The frame has failed and is well beyond unsafe for the road due to the amount of rust and decay. The vehicle was part of the 'corrosion resistance compound application to vehicle frame' recall. I will bring the vehicle for inspection ASAP, if requested. There is absolutely nothing safe when a vehicle has a faulty structural issue. When I purchased the vehicle there were step rails and spray painted portions of the frame, the parts you could see. Also, when looking up the vehicle, I didn't see any recall issues at that time and thought it was a good sign. After driving it for 6th months, I started feeling a slight resistance feel when accelerating and turning at the same time. I took it to a mechanic and they delivered the news that the frame was deemed unfit for the roads. I found out that the vehicle was brought in for the recall when it came out and at that time the frame was labeled 'not exchangeable' and a slight bandage was applied to the unsafe defective body component that was sold as 'safe. ' I filed a claim with a local dealership and they told me that it was still safe for roads. Right now, the frame clips and portions of the frame are visibly rusting off, visible from solely walking up to the truck. Reaching out to Toyota I am very much hoping that the care for their loyal customers equally matches the product that they produce, superior to the competition. I have owned a Toyota for 10 years and never considered purchasing anything else for life, however, coming to a fair solution on this issue will have a tremendous effect on that statement I know to be true, right now. This truck is in outstanding condition with very little rust to the actually black body of the vehicle and had only 165,000 miles on it. Please don't allow this vehicle to be absent for the roads due to an issue that was already agreed that it needed correcting. Please allow myself to continue to feel that Toyota makes an outstanding product because they care about the customer.

8 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2022

My 2005 Toyota Tacoma had a recall due to potential frame rusting. I brought my truck to my local Toyota dealership for the frame inspection as stated in the recall notice I received. The frame did not need to be replaced and at a later date the frame was sealed per Toyota's remedy. In March of 2022 I had an issue with my truck that required the gas tank to be removed. As it turned out there was major rust to the frame that was located behind the gas tank that was never sealed during the original remedy to the frame rusting issue. I contacted Toyota about the issue and was told that the extended warranty for the issue had expired. I was told to contact the local dealership. In conversation with the dealership I was told there was nothing they can do. I feel that if this issue has happened to my truck, there must be other trucks on the road with the same issue that the owners have no idea what is happening to their frames that may cause a safety issue should the frame completely fail. My truck is available for inspection. Neither the dealer or Toyota inspected the issue. I feel Toyota should have had the hindsight to have the dealers remove the gas tank and seal the frame behind the tank.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2021

The frame of my truck failed at the motor mount. The motor mount has sunk into the frame shifting the motor and effecting performance and other parts. This can be confirmed by anyone. I never received recall information, I can’t find evidence of one issued for this year or my state.

10 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2020

I am the sole owner/purchaser of a 2005 Tacoma. Last week a louisville, ky Toyota dealer, oxmoor Toyota, was replacing the rear u-joints and noticed rust and corrosion throughout the frame. It was so bad, the Toyota technician considered it unsafe to drive. I have called Toyota USA but they offered no assistance. What else can I do. . . There seems to be negligence and liability here. Thank you, david compton 502-608-1799 talk/text dvdcompton@gmail. Com.

11 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2019

I bought a used 2005 Tacoma in July of 2019. No frame issues were apparent at the time that I purchased it. The week after I bought it, I took it to the dealership to have recall work done on the leaf springs and seat belts. I asked the dealership service department to check out the frame because I had become aware of the frame service campaign. They told me that the deadline had passed in January of 2019 and that they couldn't do anything about it. I have since discovered much more troublesome frame corrosion and am concerned that the truck is not safe to drive.

13 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle pulled to the right. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was informed the chassis was bent and was to take the vehicle to a Toyota dealer. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The contact stated that the chassis was previously replaced at Toyota of bristol dealer, (3045 w state st, bristol. Tn 37620, (423) 212-4266), however the failure recurred and was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. 15 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2017

The 2005 Toyota Tacoma bumper is mounted to the hitch. The hitch is welded to brackets that connect to the frame. The frame has been replaced with previous campaigns, however there is a severe safety issue with these hitches. Any Tacoma with the bumper mounted to the hitch would be at risk of creating a hazard for other drivers. If I had been towing something with the hitch, it may have caused my vehicle to overturn and kill me or what I was towing could've separated from my vehicle and caused another accident. I called Toyota and logged this complaint. The dealer and manufacturer both state there is nothing they will do to help me out. This is a $1700 hitch/bumper assembly replacement bill. I'll fix it of course on my own as a responsible driver that's concerned with my and other driver's safety. Unfortunately Toyota doesn't seem to be concerned with people's safety on the roads. That's unfortunate.

22 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2016

I am writing to you in reference to my 2005 Toyota Tacoma. As you may be aware, Tacomas have been having problems in the states with harsh winters, and with corrosions of the frame from road salt. The problem has been so evident that Toyota has admitted to not having adequate corrosion resistant protection. The first time I became aware of this issue was at the end of June 2016. I called my Toyota dealer about two other recalls and inquired about the frame issue as well. The service technician told me that the frame in fact had a ¿limited service campaign¿ issued by Toyota which expired March 31, 2016. He said to bring in my truck for the other two recalls (one was for the leaf spring) and he would inspect the frame (see page 2 of service invoice). After inspection, the technician said he did not think the truck would hold up in an accident. I called Toyota customer service experience, in California, and asked for their help and explained the situation above. They gave me a case number (1607110805) and said they would get back to me. When I received the call back, they declined my request do to missing the deadline. If this problem is a known situation with Tacomas (enough for a ¿limited service campaign¿), one would think to ensure the safety of their customers, they would send a certified letter. Not only is my safety in jeopardy, but I cannot even trade my vehicle in for one that will ensure my safety due to financial limitations and the decreased value of my truck not having this issue resolved. If Toyota really cares about their product and the safety of their customers, they would do the right thing and replace my truck frame (especially since one of their own certified mechanics determined the truck has been effected by the very same campaign). Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully you can help me resolve this issue.
