There is still many of these Toyota Tundras out there that have frame problems! like mine which had a bad frame but spent half its life in florida during the winners and within 4 years of being in new york showed rust in within another 4 years had holes in the frame! Toyota coated my frame three different times to buy time to get it off the timeline for the recall! it's a 2007 Tundra sr5 with a bad frame.
The vehicle did not pass PA state inspection due to broken front shock mounts and severe frame corrosion.
Subject: dealer warranty enhancement program zh7 certain 2007 – 2008 model year Tundra extension of warranty coverage for frame corrosion - ended on 1/21/2019 (attached). Details: see attached pictures - frame has rusted out with considerable "perforation" 10mm or larger. The condition clearly started many years ago. The vehicle was rust protected at an independent non-dealer shop. No known frame issues were witnessed prior to the 2019 deadline. Vehicle was not taken to the Toyota dealer based on aftermarket rust protection application and no witnessed issues. The enhancement was not stated as a mandatory recall (which it should have been). The vehicle has 80k and has been lightly used in virginia (cold climate state). The entire structural integrity of the truck is put at risk with this condition. An independent shop investigated the condition and provided the pictures. Repairs are underway but Toyota America should be responsible for extending this enhancement to a mandatory recall of all impacted vehicles. This is clearly a public safety hazard, breakdown in quality and totally unacceptable.
Suddenly, I discovered that my fuel tank showing as if it's about to drop on the ground. As I inspected, the fuel tank rear strap broke off the frame due to corrosion. The strap itself was not the issue, part of the corroded frame was still attached to the strap. When I took the truck to my local mechanic, further inspection showed worse signs of corrosion in the entire frame and in every part connected to the frame as well; suspension parts, brake parts, emergency brake parts, spare tire hinge; etc. Against my disagreement with Toyota dealership, I had the truck painted by Toyota as they recommended during the frame recall in February of 2018. I wanted to replace the frame, based on other professionals advice, but Toyota dealership insisted that my truck frame is in good shape it only needs the paint recommended by Toyota. I come to find out that they have not remove nor clean any rust and they painted on top of it. Additionally, they never painted the cross members above the tank now, when I looked under the truck, the paint has coming off in greater areas of the frame showing heavy rust under it. Which means the paint job was a joke, and worthless. Now, after seeing this, I am wondering how can I possibly drive this truck. The tank can drop any time or the spare tire latch can break off, causing a disaster on a highways where I drive. My emergency brake not even adjustable any more due to the heavy rust caused by the frame. Toyota failed to engineer the frame, and later on, failed again to correct their own mistake. Contacted the dealer and waited for a month, no response. I called Toyota headquarter and filed a complaint. They respond is that because the recall program has expired there is no further assistance from Toyota. My question to Toyota is, are they going to wait to hear a disaster on one of the highways caused by their faulty equipment and workmanship, or will they take action before it happen. Attached are some pictures.
Toyota Tundra frame corroded. There is a baseball sized hole in my frame and Toyota was notified of it and denied that is was their responsibility to repair issues related to improper anti corrosion treatment during manufacturing. They stated they had a campaign to resolve this issue but I was not notified by phone, fax, mail, email, or any other means.
My gas tank strap rotted off my frame causing my full gas tank to almost fall out. My frame rotted very bad also. I know there were recalls concerning this issue but I'm not sure if they were done to mine. I've only had the truck for three months what do I do?.
My Tundra was recalled for a frame inspection it was coated with a anti corrosion the dealer sprayed over the the brake lines that that were also corroded they were sprayed with the same undercoating when they should have been replaced I was on my way home this afternoon and my brake line burst from the corrosion causing a accident because of brake failure.
Secondary air injection reaction pump error code. Present with the secondary air system reaction pump error code. Bought it on November 28, 2016 and could have had it fix before the 10 years extended warranty expired on 2017, but I still have not received any information about the secondary air injection reaction pump issues from Toyota. How do I go about getting the warranty.

Fuel tank strap rusted and broke tank was held on with the front strap sagging in the rear. Vehicle has 159000 miles. The vehicle was in motion on highway.
The amplifier for the ac/heat controls broke. I need it fixed as the truck is not usable in southeast arizona without ac. Toyota put the amp in this model behind the dash. This was wrong and they changed it fairly quickly. To repair this model requires an additional $1,200 of cost beyond that of the broken part. I spoke with Toyota and have a file number. They won't do anything to help with this cost or an electronic work around. This is a real safety issue. The vehicle can be driven but it is a death trap and this is caused by poor engineering. Attach is the request I sent to Toyota.
While driving at high speeds on the interstate a flapping noise was heard. It diminished when driving slowly. I took the truck to the dealer and it was found to have the rivets holding the gas tank shield in place broken off. I was told that they had rusted.
My check engine light came on and I was not able to accelerate beyond 40 mph. When I had the code read it came back as it was p2440 secondary air injection system switching valve stuck open.
Paint on roof oxidizing, in about 12 x 6inch area. Paint on the rest the vehicle in virtually flawless. The vehicle is washed frequently and waxed at least twice a year.
Didnt notice till after a mile of driving but my check engine light, vsc, and 4lo were flashing. I could not accelerate past 50 miles per hour. Unfortunately the Toyota dealership was closed and I took it in to auto shop to get the codes scanned to provide to Toyota dealership. In order to get home I had to get the codes cleared out to get it out of limp mode but I drove it to the Toyota dealership the next day and provided the codes and necessary information. Unfortunately they needed to get the codes off themselves I explained that there was a 2007 and 2008 Tundra – TSB 032908 but they couldnt verify the problem and told me that next time it happens to bring it in without resetting the codes. Well it happened again today almost a month later. I'm taking the vehicle to a local dealership other than the initial one as towing charges would be outrages. I hope Toyota can get his corrected for others regardless if you have the codes or not it should be a mandatory notice for all Toyota Tundra owners so you do not get stranded far from a dealership or eventually have that issue as it is provided only if you have up to 150k miles or 10years from when the vehicle was purchased.
Failed inspection code p2440,2441 took to Toyota dealer checked p2240 . Need to replace air pump, air switch valve bank and bank 2. Cost $2700 . This is second time failed . Last year air pump failed. Toyota dealer estimated $4000 replace. I did buy air pump ang replace it ,cost me $ 1100. Mileage were 69329 and this time 101450.
My wife came very close to getting into an accident while bringing the kids to school a few weeks ago. She was leaving a stop sign getting onto a very busy highway when our 2007 Toyota Tundra unexpectedly had drastically reduced power. After a trip to the dealership and some research I have found that the reduction in power was caused by a failure in the secondary air injection system. This system is part of the emissions system and is designed to increase efficiency during cold starts. When there is a failure in this system the ecm (onboard computer) goes into a mode in which the available power from the engine is dramatically reduced. Toyota has recommended that I replace two air injection pumps and a switching valve set at an estimate of over $3500. I am researching other options because they tell me that this problem can continue to reoccur over and over again.
Toy. 2007 5. 7 crew-max 4+4 p2440 code came on and truck went into safety mode . Greatly reduced speed . 4 lo lt. Comes on as well as engine, traction and anti slip lts. I carry a hand-held code detector and clear the code as soon as it comes up and continuously clear it as I'm driving. Toyota wanted 3400. 00 to fix this defect after I bought 3 new Tundras from them every 3 years. This has gone on for 13 mo. 8 mo. Into it my truck started dying and would not start for several min. While I was driving on interstate and was stranded in middle of road more than once. This went on for 1 week 2 different times than it started running again with just the p2440 code coming up all the time and shutting me down. This has happened to many many people including my brother in law who also had a 2007 Tundra ex. Cab. They fixed his because he was only 1500 mile out of warranty. When my trouble started I was at 70,000+ mi. Defect has nothing to do with amt. Of miles, just time(after 3 yrs. )after 13 mo. Still no help from Toyota and no recall. Please help, phillip.
I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra sr5 double cab and have had all of my regular maintenance completed on time and at a local Toyota dealership. I have made the complaint of my gas pedal sticking and my floor mats were not an issue. They claim they "fixed" the recall problem with adding a part to the gas pedal. Since I have had my truck back, it has not worked properly. The gas pedal still accelerates on its on or decelerates on its on. The gas pedal "floats" with your foot so the engine is constantly making the rpm's rise and fall constantly upon riding over bumps or hills. I don't want a "part" to be installed, I want the entire pedal to be replaced! I like my truck, however, the engine does not run correctly and is constantly making a ticking sound like a diesel engine would sound. I have made several complaints to the dealership and they are constantly telling me it is ok and nothing is wrong. Transmissions are not made to just down shift 3 gears right off the bat on the interstate on flat ground. Nothing has been done to try to correct this problem as they proclaim there is no problem. They are crazy! pulling a horse trailer made it difficult for the transmission to shift properly and it was in tow mode. It took 1 mile or longer for it to shift from 1/2 gear to 4 gear and the rpm's were over 2,500. . This is not normal. I felt it would never shift downward from 1/2 gear. I am afraid to pull my horses with the transmission acting this way.
Floor mat in my 2007 Toyota Tundra slid forward causing the accelerator to depress fully. Avoid crash by shifting to neutral and turning the engine off then discovered the problem.
I am the owner of a 2007 Toyota Tundra and while driving cross country with my wife and 2yo daughter the truck automaticly went into limp mode while driving 65 mph and stopped dead almost causing an accident. Trouble codes were pulled and found to be air injection valves for emission control upon startup only . This was midway thru a 2300 mile trip. Truck has 67000 miles on it and it out of warranty so cost to me is between 4000-5000 $. Truck should not enter limp mode while driving as it is just a matter of time before an accident occors.
