When the radar becomes covered with ice and snow, the truck continuously spawns alerts for each safety sense feature that is disabled, including a pop up the occludes the instrument cluster and can not be dismissed. Multiple warnings interfere with focus in poor conditions and create more of a safety hazard due to driver distraction.

Toyota has a manufacturing defect going on with their v6 in gen 3tacoma's. I have a 2020 limited with 48,200 miles that needs a new cylinder head. It threw a check engine light on me, and luckily enough I took it to the dealership within about 30 miles, otherwise my engine could have exploded. I have videos from the dealership inspection that I cannot attach here. I have since found via the error code a history of these issues on newer trucks. [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] I believe that this issue could pose serious safety issues for someone who is not as immediate on stopping driving, as it was just a check engine light. If you were to drive on this light down the highway, and have catastrophic failure, the Tacoma becomes a completely unpowered hazard. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While driving on a dry, clearly marked two-lane highway in montana, I had lane tracing assist and active lane keep/track assist turned on. My hands were on the steering wheel, speed was within the limit, and visibility was clear. The truck unexpectedly steered itself out of the lane toward the right-side guard rail. There were no audible or visual lane-departure alerts, no “steering assist canceled” message, and the pre-collision system did not apply braking before impact. The vehicle struck the guard rail. The system failed on multiple safety layers — no lane warning, no steering correction, and no automatic braking — under normal conditions (dry pavement, well-painted lane lines, daylight). I believe this represents a malfunction or defect in the driver-assist software or sensor calibration for Toyota safety sense 3. 0. I request NHTSA investigate similar incidents for 2024–2025 Toyota Tacoma models equipped with lta/lda and pre-collision system to determine whether a systemic defect exists.

Since day one vibration and pulsing 30-45mph. Dealer confirmed vibration and said it common with my vehicle and nothing can be done. Returned to dealer same issue confirmed by tech and service manager and they charged $75 for tire balance at 5,000 miles. Returned next day and drove another identical model and 3 lesser versions of Tacoma’s. They claim they have no fix and suggested I trade it in for a tundra and take a $10,000 deductions from my sticker price. Now when I stop slowly theres a thump and surge in the drive train like s load shifted in the bed. And intermittently when going from a dead stop the engine rev’s nothing happens for a second and it clunks into gear and shifts harshly. Again claim there’s nothing they can do.
Truck has an issue where certain safety systems are disabled when a trailer is detected. This is normal. However, the truck is failing to notice once a trailer has been disconnected and this keeps the safety features disabled during normal driving. Toyota has yet to address the issue. There are many people complaining online. Not safe and very disappointing.
The electrohydraulic brake booster leak a brake fluid in the driver side cabin near to brake pedal. . This brake fluid leak touch DE floor paint and cause rust on the metal floor… eventually make the warning light on on dash panel and canceling brake functions and another think on brake system . . Is a brake fail dangerous. . To much Tacoma owners report that fails but Toyota USA solution is replace a part but out of warranty . .

The adaptive cruise control will randomly slam on the brakes out of nowhere. This has happened multiple times to me while driving behind no one. Not only is this startling to me and everyone in the vehicle, but it is a safety hazard. Someone driving behind me who is not paying attention is going to slam into me. I've raised the issue with my local Toyota dealership where I get my truck serviced and they've indicated that this is a known issue with the radar cruise control. I'm worried this is going to happen on the highway at high speed and cause a massive accident.

Vehicle stalling on freeway and almost crashed multiple times and dealership is saying they already fixed the recall on my truck but still doing same thing as reports say.
My vehicle stalls (won't accelerate and rough idle) forcing you to roll off the highway without warning. This has happened multiple times while in cruise control going up steep hills. It shows engine misfire and check engine. I took it to the dealer multiple times and it was determined to be bad gas. I and my insurance company paid for this dealer (hatch Toyota show low az) for complete clean and replacement of the entire fuel system. Now 5 months later it is doing it again. The safety issue is the stalling in the middle of the highway where there is no way to get out of the way of traffic. I made sure I bought good gas by paying extra money at a new chevron gas station with new in ground tanks. But dealer claims bad gas again. That is a separate issue.

While driving on 3 lane interstate, with the adaptive cruise control on, while passing a semi truck the front collision brake system activated. I was doing 72 miles an hour when it happened. The result was almost got rear-ended by another vehicle when my truck applied the brakes unexpectedly. The semi did not cross into my lane. My lane was clear. 0.
2018 Toyota Tacoma problem. I purchased the truck in October of 2018. On July 31, 2021 @ 3:50 pm while driving home I was in cruise control @ 82 mph when the display showed malfunction. The truck went from 82 mph to 60 within seconds again. A car behind me was able to change lanes to avoid an accident. The trucks display readings were malfunction of headlight, radar cruise control unavailable & lane departure alert malfunction and visit the dealer. After getting home I shut the truck off and restarted it. The malfunctions had cleared again. I made an appointment with the dealership for August 5, 2021. They worked with Toyota representatives to trying to solve the problem but couldn’t identify it. The conclusion was when it happens again bring it to the dealership (if possible) before shutting it off so they can do a diagnostic test while the truck is still running and showing the malfunction display. Luckily, when it occurred I was on a road with every little traffic. My problem now is that I don’t trust driving it using cruise control in normal traffic or at night not knowing if the headlights will shut off or the cruise control will shut down. This is the second time this has occur. The first time was in Aug 2019. I took to the dealer but they couldn’t identify the problem. My thought at the time was it may have been a one time event but it was not. I have pictures of the truck’s displaying the malfunctions on both events.
This morning I activated my cruise control (cc)as I normally would at 55 mph. Immediately my truck began accelerating until I finally disengaged cc when the speed reached 83-85 mph. It was still accelerating at the time I disengaged it. I attempted to recreate the incident with no luck. Before the incident, I was driving in a city environment at speeds less than 55 mph, so there was no way I had previously set the cc to a high speed that would have caused this to happen had I hit resume.
Transmission shifts when it should not shift! it also jerks when accelerating and maintaining speeds. While in cruse control the truck drops in 20mph in speed really concerning when it would cause a bad wreck while it drops it constantly still jerks and it also floors the truck to get back up to the preselected speed and transmission jerks and studders and drops and speeds back up and so it sounds like it could blow up from it flooring and dropping in speed and flooring it in cruse control this needs fixed and worked out! transmission shouldn’t be jerking or hunting for gears.

System will occasionally suddenly decelerate as I am passing, usually a large truck. I will be in adaptive cruise control and as I get abreast of the trailer, the vehicle will suddenly decrease speed by 10-20 mph, then accelerate back to the set speed. This, obviously, has the potential to create a rear end collision if someone is following and not paying full attention, esp if there are multiple cars following. This has happened multiple times.
While driving the vehicle the steering wheel pulled to the left and the steering wheel turned to the left considerably and permanently even when it was going straight on the road, the vehicle was taken into service, they aligned it and in just 500 miles it began to pull to the right and the steering wheel was turned to the left again even when the vehicle was going straight on the road. I have an appointment in service again soon.
Vehicle will not hold 6th gear while in cruise control. Vehicle will suddenly down shift to 5th and sometimes 4th. This makes the vehicle surge forward abruptly.
