My airbag light came on last week and I found a recall for this issue online. When I brought my Tacoma to the dealership the technician told me the recall for the airbag light due to a spiral cable in the steering wheel was not covered for my Tacoma model. The dealership said the current recall was for a certain spiral cable not in my model Tacoma and that it should not be the issue. The next day the dealership called and said further diagnostic revealed it is the spiral cable and they are charging me $600. 00 to repair a safety issue. The dealership said this was a safety concern and that the airbag would not have deployed if I were to have been in an accident.
My airbag light came on last week and I found a recall for this issue. I just found out that the recall for the airbag light due to a spiral cable in the steering wheel of my Toyota was not covered for my Tacoma model. Further diagnostic revealed it is the spiral cable and they are charging me $600. 00. They said it is a safety concern and the airbag would not have deployed.
Air bag light came on. I went into Toyota escondido to have it checked. Cost 105. 00 to have them tell me it was the spiral cable and needed to be replaced. Stated that none of my airbags would work if that light was on and that my insurance would not cover me in an accident if the airbags did not deploy. Total cost for repair $654. 80. I have talked to many Tacoma owners about this problem and they have all experienced it. Some have it fail under warranty and some like me have to pay. This shouldn't be happening.
Involved in accident going 45 mph. Airbag did not deploy.
Air bag warning light on and was quoted a price of $500 to repair. If not fixed, air bags will not deploy! something call "cock spring" under the steering wheel has malfunctioned.
Air bag light is intermittent. The light remains in the on position for extended periods of time for no apparent reason, giving you the impression that the airbag will not deploy when necessary.
