1 Noises During Shifting problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2018

My Tacoma has 17000 miles on it. Here lately I've been hearing a chirping noise coming from the engine bay. It doesn't start right away so I know it's not a pulley or a belt. I don't drive the truck hard because let's face it, it's powertrain isn't the greatest and shifts like a kid learning to drive a stick. Im sure the chirping noise is the high pressure fuel pump in the engine bay. For awhile thought it was normal until another Tacoma pulled up and it wasn't doing the same noise at all even asked the guy if his a/c was on to make sure we had the same setting. His was also a 2017 off road Tacoma.

2 Noises During Shifting problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that the six speed auto transmission failed to downshift properly. In addition, the transmission was slow to change over, there was an abnormal noise, and the vehicle lunged forward, which presented the risk of a potential crash. The failures occurred intermittently. Recently, while the vehicle was at a stop with the brake pedal depressed, it lunged forward while a passerby was walking in front of the vehicle. Capitol Toyota (765 capitol expressway auto mall, san jose, CA 95136, (408) 705-4707) was notified of the failure for more than two years and indicated that a software update may remedy the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified several times. The approximate failure mileage was 15.
