The firewall on my 1996 Toyota T100 has cracked where the master clutch cylinder attaches. I am unable to get the truck into gear. Approximately 80,000 miles. Many other people have reported this problem as well yet Toyota refuses to accept responsibility.
While driving the vehicle at 45mph , consumer pushed the clutch pedal to the floor. Allege the clutch pedal bracket or mounting surface on fire wall broke. Ts.
Clutch braket cracked.
While driving vehicle lost power, leaving consumer without any help. Took vehicle to dealer where they found out that problem was with clutch bracket and replaced it.
I read in the local paper that there had been 14 clutch bracket failures on Toyota T100 pickups. I had this occur on my pickup. The bracket failed gradually over time until I though the clutch had gone out. I took it to the dealer and they identified the failed bracket as the root cause. I had to pay for the repair.
The mounting of the clutch master cylinder to the firewall shows signs of cracking at the mounting holes. The fire wall itself flexes when the clutch pedal is depressed. Possibly causing premature wearout of the clutch assembly.
Transmission wore out at 28000 miles repair to firewall was made at 57000 miles when clutch failed to disengage bracket for pedal completely failed at 110000 seat belt was replaced once and it continues to get caught in door because of weak retractor.
Bracket broke resulting in clutch being inoperable. The bracket was welded by the local Toyota dealer and replaced. It broke again on 5/10/2001 at 95364 miles with the same result. This time it was taken to a different Toyota dealer and they replaced the part. Contacted Toyota customer service and they said they are unaware of any recall for this part.
The pressure plate was not making full contact across the pressure plate. The clutch has been replaced.
