2024 Toyota Tundra experienced a serious safety event. While travelling on the highway at 60mph speeds in traffic when the truck suddenly blinked a loss of steering warning light then immediately blinked engine failure warning light. The truck lost power and the engine completely shut down in traffic going down a long, steep hill. I was able to reach the bottom and pull over but the truck would not restart. I had to have the truck towed to a Toyota dealership near my home.

I previously reported the safety issue truck pulls to the right after roughly 20 alignments. I leave the keep lane assist off because it exacerbates the safety issue. Recently, while trying to self diagnose the problem, I turned on the system before using an on ramp to i820. While accelerating on the on ram, the keep lane assist caused the truck to swerve left and then right. I immediately turned off the feature and the symptom stopped. This is a serious safety issue and can can injury and harm to the public.
I own a 2023 Toyota Tundra that is part of the major engine recall due to machining debris in the 3. 4l v6 engine. A few days prior to the failure, I called the dealership to raise concerns that the acceleration was starting to not act right. Despite this, while driving at 70 mph on the highway yesterday (may 22, 2026), the engine suddenly failed and died without any prior warning, it is my belief that this is due to the open recall. This created a very dangerous situation as I was traveling at highway speed and could have been rear-ended or lost control of the vehicle. The truck had to be towed to the dealership. The truck now has 33,000 miles. I purchased it used for $49,000 with only 11,000 miles. This is the same known defect Toyota has issued a recall for, yet my engine still failed catastrophically. I am extremely concerned that this failure has caused additional damage to the transmission, drivetrain, or other components. I have completely lost confidence in the safety and reliability of this vehicle. Even after the planned engine replacement, I do not feel safe driving it due to the risk of future failure and the known history of this defect. I am requesting that Toyota provide a full buyback or replacement because this sudden engine failure at highway speeds poses a serious safety risk. Toyota has been notified, but I want this incident officially documented with NHTSA due to the widespread nature of these engine failures in 2022-2023 Tundras.

Steering is intermittently difficult, almost as if no power steering. Steering wheel does not return to center after a turn. There were no warning lamps or messages displayed on the vehicle. This is a safety issue in that it could an accident by not responding properly to driver input. Took vehicle to Toyota dealer who diagnosed problem as "intermediate steering shaft binding. " Toyota dealer replaced steering intermediate shaft. Dealer kept old steering shaft.

Over the past several months my truck 2023 Toyota Tundra has randomly died, completely shut off and sputtered to a stop. After these instances occurred the vehicle has had trouble to re-start. As a result I took my truck into the local dealership in topeka KS, lewis Toyota, which did not complete any of the recall work, they said that the inicident could not be duplicated. For follow up, I took my vehicle to crown Toyota where its currently receiving body repair from an unrelated traffic accident. I have given the service manager ryan wingert the total background of what has happened verbally several times, outlining the vehicle randomly just shutting down and not being able to re-start until several minutes has past and computer reset occurs. I feel that the vehicle is un safe to drive and Toyota is not honoring any proactive follow up with my claim, stating that the dealerships have not been trained on the procedures to perform the work or the repair and pointing toward Toyota corporate offices for a fix. I'm exaughsted from the endless loop and I want to ensure I receive a safe and reliable vehicle back from Toyota. To date, the dealership has had my truck in there possession over two months with no resolution. The type of customer service and lack of follow up on critical safety items I feel puts our roadways at further risk of continual accidents due to Toyotas lack of engagement and follow up. The engine lost complete power. This is a 2024 Toyota Tundra I=max force hybrid. The low oil pressure, hybrid malfunction, check engine lights all came on. I lost all power, steering, brakes, and had no hybrid assist. I was nearly hit from the back. I was able to get help from people to push it out the highway. There was no warning prior to this happening. I have read about all the engine problems from the 22 and 23 year models and recalls are out. There are no recalls for the hybrid 2024 engines, but this looks the same as what I am reading.
Front end alignment is incorrect from Toyota factory. This is reflected in the service campaign 24td01 for this vehicle. Toyota refuses to fix the problem, stating the campaign has expired. The alignment causes premature uneven wear of the tires, which is a safety problem. The 24td01 campaign document states the dealer should complete the service prior to sale. Marietta Toyota did not complete this service on my vehicle before sale.

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel was slightly locked while making a left or right turn. The vehicle was scheduled for a diagnostic test in the upcoming days. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,605.
The steering rack internal seal inside the steering rack failed/ "blew" per mechanic and is leaking. I could lose my ability to steer at any time while driving my vehicle and wreck. It is currently at the Toyota services center in gladstone, or and has been diagnosed. No other representatives have inspected the vehicle. There were no warnings or signs of failure. I had originally taken my truck in to have an oil change and have it checked for a "slow" start up.

1) the newly installed rack & pinion rack locks up and tried to turn right when on a continuous or left turn followed closely by another left turn. 2) my safety and the other drivers near me were all in danger when the loss of steering control occurs. The problem makes the vehicle want to turn hard to the right and the hydraulics are too strong to control the steering. 3) the problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, but the problem still exist and is repeatable for any needed inspection. 4) the vehicle has not been inspected by any outside entity, but is available for inspection. The problem still exist and can be confirmed. 5) there are no warning lights or symptoms. When it happens, all of the sudden the truck wants to make a hard right and there is nothing you can do to stop it, other than stop and let go the the steering wheel.

All four tires on my 2025 Toyota Tundra experienced severe and abnormal outside edge wear at approximately 13,000 miles. The vehicle was purchased new and maintained according to manufacturer recommendations, including tire rotations every 5,000 miles at authorized Toyota dealerships. An authorized Toyota dealership inspected the vehicle, documented the abnormal tire wear, and performed alignment measurements. The dealership issued a written recommendation stating that a four-wheel alignment was needed to extend tire life and/or correct drivability concerns. Alignment measurements showed values outside specification. The tire manufacturer reviewed photos and documentation and confirmed the wear pattern is caused by vehicle alignment and not a tire manufacturing defect. The condition affected all four tires and required premature replacement, creating a potential safety concern due to reduced tread depth and handling stability. The issue appears to be related to steering or suspension geometry rather than normal tire wear.
The frame has rusted so badly that the sway bar mount disengaged from the frame. Brought it to a Toyota dealership and confirmed that frame recalls were performed on earlier models with the same issue . However my year did not qualify.

The power steering went out during routine around-town driving. One moment it was steering fine, the next moment it became extremely difficult and sluggish. There were no warning lights or warning of any sort until the steering wheel started jerking unevenly as I tried to turn. I was able to get control of the vehicle and pull it to the side of the road. There was no difference in the engine noise, and I couldn't see any noticeable fluid leak. I was able to drive the vehicle home, make an appointment with the Toyota dealer, and get the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. The dealership told me after inspection, that the rack and pinion steering was binding internally, and that there was seepage from the right boot. Initially, they told me that the pump should be fine. I authorized them to replace the rack and pinion steering. After which, they told me that the problem seemed to still persist some, and that the pump would have to be replaced also. My total bill came to $3,200, which seemed not unfair. But this whole issue seemed like something that should be noticed as part of a recall. I found the NHTSA recall number. 21v-920, and my truck seemed to match exactly the symptoms spelled out is this recall , but Toyota refused to acknowledge it. My VIN number did not fall within the specified VIN for this recall. I've driven several Toyotas, including another Tundra, a tacoma, 2 highlanders and a sienna, and have been pleased with each vehicle. This Tundra is 10 years old with 95,000 miles, and I've only done expected maintenance and a couple of occasional minor repairs. Those being: - having the brakes resurfaced - changing out the alternator in the end, it wasn't a devastating amount of money, but it was an issue that I felt Toyota should have taken care of. I did reach out to them, but because I had already paid for the repairs on the vehicle I needed to drive for work, they refused to talk to me any further. I have the estimate and final bill.
Ive been noticing a significant lag sometimes when I press the gas pedal. It last just a couple seconds. This could possibly become something bigger. Will update of it gets worse. Also the cruise control doesn't hold the set speed it stays 1 or 2 miles under.
According to Toyota, the 2022-2026 Tundra is compatible with 35x11. 5 tires. These tires were installed by the dealer before my purchase. However, during turns, the tires heavily rub against the sway bar. This issue may be specific to the trd upgrade package, which includes an upgraded, thicker sway bar. After driving for just 500 miles, noticeable rub marks have developed on both sides of the sway bar and visible marks on the inside of the tire. Tire rubbing can lead to faster tire wear and may even cause the tire to break during operation if the damage continues over time. I have reported this to Toyota customer service and all they say they do is file a report.

I was driving on the 60 freeway with my two small children when all of these safety systems failed at the same time. The truck also began pulling to the right and hesitating during acceleration. With the airbag system, pre-collision system, and stability control disabled, our safety was seriously at risk, especially at freeway speeds. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Crown Toyota advised me not to drive the vehicle and instructed me to have it towed immediately as an emergency. They confirmed the warnings and safety alerts. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle was inspected by crown Toyota service technicians. They noted the safety system malfunctions and the active engine recall. Toyota corporate has opened a repurchase case: #251118002114. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes. While driving, the dashboard displayed multiple malfunction warnings: airbag malfunction pre-collision system malfunction vehicle stability control malfunction sonar system malfunction the “contact dealer immediately” message also appeared. These warnings first appeared on November 13, 2025, while I was on the freeway.
On September 4, 2025, I brought my 2001 Toyota Tundra to midas at 5325 olde wadsworth blvd, arvada, CO 80002 for an oil change and inspection. Midas advertises a “closer look vehicle check,” which includes checking steering, suspension, and wheels. Their inspection report marked the steering system as “ok” and only noted mild shock wear. Less than a month later, while exiting the highway, the lower ball joint failed completely, causing the front suspension and wheel to detach. I immediately lost steering control. Fortunately, this occurred at low speed; had it happened moments earlier on the highway, it could have caused a major collision or fatalities. The failed component (lower ball joint and related suspension parts) is still available for inspection. An independent mechanic later confirmed that the joint was severely worn and the failure appeared to be due to long-term deterioration that should have been detected during midas’s inspection. No warning lights or indicators appeared before the failure. The incident endangered my life, my passengers’ safety, and other drivers on the road. The business has refused to take responsibility or cover repair costs, which currently total over $2,400, despite their advertised inspection and guarantee. This raises serious concerns that midas and potentially other service locations may be failing to properly inspect critical suspension components, which poses a major public safety hazard.

The vehicle was purchased brand new from an authorized franchised dealership, sold and contracted as being equipped with a dealer-installed 2. 5-inch suspension lift. At approximately 20,000 miles, a severe front-end squeaking symptom developed. The vehicle was brought to a separate authorized Toyota dealership service center for inspection. An authorized Toyota master technician formally inspected the vehicle and documented that the selling dealership did not install an engineered suspension lift. Instead, they installed unauthorized, budget aftermarket spacer pucks and non-certified upper control arms. The master technician documented in writing that the vehicle "isn't even lifted properly" and a factory front strut has failed prematurely. Safety risk: the unauthorized spacer modification has severely altered and compromised the factory steering and suspension geometry. Because the front suspension, upper control arms, ball joints, struts, and steering rack are forced to operate continuously at unsafe, extreme, out-of-spec angles, the components are subjected to premature, destructive stress. The master technician confirmed that this improper configuration creates an imminent highway life-safety hazard, presenting an extreme risk of the front cv axles binding or snapping at highway speeds, which would result in an immediate, catastrophic loss of steering control. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety defect has been explicitly reproduced and confirmed in writing by an authorized Toyota master technician. The selling dealership management has been formally notified of this safety diagnosis but has actively refused to remediate the unsafe components, leaving a structurally compromised and highly dangerous vehicle operating on public highways.

The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed there was no recall coverage on the VIN related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
On August 31, 2025, my 2025 Toyota Tundra experienced a sudden steering failure while I was driving, which caused an accident with a parked vehicle. The steering wheel completely seized up and I was unable to control the vehicle. This was a serious safety hazard that put my life and the lives of others on the road at risk. The vehicle showed warning messages and error codes related to the steering system immediately before and after the crash. The problem was unexpected and there was no prior damage to the vehicle that would explain this. The vehicle is currently at a Toyota dealership, where the dealer has confirmed that the inspection has been submitted to Toyota corporate for review. My insurance company has also inspected the vehicle. At this time, Toyota has not provided me with a resolution. This appears to be a manufacturer defect in the steering system. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
I had to have the steering rack assembly replaced in my vehicle due to a leak. This is one of the complaints and a recall but I never got a notification.

Getting a random power steering malfunction, steering power low.
My 2022 had a new crate engine put in at 26,000 miles in approx June 2025 (told me it would be 2 days but in less than 24hrs the service advisor called and told me it was completed) and from the second I picked up my truck and started it at the dealership, I heard a loud, fast ticking noisy sound coming from under the hood so I popped my hood and it sounded like a diesel engine and as I started driving I felt a weird popping/vibrating noise when turning either right or left at slow speeds and it felt like there were no shocks or motor mounts or something was bent and the rear end was skipping and making a loud thud when slightly stepping on gas pedal and Toyota said it's all normal. It also lost all power while I was driving 2 days after I picked it up from engine replacement along with the continuous surging forward when taking off from stop sign or red light. My front seat is cracked and they refused to fix it under warranty, my brakes squeal so bad and they said they ordered parts under TSB but it will be months before they come in, it's now been 7 months and still nothing. I will not drive further than 10 miles from my home every time I get in this truck and put it in d, I fear for my life and when I put it in p, I breathe a sigh of relief. Autonation Toyota in weston, FL replaced my engine and I truly believe that whoever put my new engine in, didn't put it back together correctly and damaged the suspension/steering system as well as the new ticking engine that is so rough. My new 2nd engine needs another engine. I feel like this truck is going to get me killed.
I am experiencing premature and uneven tire wear on my 2024 Toyota Tundra, specifically on the outer edges of the front tires. This has occurred despite proper rotation and no off-road use, the tires showed significant edge wear. Multiple alignment checks revealed improper front end camber and toe settings, which appear to be part of a wider issue affecting many 2022-2024 Tundra's, especially 4wd models. Toyota has not issued a recall but has quietly revised alignment specifications at the dealer level to address the problem. This defect compromises tire life, vehicle handling, and potentially safety. I believe this issue should be formally investigated and addressed by the NHTSA.
I need to have rear shock replaced. They found that the bracket holder rusted thru . Shock was fine . The rear frame corrosion and separation, spare tire frame corrosion is really bad. I have had this truck since 2004 . I absolutely love my truck. I am deeply saddened that all the care I took still didn’t prevent all this damage .
First I had my engine replaced in may 2025 under the recall and service advisor informed me it would be about 3 days before they completed the engine swap and it had to sit to make sure there were no leaks anywhere and in less than 24 hrs the called me and told me my truck was all done. I went to pick my truck up they had it waiting in the service line with the engine running, I heard a strange ticking noise coming from under my hood that sounded like a lawnmower engine, the service tech tells me that is normal with the replacement engines which is absolutely false. Being a woman they tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I got frustrated and got in my truck and when I came to the first stoplight when the light turned green and I stepped on the gas pedal, my truck would not move, after about 5 seconds it surged forward and then again wouldn't move, then again my truck surged forward with a loud thud in the rear like somebody hit me from behind. It feels like it isn't kicking into gear and also my steering wheel was not centered when they swapped the engine so I have to hold my steering off to one side for my truck to drive straight. This has been a nightmare for me and Toyota refuses to acknowledge there is anything wrong. I've also been waiting for 7 months to get my front brakes fixed under the TSB and all they say is we don't have parts available, meanwhile they're building new trucks with new brake pads, rotors and calipers before taking care of the people waiting months and months? they try and wait until your warranty runs out so I have to pay for the fix. Vehicle was accelerating down hill when engine stopped light came on stop in a safe place. I could not accelerate the gas or control the steering vehicle glided halfway to the side of the road before stopping. Engine stopped completely when exiting the vehicle smoke was coming out of the front hood. I could not shift the vehicles gears the system was completely locked up. Steering power low light came on. Engine stopped light came on. Tried to contact roadside assistance no one came for over 3 hours. Neighbors called a police officer and they had to tow it due to it being in an unsafe location (blocking traffic on a two lane road) without street lights. Vehicle was towed to marietta Toyota dealership.
The power steering failed at around 38,000 miles. The dealership indicated the entire assembly needs to be replaced which cost more than $6,000. This is apparently a known manufacturing issue as they recalled a significant portion of the vehicles made in 2021.

My son was driving our 2023 Toyota Tundra (non-hybrid) at approximately 25-30 miles an hour when the engine shut down. He had difficulty steering but was able to safely brake to a stop in the middle of the road. Cars were forced to pass him on the shoulder. He was unable to restart the engine for what he estimates was approximately one minute. He was finally able to restart the engine and drive home. The next day I drove it to the Toyota dealer. The engine stalled on me one block from the dealer on a busy intersection. I was able to get it restarted, out of traffic and into the dealership where it sits today. There were no apparent symptoms with the vehicle prior to it stalling on my son. I received an engine failure warning message when the vehicle stalled on me. The dealership looked at the engine and stated that there is lose debris in the engine. The dealership has stated that they are unable to give me a diagnoses letter or a repair order at this time. Once they repair is made, they can give me something in writing. This issue appears to be similar safety recall 24ta07. However, Toyota is stating that my vehicle does not fall under 24ta07. It appears have a vehicle with an engine stall safety issue that is not attached to a recall.
