My back up lights don't work and my trunk wont open. I brought new light and they still wont come on. The trunk wont open from the remote or the door. I have to put down my back seat and use the emergency open latch to open the trunk. I took it to the dealer and the picture below is the problem the trunk wiring harness has a few wires broken and was told it couldn't be fix it had to be replaced. This seems to be a problem that a few of these cars have had why hasn't there been a recall. I could have been in an accident not knowing my back up light wasn't working.

Wiring harness running through the trunk area of the vehicle is routed in such a manner that opening and closing the trunk causes the insulation to chafe, resulting in a short circuit which causes the trunk to open without warning while the vehicle is in motion and the tail/brake lights to cease functioning properly.
Ihave had to replace the trunk wiring harness twice. It rubs on the opening and closing of the trunk and fails. The design should be fixed.

Wiring harness for trunk has pinch point causing the wire insulation and wires to break. This harness has rear lights in the same harness. Had to replace trunk harness, car is 5 years old and has 65000 miles. Latch and door switch stopped working, diagnosis was short in harness. I took old harness from dealer and pulled back cover and found all wires were bare.
