Ignition Problems of Toyota Tacoma

2007 Tacoma truck. Upon starting truck it went into a hi-speed idle pegging the tach. Turned off ignition and restarted after about 5 seconds. Same result. Waited about 10 seconds normal operation on third start. It sounded like a jet had landed in my drive way. Called dealer. Stated that unless check engine was on there is no trouble code to be displayed. As of this date (8-30-10) I will not let my wife or anyone else drive this auto.

Vehicle ignition faulty. After turning the vehicle off, it would not start, would not turn over, the steering wheel was locked in place. I fear that this issue, working sometimes, other times not working, can fail while I'm driving, leaving me to try to operate a vehicle without power and a locked steering column. I brought the truck to a local dealer, no problems were found, though the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership because it was disabled.

2008 Toyota Tacoma upon slowing and applying brake, vehicle suddenly accelerated and brake could not stop it. The tires were spinning and vehicle was vibrating, tires were smoking. It stopped racing when ignition was turned off.

Vehicle engine revved while still in park in the parking lot of a local medical center and only stopped when the key in the ignition was turned off. This is the third time this has occurred. On January 1, 2009 an accident involving property damage (through a chain link fence) occurred as a result. We filed a complaint (confirmation number 10253526). A Toyota technician "checked out" the vehicle and found nothing wrong. There is obviously something wrong. The first time this occurred we were in the parking lot of a local department store, assumed human error, and did not report the incident. This is strike three. Toyota has been contacted.

On Feb 2. 01 when reviving a new 200l Toyota Tacoma, the steering wheel was locked (wouldn't turn at all). I got the salesperson who came with me. He jerked the steering wheel hard and if was freed. I asked if that is normal, he responded "it's ok, they all do that. " over the years whenever it didn't seem to be right, I remembered the statement "it's ok, they all do that". On Sep 8, 2005 in the wall-mart parking lot with 18 cases of bottled water to take to my church for shipment to hurricane katrina victims in biloxi, ms, my ignition key would not turn nor was I able to get the key out of the ignition. I had the vehicle towed, repaired, and picked it up. The local Toyota dealership didn't want to hear about my historical problem with the steering/ignition since the day I picked it up new. I mailed them a letter but they totally ignored it. I believe they are being negligent by not dealing with this issue. Have there been any recalls or service bulletins related to 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickups steering column/ignition problems. Please let me know. Thanks and I hope you all have a nice day.
