36 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

Air pressure in one tire constantly deflates. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that due to the porosity chrome of the wheels, air leaks out from the wheel causing the tire to deflate.

37 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/28/2014

2008 Toyota Tundra 5. 7l double cab w/74,500 miles 4hi, 4lo, abs, vsc lights come on and flash at random intervals. The first time this happened, the cruise was set at 65 when all four lights started flashing. All other indications are normal. The truck will not engage 4hi, 4lo or vsc until it is turned off and restarted. The same day after approximately 10 miles of driving all four lights started flashing again, this time the cruise was not engaged. Sometimes one or two days pass before it happens again. No error codes are indicated on the computer.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/22/2014

Inflated the tires to ensure proper psi's prior to operation. Tire warning light shuts on and off. Tire warning lights will remain on when vehicle is started, idling, and in operation. This is still an ongoing problem that has not been fully resolved. The tire sensors could be a contributing factor which is not being reported as well. Went to the local dealership and was told that they will not fix unless the recall is under Toyota's website and not the NHTSA. This is a potential safety issue that could result in an accident, injury, or death.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/20/2013

Vehicle vsc trac and vsc off light flash at random at any time any speed. Appears to effect thousands of Toyota's. Worried it will cause and uncontrolled throttle/brake application.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/13/2013

I started my truck up yesterday just randomly to go to the store. As soon as I started it a bunch of warning lights went off. The check engine light was on, the 4wd lo light was blinking, the vsc off light was blinking, and the traction control light was on. I then turned the vehicle off and let it sit for a few minutes. I turned the truck back on and the same warning lights were still on. I then pulled out of my driveway to go to a friends house who has a little computer that tells you what errors are going off when your check engine light is on like an autobody. As I pulled onto the main road and pressed on the accelerator the truck would barely go. The engine sounded like it usually does but the truck would hardly accelerate. When I finally got to my friends house he plugged the computer in and it gave me an error code of p2440. Once I looked more into it I found that it was the air induction pump that was malfunctioning. Further research online I found thousands of people have had the same problem with Tundra's with mileage between 40k and 60k. My biggest concern is why the vehicle is not accelerating like it supposed to. Many other people have the same concern. That is a huge safety hazard to me. What would happen if that would just all of a sudden shut my engine down to the slow crawl that it is doing if I am on a turnpike in heavy traffic. I would believe that there would definitely be an accident which I am sure it has happened before. I am just wondering if there is anything that can be done or maybe something that has already been done. Like a recall that I am not aware of.

41 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/16/2012

Check engine light is lit. A few weeks later vsc light started blinking.

42 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/17/2011

2008 Toyota Tundra double cab 5. 7 4x4. Vsc/4hi/4lo/abs/brake lights all start flashing. Have brought to dealer 3 times. Have 88500 miles on truck. Warrenty runs out at 100,000. Dealer states they can not reproduce problem. Showed them online articles of same vehicle with same issues and how it was resolved. They refuse becuase there is no code.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/11/2011

Abs, trac and 4hi warning lights all on while driving. Vehicle abs and trac control all ceased to function. Was driving in slippery road conditions. Almost lost control of vehicle. After stopping vehicle, 4hi would not engage. This is 4th or 5th time this has occurred over the past 2 years. Mostly occurs during cold weather but not always. Have taken truck to dealer after these occurrences and 2 of the times the dealer has been able to replicate the situation. When truck is in state of flashing lights, the truck always returns to normal when you turn off vehicle, wait and then restart it. Dealer has replaced parts now 4 times and still having the same problem.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/08/2010

The 2007/2008 Toyota Tundra has a design defect with its air injection pump that allows the pump to injest water when driving for an extended period in rainy weather especially at highway speeds. When the water is then transferred to the switching valves. The vehicle will loose speed rapidly on a medium grade with no ability to accelerate. The cruise control causes the tranmission to downshift repeatedly trying to accelerate. This is extremely dangerous at high speed. In addition the vehicle stablization control is disabled. This condition also short circuits and disables 4w drive and cause the check engine light to come on. The inability to maintain speed or to accelerate creates a very hazardous condition. I have had this problem corrected twice at a cost of $1600. The dealer has informed me that the problem will continue to occur because of a design flaw. Toyota acknowledges the problem in a service bulletin to the dealership (t-sb-039-08 rev 2 dated 10/28/08). There is a remedy for this problem but the dealership claim it has no authorization from Toyota to implement it. As a result I am forced to drive a vehicle that becomes unsafe when it rains.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/06/2010

The Toyota Tundra 2007-2010 carry a major saftey issues all over the net, under error code p2415 or p2440 or p2441 or p2442 series of errors, which prevent the truck from accelerating or stopping properly for that matter. I was towing when the check engine light came out while driving ( I mean driving) on the hwy, towing somewhat a heavy load & all of sudden while going uphill the engine just lost power instead of me going forward I got stuck, and if it was not for the other drivers being aware I would have been severly injured or killed along with my four kids,to make a miserable long story short,I find out this proplem is amajor issue and a defect in Toyota Tundras, and it cost consumer like me $3500 up to $5000 to fix it involve an air supply unit to the engine to shut down. . . . . . . I need to get this issue to be looked at I have four kids were riding with me that day. . . . I cant believe the damage I avoided & the concept behind this stupid design. I urge you as an american to look into this issue I am providing you a link for that matter . And please let me know what action I can take against Toyota to fix this saftey issue. . Read more...

46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/03/2010

When I started the car a bunch of lights illuminated and stayed on. The 4x4, stability control traction control, etc. It has happened 9 times over the last two years. Turning the car off then on would not make it go away. I had to disconnect battery and reconnect before it seems to be working right.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

I have a strong belief after my experience that Toyota has a defect with "speed sensor wires and may know and is keeping it under wraps. Maybe because of safety problems or that it's contributing to a short circuit and unintended acceleration as professor gilbert had demonstrated on abc with what could happen with a short circuit in some Toyota vehicles. Someone from Toyota headquarters that was visiting my dealership personally investigated my 2008 Tundras speed sensor wires which on one side had completely failed (snapped completely through) and was failing on the other side (partially broken through) at the same spot. Toyota chose to repair both but rather classified the repairs as a courtesy replacement versus under the vehicles warranty. This I have a strong belief was done to keep it off the books back at headquarters and under wraps. This happened in Jan of 2010. Other indications this is wider spread but unrealized as to being a defect problem: 1) the dealership had to wait a long time because they had a hard time retrieving replacement parts, probably low on stock due to other replacements. 2) the local dealership had repaired another Tundra at the same location for the same problem right before mine, which I heard about through a contact. 3) internet search indications. Note: at first glance a torn or split wire may appear to have been caused by road debris or in the case of a vehicle crash if wire already was exhibited problems may be thought to have been caused by an impact if discovered after an impact. Because of these two reasons if this problem is a defect it may explain why its not reported so readily. Thats my fear. From my findings im convinced what is creating this defect is in design. The wire passes through a harness which is clamped down to the frame and the a-arm which pivots up and down tugging on the wire which is also near the hot manifold and after time the constant bending and tugging breaks down the speed sensor wire.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/14/2009

2007 Toyota Tundra v-8, 5. 7 l. 4 lo light blinks, vsc light blink, check engine light on continuously all three of these lights are coming on. I can take my battery off and they reset. Per Toyota disconnect battery and it will re set. The truck will kick you down to 40 mph or slower when this happens even if you are running 60 at the time. Was told the problem was my secondary air intake. And a tire sensor problem. But that doesn't explain the sudden surges in motor or dieing for no reason. Talked with Toyota and they said they would fix it. To date not done. This has happened for the past 2 months. Have to disconnect my battery several times a day just to drive my truck. I have almost been hit more than 3 times due to this problem. Went to pull out to cross 3 lanes of traffic and it kicked down, had the gas pedal floored and the truck would barely move. My truck now has 40,000 miles and it still is not fixed. My a/c went out, said it was the fuse, what about the blower motor that has never worked right, or the truck wants to die all the time, electronic start wont work was told my battery was no good yet they won't honor the battery because it is now out of their warranty due to them taking so long to get it in and having me to disconnect the battery all the time. Toyota called to day and said my truck would be done in a couple hours, then less than a hour later they said it wouldn't be done because they had ordered the wrong parts and that I would need to bring them a battery.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/01/2008

Electric stability control engages when we hit a bump or pothole. No one can explain why this is happening. Power steering fluid line had to be replaced because of excessive rust causing it to leak. This part alone cost over 600. 00. Premature tire replacement because of the inability to align properly due to extremely rusted components that could not be adjusted properly. Horrible steering wheel shimmy when on freeway that also cannot be explained or fixed (even after replacing the rear differential and axle) truck is extremely "squirrely" and feels like it can go out of control, especially after hitting a hole or bump.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

My 2007 Toyota Tundra hesitates when you are stopped at a light making a turn or slowly rolling around a corner and making a sharp turn. No matter how much gas is given it retards it self and then lurch once the wheels start to straiten up. I was told it is a computer issue due to the antislip features. But it is gross over correction at best. And dangerous for sure.
