Seems to be an issue with the rear hatch and the locking system. Without any recent rain or snow the locking system will get frozen and not close correctly or open correctly. We though the hatch was closed but it popped open while backing up. We had taken the car to the dealership. The issue has occured twice.

Indeed, I recently encountered a concerning issue with my 2021 Toyota Venza. The problem manifested in mid-July, during the process of preparing to enter my vehicle. To my dismay, the door refused to open. Despite my repeated attempts to use the keyless entry system, the door stubbornly remained closed. Consequently, I was compelled to resort to using my key fob, which presented its own challenges. While I would not typically express such frustration, the safety implications of this issue are significant and have become quite inconvenient for me. As a physically disabled individual, I rely on a scooter lift in the rear of my vehicle to facilitate my mobility. This lift allows me to walk to the front of the car while holding onto the side for stability, preventing potential falls. On the day in question, I slipped my hand behind the handle of the door to open it and it didn't work. When I attempted to activate the unlock button on my key fob, it failed to respond. Despite my repeated attempts to press the button at least ten times, it remained unresponsive. By this point, my legs had become increasingly weak, to the extent that I felt a slight loss of balance when using the key. As a physically disabled individual and of an advanced age, I am unable to stand for extended periods. Therefore, this issue has caused me considerable stress and emotional distress. Upon visiting my local Toyota dealer, I was informed that the repair would incur a cost of approximately $800, which I unfortunately lack the financial means to cover. Consequently, I contacted Toyota’s 800 number to inquire about any special financial hardship programs that might assist me in paying for this repair. Regrettably, I was informed that such programs were not available. This situation has become increasingly frustrating for me. I find it difficult to reconcile the fact that Toyota has a history of encountering numerous issues with various of its models.

Spontaneous windshield crack that has slowly spread across entire windshield. Driving with no vehicles around and crack just appeared. Windshield is defective.
The Toyota part number 69030-53120, a front door lock assembly (lock assy, fr door), is a genuine part used across various 2022 Toyota models, including the rav4 and tacoma. Went to the dealer for a diagnoses with problems unlocking and locking my doors and it was deemed defective 0-69030-53120 lock assy, fr doo spcord by a Toyota dealer. Both front doors don’t work the lock assy and it was detected at 38,000 miles approx.
Windshield broke for no reason. Long crack across bottom of windshield.
Front windshield randomly cracked, with number and size of cracks growing as vehicle is driven. Cracked windshield is not a result of any rocks or debris strikes.
2022 Toyota Venza was purchased brand new in February 2022. Vehicle started to experience an issue in may 2023 with approximately 38k miles. Power lift gate struggles to close hatch/lift gate. Motor and struts make groaning noises. Vehicle out of warranty due to over 36k miles. Now power lift gate is groaning and grinding when shut as of October 2023 with 44k miles. Many reports of similar problems reported online by other owners of 2021 Toyota Venza and 2022 Toyota Venza. Toyota dealership and corporate says it a customer expense. . . Out of warranty. $1700 bill for owner of 1 year old vehicle due to defective craftsmanship. Not sure power lift gate will be able to close in a few weeks or so.

On may 19, 2021, 5 days after purchasing the 2021 Venza xle, I got a rock peck about 6 inches from the bottom on the driver side center of the windshield. I was on my way home and stopped by a windshield repair shop to see if it could be repaired to avoid further damage. The repair shop said it could and to return the following noon with the car. By the following morning, the small peck had turned into a 12 inch long run. Now it's about 30 inches long. A replacement windshield ($964 for the part) has been ordered but is on back-order with no projected delivery date. There are no aftermarket options.
Hood is stuck close. It has happened at least 3 times. Possible problem is latch. The vehicle is stationary and engine not running parked in garage.

Water leak from panoramic sunroof when it rains. Side pillar posts. Have read several reviews including: shorted out the power window controls, owners had to dismantled moonroof on their own to add sealant or glue. This should be Toyota's responsibility as a factory issue. Dealers are not taking responsibility for it. Issue has been going on for about 2yrs but I just found out I could make complaint here. Please assist.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Toyota Venza. The contact stated that they were in a crash and their driver seat was damaged . The contact was stoped in their vehicle and another vehicle was driving at 56 mph (police officer speed estimation). The other vehicle struck the contact from behind and on impact the driver's seat went forward and then back into the back seats. The air bags did not deploy. The contact did sustain minor back injuries and they did recieve medical attention. A police report was filled. The vehicle was then towed to a local body shop where the mechanic could do nothing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the issue and sent a representative to the contact. The Toyota mechanic came to the contacts home and inspected but did not diagnose the vehicle. The field mechanic stated that the seat in the vehicle is still operating properly. However the seat and back side of the vehicle is still damaged. The failure mileage was 30,000. Jw.
Unsafe to drive rust corrosion of sub frame. Vehicle kept in garage and brought into Toyota dealer every 5k miles for maintenance since purchase in 2011. My problem is the faulty sub frame part and the dealership neglect.

The sunroof/moonroof leak every time it rains. The water leaks into the front and back of the car. This is damaging the upholstery and may be causing electrical or structural (rust) damage as well.

The power-driven back hatch caught some fingers in it as it closed. This happened to me (evan l. Ivie) several weeks ago and I ignored it. It happened to my grandson (russel evan ivie) yesterday. It didn't break any bones but did do some flesh damage and caused some serious pain. Is there any way of turning off the power-driven feature? dr. Evan l. Ivie.
Car was slowly pulling into a parking spot, when all of a sudden it revved its engine and accelarated. My foot was on the brake and it would not stop. The revving noise was loud. I hit a large tree that was luckily at the end of the parking spot. The tree is what stopped the car. When the car stopped, I looked and saw was in drive. I was able to put in reverse and back up and park safely. I shut the car off immediately.
The panaramic sun/moon roof has comprehensive issues with regard to stability and safety. When driving over an uneven surface, speedbump, or other non-smooth surface, there is a loud and jarring pop from the overhead roof area of the car where the panaramic sun/moon roof is installed. It is concerning and sounds as if it has the potential to shatter or implode onto passengers inside the vehicle. I inquired about this at oxmoor Toyota in louisville, kentucky asking that it be replaced since my particular vehicle was certified and came with a bumper-to-bumper warranty and they refused, saying it wasn't covered and suggested I file a TSB.
The power door lock actuators in Toyota vehicles from this year model are defective. They only last about a year or two before they stop working. Replacing the actuator is a very time intensive procedure and the component is not cheap either. Our vehicle has had three of the four door lock actuators fail in less than three years. We purchased the vehicle new and the actuators failed under normal use. I have another older Toyota with well over 200,000 miles and the actuators work just fine. This type of failure on a simple everyday component is unacceptable. A quick search around the internet will reveal that the actuators failing is a common theme among newer Toyota vehicles. This defective part exists in almost every Toyota car and some SUV and truck models. Toyota is unable to produce a reliable door lock actuator.

On April 11, 2016, a complain was submitted under taraka: complaint num: 10854818 for a Toyota Venza 2011. While car in motion at around 55mph, on a highway, normal road conditions and excellent car maintenance a loud explosion burst occurred in the car. With no visibility at all, I managed to control the car and stopped it. Then, I noticed that the hood suddenly had pop-up without any type of alert of flashlight on the instrument panel. There was no hood vibration that would suggest it was opened. I did a panic stop and tried to control the car avoiding a collision; the airbag was not deployed at a potential collision. The burst completely destroyed the front glass; bumpers were moved out of place and damage the roof of car. My mechanic scanned the black box and no code was present. I took the car to the Toyota dealer and after 5 days they notified to remove the car from their premises because they did not have technicians available for the next month to check it. I removed the car and waited 30 additional days for their inspection with no positive results. After more than a month, I took the car to a collision center where it was repaired and the diagnosis was that the hood lock system, in specific the latch and springs were rusty and the latch had stuck problems_ unable to close completely the hood. The car gets its maintenance almost every 5 months_ only at the Toyota dealer. I examined the car maintenance invoices from the Toyota dealer as well as the car manual and there is no evidence or advice that the hood lock system and latches were lubricated or a note advising periodic lubrication. There could be another possibility that the hood lock system may have some type of other defect, which is not visible to the naked eye. This problem represents a critical unsafe risk. The sudden/panic stop I did caused me personal injuries.
Takata recall while car in motion at around 50mph on a highway, under normal road conditions and excellent car maintenance, a mysterious loud explosion burst occurred in the car. Then I noticed that the hood suddenly popped-up without any type of alert of flash light on the instrument panel, no hood vibration that would suggest it was opened. Although, I did a panic stop the airbag was not deployed at a potential collision. The burst broke the front glass, hood latches, bumpers were moved out of place. A mechanical failure or an electronic one, which activates the hood controls, could cause the problem. My mechanic scanned the black box and no code was present. This unknown problem may represent a critical unsafe risk. This accident with a sudden stop caused personal injuries.
I was approaching a stop sign at the corner or church and main streets in chester, vermont at less than 10 mph the car surged forward and would not stop I t-boned a car coming down main street and the car continued to surge across the road this is a surging problem that Toyota is fully aware of.
On 10/08/14 upon making a long turn off of the interstate onto a service road at less than 45 mph, the panoramic roof shattered. The vehicle was taken to the local Toyota dealership immediately to be replaced under warranty. We were first told defective glass. After 6 months, there is a popping sound from the roof when making turns or going over things like railroad tracks and the roof has begun to leak. Took the vehicle in for the leak repair on 8/7/15. As of 8/17/15 the roof is leaking again and the popping sound is getting worse and sounds like another breakage is near. Were told that this was an issue that Toyota couldn't fix due to a lack of structural supports in the roof which allows for excessive chassis flex and advised to live with it if possible. This is a major safety concern that Toyota needs to address. Other Venzas have also had the same issue.
I was on the freeway all of sudden traffic stooped , I hit the brakes no abs the traction lite came on car went to neutral . I had an impact at 20. 1 mph according to Toyotas black box. The front end was damaged in the tune of $8300. 00 tore the front bumper off severe frame damage all in the area of the air bag sensor that was tore off. Come to find out after the accident their was an air bag recall we were never notified. The vehicle was fixed by a body shop recommended by the dealership that never checked out the system, I took it in for the recall they did not perform as per their supplemental documents from your web site. Now I have nerve damage and tendentious as I braced myself and bent the steering wheel. I have asked and asked for help from Toyota they told me the impact was not severe enough . My understanding is the air bags deploy at a 10 to 15 mph impact I hit at 20 plus . Their is a major flaw on the traction system the lite comes on when you apply the brake , I was told that my foot was to big and I push the brake to hard and I should not of bought the car. Edmund's web site has hundreds of complaints of cars acting the same way and some people have their cars stall in intersections . Bottom line with this issue someone is or has going to be killed unless their is a recall or investigation. I can be reached at 561-714-0519 thank you.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Toyota Venza. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked, the lift gate was released open with the key fob. The vehicle was equipped with the auto close feature, however the lift gate closed abruptly which trapped the child's fingers. The two fingers on the left hand were severely bruised. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage and VIN were unavailable. Aa.
While coming to a stop to park with my foot on the break the car suddenly lunged forward crashing into the wire cables in front of the parking spot.
I was driving my vehicle to work with the sunroof closed and the sun visor open when suddenly I heard a loud bang, like a gunshot, and my sunroof shattered. It scared me and nearly caused me to run off the road; thankfully there were no other cars anywhere near me. I am certain it wasn't hit by a rock or something as there were no cars in front of me and also I wasn't near any overpasses. Upon research, this issue seems to be common with Toyota, so I contacted Toyota motor corporation through their customer service line. After a couple follow up calls, Toyota basically said it was not their problem and nothing they could do. I'm lucky this didn't cut me up or cause me to crash. Hopefully this doesn't keep happening.
On a brand new 2012 Toyota Venza, purchased new with 12 miles on it, in March of 2012, there is copious amounts of rust on top of the paint on the hood, front bumper, and surrounding side panels, doors, hatch, and back bumper. Note, the majority of the rust is evolving on top of the paint, where no bare metal is exposed. It can be buffed off, but this only temporarily solves the problem, as the rust continues to grow, even after removal. On the front bumper and hood, there are large rusting spots where small chips exposing metal, less than 1cm (considered to be from gravel) exist. For visual affect, it looks at though someone dipped a large paint brush in orange paint and splattered/speckled it over the entire vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Venza. The contact stated that there was excessive rust under the rear passenger seats. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.
While entering the interstate I was approaching about 60 mph when all of a sudden I hear a very loud pop! I was startled thinking someone had shot a gun! it caused me to slow down and to almost be rear ended. I looked up to find my sunroof had exploded for no apparent reason.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Toyota Venza. The contact stated that while manually closing the lift gate the automatic power feature activated and closed on his left middle finger. The contact sought medical attention where stiches were applied to his finger. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not available. The vehicle was not repaired 2,900.
I was driving at about 45 mph and windshield just cracked without anything being thrown at or any rock and debris hit. It is a about 4 feet crack. Many glass experts agree that it is a material defect. Talked to Toyota delear and their position is it casued due to rock/debris hit.
