The outer edges of front tires wearing excessively. They replaced 2 around 20k milage and there are many reports of the same issue from factory alignment and camber. The tire appears to be splitting prematurely.

All four tires on my 2025 Toyota Tundra experienced severe and abnormal outside edge wear at approximately 13,000 miles. The vehicle was purchased new and maintained according to manufacturer recommendations, including tire rotations every 5,000 miles at authorized Toyota dealerships. An authorized Toyota dealership inspected the vehicle, documented the abnormal tire wear, and performed alignment measurements. The dealership issued a written recommendation stating that a four-wheel alignment was needed to extend tire life and/or correct drivability concerns. Alignment measurements showed values outside specification. The tire manufacturer reviewed photos and documentation and confirmed the wear pattern is caused by vehicle alignment and not a tire manufacturing defect. The condition affected all four tires and required premature replacement, creating a potential safety concern due to reduced tread depth and handling stability. The issue appears to be related to steering or suspension geometry rather than normal tire wear.
Tires have 15,000 miles on them and are the stock oem tires/wheels. They have excessive outer tire wear and need replaced from this. Inner tire wear is on par with the center tire wear. Alignment is confirmed to Toyota oem specs.
According to Toyota, the 2022-2026 Tundra is compatible with 35x11. 5 tires. These tires were installed by the dealer before my purchase. However, during turns, the tires heavily rub against the sway bar. This issue may be specific to the trd upgrade package, which includes an upgraded, thicker sway bar. After driving for just 500 miles, noticeable rub marks have developed on both sides of the sway bar and visible marks on the inside of the tire. Tire rubbing can lead to faster tire wear and may even cause the tire to break during operation if the damage continues over time. I have reported this to Toyota customer service and all they say they do is file a report.
Both front tires have premature wear to the outer edge. Additionally, all four tires have warned to 3/32" with less than 30,000 miles on them. Vehicle has been serviced by Toyota every 5,000 miles. All components have been inspected and per Toyota the vehicle alignment is within spec per manufacture. That being the case, the tires shouldn't wear unless there is a manufacture defect. Toyota nor falken wants to honor the warranty or take responsibility for the defect of the oem equipment. Toyota has a TSB for the Tundra alignment with 18" tires but refuse to add trucks with the 20" tires. They keep pointing the finger at each other leaving the customer with zero resolution. Others have replaced the tires but having the same issue reoccur. This is a safety concern as premature wear can contribute to poor cornering in curves, turns, and handling in wet or icy conditions.

On September 4, 2025, I brought my 2001 Toyota Tundra to midas at 5325 olde wadsworth blvd, arvada, CO 80002 for an oil change and inspection. Midas advertises a “closer look vehicle check,” which includes checking steering, suspension, and wheels. Their inspection report marked the steering system as “ok” and only noted mild shock wear. Less than a month later, while exiting the highway, the lower ball joint failed completely, causing the front suspension and wheel to detach. I immediately lost steering control. Fortunately, this occurred at low speed; had it happened moments earlier on the highway, it could have caused a major collision or fatalities. The failed component (lower ball joint and related suspension parts) is still available for inspection. An independent mechanic later confirmed that the joint was severely worn and the failure appeared to be due to long-term deterioration that should have been detected during midas’s inspection. No warning lights or indicators appeared before the failure. The incident endangered my life, my passengers’ safety, and other drivers on the road. The business has refused to take responsibility or cover repair costs, which currently total over $2,400, despite their advertised inspection and guarantee. This raises serious concerns that midas and potentially other service locations may be failing to properly inspect critical suspension components, which poses a major public safety hazard.

Complaint against: Toyota motor north America category: vehicle warranty obligations Toyota USA case number: 250718001831 dealer: Toyota carlsbad service advisor: ken mcdonald date warranty claim submitted: June 24, 2025 date of denial: July 25, 2025 I am filing a complaint regarding Toyota’s denial of warranty coverage for premature tire wear on all four factory-installed falken wildpeak a/t3w 285/65r18 tires on my 2024 Toyota Tundra trd pro. By 15,000 miles, I observed outer edge wear — a typical symptom of incorrect factory alignment. Following the dealer’s recommendation, I performed an alignment, and all scheduled maintenance, including tire rotations, has been completed at authorized Toyota dealerships. On June 24, 2025, I submitted a warranty claim at Toyota carlsbad. Ken mcdonald inspected the tires and took photos, but no diagnostic work was performed — no alignment check, no suspension inspection. A month later, Toyota USA denied the claim based solely on ken mcdonald’s verbal opinion that “the problem is with the tires,” without any technical evaluation or factual basis. This is unacceptable. My issue clearly matches Toyota service campaign 24td01, which confirms that certain 2022–2024 Tundra models may experience premature outer edge tire wear due to factory misalignment. My vehicle fits this description exactly. Requested resolution: replacement of the damaged tires under warranty or fair compensation for the financial loss. Toyota’s response represents a failure to uphold warranty obligations, raises serious safety concerns, and violates consumer rights. I respectfully request that the better business bureau help ensure this case is reviewed fairly.
I am the original owner of a brand new 2024 Toyota Tundra trd pro, and this issue began within the first 15,000 miles of regular dealer-maintained use. At approximately 14,800 miles, I noticed unusual and rapid outer shoulder wear on all four oem falken wildpeak a/t3w 285/65r18 tires. A professional alignment inspection performed by Toyota carlsbad dealership confirmed that the factory-set front toe angle was significantly out of Toyota’s specification (left front toe: +0. 30°, right front: +0. 10°, total front toe: +0. 39°). This incorrect alignment was present from the factory and caused tire damage before any corrections were made. These settings match exactly what is described in Toyota limited service campaign 24td01, which applies to 2022–2023 Tundra models. However, my 2024 vehicle is not included, even though the defect and symptoms are identical. The alignment defect was confirmed and corrected by the dealership, but Toyota refused to replace the damaged tires, stating it is not a warrantable condition. However, this wear was directly caused by the misalignment on a new, factory-spec vehicle, maintained per Toyota guidelines. This condition presents a clear safety risk, as premature outer tire wear significantly reduces traction, affects handling, and increases stopping distance—especially in wet or emergency conditions. There were no warning lights or messages, making the condition undetectable until visible tire damage occurred. I filed a formal complaint with Toyota USA, but they declined further assistance. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether Toyota should expand campaign 24td01 to include 2024 models with the same alignment-related defect. The tires are available for inspection. I have supporting documentation including alignment reports, photos of tire wear, and communications with Toyota regarding this case #.
My factory stock Toyota painted steel wheels rotted and I had a 6 inch long area rusted through inside the rim losing air. I was advised by my tire center ,that I took it to ,that was not safe to drive on. I called my local Toyota dealer service manager and was told it was road corrosion and was not under any warranty. What would of happened if I had been on the highway and had a rapid deflation of the tire or what if the wheel broke and came apart. The truck has no rust. I replaced all 4 wheels the very next day. These wheels should be recalled and inspected and replaced if needed before someone gets hurt.

My Tundra iforce max was Toyota saleperson demo truck before I purchased it. Got my truck approx. 2xxx mileage in late sept. I started noticed transmission vibration while medium acceleration approx. 40 mph in early October. Vibration only occur during transmission warm up. Been attending to 2 dealerships multiple times and they find nothing wrong with my transmission since November 2024. I got loaner 2024 Tundra iforce recently with same 10 speed transmission, it felt lot smoother and no vibration at all for a whole week before return the loaner. The vibration from my Tundra feels like clutch slippery somewhere from transmission or k0 clutch. Some time it makes the acceleration feels delay while it was vibrating aka slippery. 2nd problem, I noticed left front tire edge shows sign of start worn out while tire is only have 8k miles on it. Dealership checked the alignment and said nothing found wrong. They recommended me to tire rotation on 5k miles without offer replace tire that is about to show bald on edge. Tire is factory off road package tire aka falken wildpeak at3wa. 3rd problem, during first oil change at 5k miles. I noticed there is oil residue on bottom bell housing between engine and electric motor. Dealership cleaned it and wanted me to come back at 10k miles routine maintenance inspection. Around 6k miles, I took a look at the leak area. Oil came back as seeping. Dealership denied and said there is no leak at this time. Saw the oil residue from their inspection report.
Factory alignment was out of specification causing premature tire wear. The original factory toe and camber angle settings for the front wheels caused "feathering" and premature wear on the outside shoulders of the tires. My VIN was not included in the service campaign but per the dealer it was the exact same issue they have observed in other Tundras. I contacted Toyota and was not able to get resolution regarding a new set of tires.
Apparently widespread issue with uneven tire wear. I know multiple owners with the same issue despite rotating tires even 5k miles (myself included. They did apparently correct the issues with the trd pro but have failed to solve it for the rest of the line up. Much more wear on the outer aspects of the tires.
Excessive wear on tires at the edge due to vehicle not holding alignment. Contacted tire manufacturer with pictures and they have confirmed its a vehicle alignment issue. Vehicle has been aligned at Toyota dealership always, but still it is consuming tires and outer edges are now below dangerous levels. Toyota is offering no remedy.
Excessive tire wear, even after repeated alignments at Toyota dealerships. Tire excessively weakened within 20,000 miles leading to unsafe driving conditions.
Driving straight at 30mph and wheel came off causing near deadly collision. Upon inspection it is evident that the wheel separated from its ball joints. Further research strongly suggests that this is a known defect of this year/make/model, even though the recall was issued only for the subsequent years vehicle. This is a potentially deadly design flaw and not an isolated manufacturing defect as Toyota claims.
The 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tundra trd pro model comes out of the factory with the wrong alignment specs from the factory causing excessive tire wear on the front tires resulting in unsafe driving tires. Toyota has been “fixing the alignment with the wrong specs resulting in not fixing it “ now they have the correct specs but not issuing a recall as they should .
I took my vehicle in for scheduled maintenance. During the safety inspection the Toyota authorized tech advised me about a serious safety issue with rust on the undercarriage of my vehicle. He advised that the control arms as well as sway bars and suspension , shocks, struts had heavy rust on them. He advised that this is a safety issue as if something breaks I could loose control. I have enclosed the video. I then contacted first team Toyota and they initially wanted me to bring the truck in for inspection. The next day they called and told me that since I was no longer under warranty , that they could not help me. I was also told that the undercoating I paid extra for does not cover the parts that are rusted. I contacted Toyota corporate and they opened a case #230719000857. After several days they decided that there was nothing they could do for me. I have my vehicle serviced routinely and have never been advised of any rust problems on my truck. Then after the warranty runs out, I’m advised of this problem. I take extreme care of my truck and spray the under carriage with fresh water whenever I drive thru rain or puddles. I am extremely concerned regarding the safety of this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the tpms warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the tire pressure sensors had been mismatched on the vehicle due to the wheels being replaced. The contact had been advised that the dealer would not replace the sensors with the correct parts. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,900.

In 2017 while driving home from a restaurant with my husband, mother and sister when on highway 60 in show low arizona we started experiencing a shaking which seemed to come from the from end of the truck. Since we were only a short distance from home we slowly made our way down the side road. As soon as we turned into our driveway the truck came to a quick stop. We jumped out and found that the passenger front tire and rim had separated from the truck. A full bed tow truck came and took the truck to hatch Toyota in show low arizona. The second incident occurred last year (2021) while we were moving to sarcoxie missouri. My husband was on interstate 40 just east of albuquerque when he experienced the truck shaking and upon immediately pulling off to the side of the road noted the left front wheel and rim had separated from the vehicle. The truck was taken to the albuquerque Toyota for repair. I am having the rims replaced at this time as I understand that after-market rims may be the cause. I would really like to know for sure. I would not want to trade this truck in for fear of another family being harmed.
On June 9th at about 2pm while driving through my neighborhood, my upper an lower ball joints on my 2002 Toyota Tundra separated from my vehicle causing a catastrophic loss of control of truck and tore my hub with tire from vehicle ripping the brake fuel line and shoving entire components up under my Tundra while losing control with no brakes or steering capability. It also destroyed the drivers side front tire. Needless to say if I was say. . . Going 55 to 60 miles per hour on highway. . . I would not be writing this. Had truck towed to checkered flag Toyota and they quoted me a price of over1300$ in repairs. . . They are fighting me on fixing my truck damages even though said damages were caused by the ball joint recall on the 2002 Tundra. . . Recall I d#05v.

Wheels:lugs/nuts/bolts. Summary: I have problem with lug nut right rear side of truck won't come loose nut keep spinning has a factory defect possible this year of vehicles should be listed in 2013&2014 recall I hope this and the time gone by does not effect me and my safety this should be dealer responsibility and fix.
I bought a 2020 Tundra in mid year of 2020. By December 2020 I started to notice a strong vibration in the steering and from the front end between the low speeds of 20-30 mph and between 60-70 mph. The hotter the vehicle gets the more vibration occurs. Now my alignment seems off and curves to the left when trying to drive straight. I have taken it in to alamo Toyota and red mccombs in san antonio on many occasions with similar problems but all they are doing is balancing and rotation of tires. I have sent the dealership videos of the vibration but they indicate it’s normal. This certainly does not appear normal and is now more of a safety issue. Not sure what else to do!.
