Car has 85,000 miles. Transmission fails at low speeds going into d or r. Lights start blinking (p r n d s) periodically. Unpredictable when it will happen, can be anytime you're at slow speed. Turning it off and on temporarily fixes but I ran an obd and came back p2711. This is for a failure with the dsg transmission. Svc bulletin recommends the clutch packs be replaced. Dealer quoted almost 3k to do this. They did not initially acknowledge the extended warranty on the dsg even after I pointed it out. What is worse, this car was taken when only 4 yrs and 49k miles for transmission work and they recommended it be replace (for a quote over 2k) but did not mention the warranty at the time. Service the transmission at the 40k intervals! even if you do, it might fail! at least be aware of the dsg 10yr 100k miles warranty - must have trans fluid change records though! 49k miles and they recommended a trans replacement!!!! 49k miles! and didn't honor the warranty and get it fixed then. . . Dealers are very hit or miss (all miss from what I've experienced).

Dsg gearbox transmission fails under 100,000 miles. After driving the car in traffic (many stops/starts) the transmissions jerks between shifts, and emits a loud 'clunk' when shifting.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. While driving approximately 35 mph he attempted to accelerate further but the vehicle would not respond. He was only able to drive at very low speeds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Approximately 11 months later the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where he was informed the transmission failed again and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 1,400 and the current mileage was 11,000.
Purchased 2008 vw eox on 09/11/2009. Car would briefly stall-out and pop into gear when accelerating into traffic from a stop. 02/12/08 - dealer could not duplicate or find error codes. 12/16/08 - car has become worse, stalls more often, rolls backwards, bangs - dealer could not duplicate or find error codes. 03/18/09 - after almost having an accident from the transmission failure, dealer scans and found no failure records - unable to duplicate. 07/07/09 - dealer was able to verify problem by test driving - 07/31/09 - dealer replaced mechatronics unit. The car drove better than ever after the replacement. Yesterday 08/27/09 car stalled lurched, banged, and slipped through gears when accelerating from a stop into traffic. Narrowly missed having an accident.

On acceleration from a standstill, the vehicle stalls / stutters. Transmission fails to immediately engage and / or there is a lag of as much as 2-3 seconds from pressing the accelerator under light to moderate acceleration until the vehicle begins to move. Transmission clunks / grinds when transitioned from d to r or r to d.
