The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Venza. While the vehicle was parked, the hatchback failed to close when using the remote access. The contact stated that the hatchback needed to be manually closed. Initially, there was an issue with the hatchback failing to open using the remote access. The contact stated that the failure occurred without warning and a grinding sound could be heard coming from the rear driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

2013 Toyota Venza. Consumer writes in regards to fingers being crushed in rear hatch incident. The consumer stated he and his wife were looking at the vehicle. When his wife used both hands to slowly close the hatch, the automated feature grabbed the hatch bringing it to full closure on his wife's fingers.
