The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 12v092000 (air bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 220,000.
My airbag warning light went off and the horn ceased functioning as well. The dealer charged me $170 to diagnose the problem as a broken spiral cable in the steering wheel. I asked about a recall for this part as there are plenty of other Toyota models with a recall for this same part. I was told that this particular VIN was not part of any campaign (yet). Are they actually different parts on the rav4 and 4runners or the same part?? there are plenty of documented failures and testimonials about the Tacoma issue but no recall??? where does pressure need to come from to initiate one? another $575 to fix it, what is a glaring safety issue.
Previous owner removed driver airbag and seat belt harness (webbing only) due to recalls. The part that caused the recall for the seat belt is still attached to the vehicle. Local dealership will not honor recall. Contacted Toyota (case #2006093342) and they too will not honor the recall.
I had the spiral cable fixed under the airbag recall in 2012. Now the light is on again and they want to charge me $500 to fix the same problem. It seems to me if the fix breaks then there was never really a fix. So I guess now I will be driving without an airbag since I dont have the money to get this fixed. I will never again in my life purchase another Toyota and will tell everyone I know to do the same!!.
Never received recall on the airbags? safety harness in the back seats where my rand kids ride will not tighten up. Leaf-springs bow up in the middle not down? have replaced u-joints more times then on my 97 Ford. Plus carrier bearings because of the leaf springs and stopped driving it because it goes back and forth on the road. My rear end howls and needs replaced because the rear end is higher then the tranny but there has been 7 recalls on this model and only found out about them on line. You must be doing a better job or your fired!!! lol but if you care I thank you but at least make them fix these safety issues, or at least make us aware of them instead of hiding them. Don't let them get away with ripping americans off . To do so is no better then them.
Driver side air bag is not operational. Horn doesn't work. There was a spiral cable assembly recall for the 2006 Toyota Tacoma as well as air bag recall. My VIN number was not included but my vehicle is affected. Will this be corrected by Toyota. My vehicle only has 125,000 miles.
I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I took it to my local Toyota dealer in August to address the recalls needing to be done. They tell me they are backed up trying to get recalls fixed. It is now November and have not been called yet. Now the leaf springs are on recall. I replaced one leaf spring in September 2014 due to it snapping. Will I get reimbursed from Toyota for this repair?? I have not heard from my local Toyota dealer as to when they can fix the recalls, they said they will call me when they can get me in. What year will that be? will my second leaf spring snap and puncture the tank before it gets repaired? or will the frame possible rust out and fall on the leaf springs. . . . . . . I love Toyota Tacomas, disappointed in the follow thru/timeliness on fixing these problems.
My srs light turned on and I don't know why.
2006 Toyota Tacoma. Consumer sent repair documents regarding clock spring and spiral cable replacement.
The airbag (srs) light started blinking. A little research has uncovered this to be a common problem. I would think a recall would be in order due to the potential for serious injury if the system did not function in an accident. Why has a recall not been issued?.
The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated the air bags illuminate constantly. In case of a crash the air bay would not deploy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated it needed a spiral cable and clock spring. There are no recalls or warranty for this failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 52,375.
2006 Toyota Tacoma. Consumer states problem with air bag system the consumer stated the vehicle had a faulty spiral cable in the air bag system.
2006 Toyota Tacoma. . At 95000 mi srs light has come on and has stayed on I have tried my best to rule out any causes and cant come up with anything. I do know that this has been an ongoing problem with these trucks. I cannot afford to take this truck to the dealer right now so I am driving without protection. . Toyota is aware of this particular issue and wont do anything even though this is clearly a major safety issue.
Srs inidcator light appeared on dashboard. I drove 100 miles to nearest dealer who could dignose airbag issues. I was told the spiral cable failed and therefore needed to be replaced. Quoted $400 for part, plus 1. 5 hrs of labor, so a total near $600. Called Toyota and they told me "sorry!" but would do nothing about it. I've been driving without a working air bag for almost 2 months now, simply bc I can't afford $600 for something I didn't break. Mileage was near 90000 miles when srs light came on. From reading this website, obviously a recall is needed. Toyota just announced a similar issue (spiral cable) recall for the 2006 highlander, so I'm assuming the Tacoma is next in line! if not, it will be hefty lawsuit when airbags aren't deploying bc of an "oversight" from Toyota.
I do not see the recall for the spiral cable assembly on my Tacoma. I read that this VIN is part of a recall for the wiring in the steering wheel that controls my passenger airbag, cruise control and some other functions. It has malfunctioned. Why is it not listed on your website? when I checked on the status of this recall, it shows that my model, according to the VIN does qualify for this. My passenger airbag is not working, and my cruise control is no longer working at speed.
I was driving on I-16 west bound at 70 miles an hour when both air bags deployed without having an accident. 2006 Toyota Tacoma, I left the truck beside the road.
Srs system failed at 65000 miles.
My wife was just involved in a single mvc, it appears she had a syncopal episode that made her loose control of her Toyota Tacoma. She was traveling at an unknown speed when for no apparent reason she veered to the right shoulder for several feet causing her to roll several times coming to a stop after hitting several trees head on. The vehicle is deemed a total loss. There was no airbag deployment from drivers, passenger or side.
The contact owns 2006 Toyota Tacoma. While driving 60-70 mph he swerved from his lane into the next to avoid a crash which caused his vehicle to flipped approximately six times and slammed head on into an embankment. The contact stated that none of the airbags deployed. The road conditions were clear. The contact sustained bruises, tissue damage and a concussion. The crash caused the roof to cave, the windows to blow out and smashed the front end. The manufacturer stated that type of crash would not have caused the airbags to deploy and requested pictures of the vehicle. A police report is available. The current and failure mileages were 60,000. The consumer provided photos of the vehicle. Updated 09/18/07.
