I slowly at 5mph went over a bump and my car went automatically into neutral, all of the p r n d s lights on the dash started blinking and the car just kept revving when I tried to put it into gear. I had the car towed to the dealership and it is currently there. I looked on kelly blue book and saw there was a recall for my vehicle type and the recall states exactly what happened to my car. Can my VIN number be added to this recall since it is the very same mechanical issue? here is the information I found on the recall NHTSA campaign 09v333000 report date: Aug 20, 2009 vehicles affected: 16000 what you should Volkswagen will notify owners, inspect the dsg and, if necessary, replace an affected dsg temperature sensor free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Volkswagen at 1-800-822-8987. Summary: Volkswagen is recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 passenger cars manufactured between September 2008 and August 2009. The wiring harness of a temperature sensor in the direct shift gearbox (dsg) may have connector wires that were insufficiently crimped. With insufficiently crimped connector wires, a temperature sensor has the potential to falsely detect a high gearbox oil temperature, causing the transmission to abruptly shift to neutral. If this happens, the selector lever position indicator within the instrument panel will flash. In addition, the "depress brake pedal" indicator light will be illuminated, alerting the driver to apply the brakes. To see if your specific vehicle is affected 1-800-822-8987 or NHTSA. Gov please let me know if there is anything that can be done. Kerry armstrong kerry@sandevi. Co.

On 2 separate occasions, I lost transmission service to my 2016 vw Eos. 65k miles. While driving, my rpm increased dramatically, and it felt like the car went into neutral and wouldn't accelerate. I came to a slow, uncontrolled stop on the side of the road. The epc code, check engine light and the gear indicator warning lights were flashing. It was very scary to not have any control of the car. Very unsafe situation. The code reader indicated code u0103 meaning "lost communication with gear shift module". Lp and sons deland FL, repaired the vehicle, citing: remove and replace transmission gear shift.

Have owned the vehicle 2017 Eos. . Like religion . . I have the vehicle servied regularly oil changes and basic maintenance as prescribed by my mechanic 97,517 and the motor goes out . . . In a busy intersection no power lights "all come on'' looks like a christmas tree on my dash. . . Tow to my mechanic . . Catastrophic engine failure. . He tells me. . . How can this be. . . His responce is. . . Engines just sometimes fail never a vw again. . . I own several vehiclies . . . . Vws will not be on the list ever again. .
The abrupt shift to neutral could lead to a crash without warning.
Abs and brake lights are on, car shifts into neutral on it's own. Feels unsafe to drive, because of the neutral shift there is no power. I have had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Eos. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the vehicle emitted a loud sound and shifted into neutral independently. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, and the rpm increased however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact shifted from low gear back to drive several times and the vehicle responded and operated as designed. The contact drove safely back to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v333000 (power train). The approximate failure mileage was 10,209.
My car doesn't always go in reverse. The rem panel signal goes from 0-5 in minutes but feels like it's stalled. The engine light is always on. I read that there has been a recall because of a gear malfunction. And an extended warranty for cars up to 10years old or 100,000 miles. I fit into this category. This happens when I start the car and stop at a stop sign. I've taken my car to vw dealerships and private dealers and they can't seem to figure it out.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. While driving 20 mph, the transmission jerked and the rpms increased without warning. The vehicle also accelerated intermittently, which presented the potential risk of a crash. The vehicle was exlcuded from NHTSA campaign number: 09v333000 (power train). The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action number: pe09035 (power train), but the failure was similar. Volkswagen van nuys (6115 van nuys blvd, van nuys, CA 91401, (818) 785-7571) was notified and was currently servicing the transmission assembly. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and suggested the dealer replace the same oem transmission assembly. The approximate failure mileage was 51,700.
Vehicle stalls when attempting to take off vehicle nearly dies when coming to a stop. Was told by dealer the transmission needs replaced. From what I have read the early version of this transmission has been highly problematic. I have contacted Volkswagen America and they informed me that there was no kind of recall for this car related to the transmission. I have however read of many other customers that have had problems with this transmission. From what I have read Volkswagen has given a goodwill extended warranty on these transmissions, however they say ours is not part of this even though our car was built in early November 2009. Our car is a 2010 and has most all the symptoms the 2008 and 2009 have/had that I have read about. In my personal opinion and being a mechanic working for a nationally known tractor dealer myself I feel more should be done by Volkswagen, even if they are pressured to do so. I feel our car specifically is a bit dangerous and I fear it will only become worse with time.
Without notice the transmission down shifts and the car comes to a quick speed reduction and you pull off the road and it will not go in revers. It will move then at a very slow speed. On busy street or highway in traffic hard to keep from being run over.
Car was in morning traffic and failed due to timing belt failure at 85000 miles. Car was maintained by dealership at recommended intervals. The manuals and dealer recommended belt replacement at 110000 miles. Fortunately my wife was not injured or killed in what could have led to a serious accident. After looking at the internet and talking to mechanics, this appears to be a major safety flaw that should lead to a recall of these motors by the NHTSA and correction by Volkswagen and payment for motor replacement.

The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Eos. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle loss motive power with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that white smoke started coming from the vehicle. The contact steered the vehicle to the side of the road. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where the water pump was replaced. She also stated that the abs warning light had illuminated on the instrument panel which resulted in the engine not starting. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired for the abs failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. The VIN was not available.
My 2010 vw Eos continuously slips into neutral. Very dangerous trying to cross an intersection or merge into moving traffic. I'm scared to drive it.
Even though the car is in drive it will go down I feel backwards this is going to cause accidents. The electric windows go up and down continuously yes, this is a known issue but they refused to fix this the distraction is going to cause people accidents. This makes texting while driving seem like a safe way to behave.
After driving my car of and on for about two hours, I was leaving from a friend's driveway and realized my car would not go into reverse. I had to put the car in neutral and push the car out of the driveway. This way very humitating. After speaking to a Volkswagen dealership, they advised me that this has been an ongoing issue for sometime. Well I'm sorry Volkswagen I don't have money to waste, especially when they know that this has been a serious problem. I have children that I have to transport back and forth and at this point I dont feel that my Volkswagen is a reliable car. Please tell me there is a recall in place for this problem.
While driving on hwy at approx. 50 mph, automatic transmission shifted by itself to neutral. Unable to shift back to drive, pulled over and using breaks was able to stop vehicle on emergency lane. Was able then to change gear to park. Turn off car and start again. Called mechanic who had previously heard of neutral switch vw issues. This Eos only has 26,000 miles and is 4 yrs old since purchased new. Thus still covered by powertrain warranty until April 2019. Dealership diagnosis calls for a $1525 shift lever with multi-switch (includes neutral switch) replacement reportedly not covered by any warranty of this vehicle, including the powertrain warranty that Eos has for 5yrs / 60,000 miles. A safety hazard in the making prone to hwy accidents and possible loss of life and multi vehicle risk and failure to recognize and apply warranty offered at purchase time on new vehicle.

While driving at 50 miles per hour, vehicle shifted itself to neutral. . . Slowly changed lanes to emergency lane and came to a hault. Placed car on park tested reverse and it worked. . . Place on drive and car drove on. . . A vw mechanic tels me it could be a transmision multiswitch problem; do you have history or record of such scary problem with Eos???.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Eos. The contact stated that while the vehicle in reverse or drive, it would failed to go forward and go into neutral. The contact powered off the engine and restart it and was able to drive normal. The contact also stated that the engine warning light remained illuminated. The brake warning light intermittently illuminated. The contact also stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerated. The vehicle was taken to Audi buffalo dealer, (5255 gnesee st, bowmansville, NY 14026, (888) 420-1357) and was diagnosed that the gear box needed to be replaced and something to do with the transmission. The vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic and was also diagnosed that the gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,661. Aw.
Driving on the highway at 50+ and the transmission quit( like we were in neutral ). Had to maneuver across traffic to the shoulder. Restarted and vehicle drove fine til next day and it happened again. Code was checked and it said no communication with transmission module I'm the second owner and the vehicle has less than 78,000 miles.

Gearbox failure! direct failure to gearbox causes car to malfunction while in motion. Vehicle will stop abruptly (travelling on the interstate!) and refuse to go back into any gear, including but not limited to, reverse and drive. Repeatitive problem and isn't isolated to one specific event (but many occasions).
I was driving my car on a local city street and halfway through a turn all of a sudden it went into neutral on it's own, all the gears on the dash started flashing (the park, reverse, and drive) they started flashing on and off as my transmission went haywire. I had to pull over and avoid being hit as I had no control over my speed, I could not accelerate. The engine was racing and there was no forward motion at all. My car has a dsg (direct shift gearbox).
This affects tiguans, jettas, Eos, and other vws with 2. 0tsi engines manufactured pre 2013. The timing chain tensioners have a design flaw and are prone to failure at unacceptably low mileages. These were replaced with a new design to correct this flaw beginning in some 2012 models. However, vw has never formally recalled these or acknowledged the design flaw. If/when it fails, it can ruin the engine often causing over $5k in damages. The workshop confirmed I had the old style and replaced mine at the cost of $873. 68. This is a widely spread, widely documented problem that vw is only treating when it causes engine failures. While this is a widespread problem most owners are in the dark about it, 'taking it on the chin' and shelling out money presuming it's just a normal error and not knowing it's a design flaw in the car. For a car with only 85k miles, I just paid over $2k to have the transmission redone immediately following 1,800 in repairs for broken sensors. While I understand certain items will brake or require repair on any car, the tensioner design flaw with their unwillingness to acknowledge it is unacceptably egregious.
Driving the car in traffic, the dsg transmission fluid is too hot. I got a whiff of burning transmission fluid accompanied by hot air. Oil low pressure warning light is illuminated and the car needs to be pull over. Vw dealership check the car and said the transmission is ok, but the dual-cluch is the problem. Checking in the internet I found vw extended the warrantie in some 2007-2009 models. Vw said my car is not under the extended warranty no matter is experienced the same issues. My car is less than 10 years and 100,000 miles but not under 65,000 miles some web sites mention the warranty was extended to some 2010 cars. What can I do.
Attempted to back into a parking space but would not go into reverse. Have been advised a code p2711 appears. Research indicates ongoing issue with this and other vw models. My 2010 is not covered b/c of a four month production date not included in the recall.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. While driving various speeds, the gear selector moved from the drive position into neutral independently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v330000 (power train). The contact stated that the failure recurred twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 128,251.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. While parking, the gear was shifted from park to reverse and the transmission abruptly went into neutral. In addition, the selector lever position indicator light flashed and the depressed brake indicator light flashed. The failure recurred. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 09v333000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
The car initially experienced hard shifting since the first week we purchased it. The dealer found no faults. The car eventually had a loss of power while driving due to a faulty mechatronics unit. During the failure mode, the car engine lost all power which resulted in a loss of speed and inability to accelerate. The failures happened while driving. Previous vw Eos model years had a recall for this unit.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Eos. While driving 40 mph, the automatic transmission and clutch needed to be replaced because it switched out of gear. In addition, the vehicle occasionally had issues reversing and accelerating. The vehicle was diagnosed, but not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 69,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Eos. While driving the vehicle, it independently shifted into nuetral. The anti skid control warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to be operated by restarting the vehicle numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle had a master computer error and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. In addtion, the vehicle also experienced a complete loss of power. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was a transmission malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Eos. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle jerked as the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cylinder one fuel injector was stuck open and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000. Sg.
The transmission abruptly goes into neutral wile in freeway. According to a recall from the NHTSA, my car has exactly the same problem, a lose wire in the transmission. The dealer says the recall is no longer active, and would not fix it. ?????. The car will do this in bumpy roads.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. After the vehicle was shifted into the reverse position, the vehicle failed to move. The gear selector box and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. On another occasion, while driving at a slow speed, the vehicle lost power and the gear shift box illuminated. The contact mentioned that the failures recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic where the technicians stated that the gear shift box, dual clutch, and transmission possibly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v333000 (power train). The failure mileage was 79,000.
At times, the vehicle will not go into reverse. The gear display blinks and the vehicle must be shut off before being able to eventually go in reverse. I brought the vehicle into a Volkswagen service center and was informed of the extended warranty regarding the dsg. However, Volkswagen has informed me that since I did not have the dsg serviced at 40,000 miles, it would not honor the extended warranty. I was never informed or the recall and the required work was never performed on the vehicle despite the fact that I purchased it in October 2012.
2010 vw Eos. Dsg transmission. <43,000 miles. Issue: intermittent - loss of motive power attempting to move from stationary position to reverse/drive and/or delayed power engagement (jerking). Loss of power when shifting into reverse from stationary position on common drive (slight incline) causes the car to roll forward presenting risk of collision (oncoming vehicle from opposing garage, pedestrian, infrastructure). Delayed engagement jerk in same situation presents risk of collision (passing vehicle (waiting for me to move, decides to pass, clutch engages and jerks car backwards), pedestrian, infrastructure). Parallel parking on major city street lost power in reverse and drive causing traffic backup and other vehicles to veer into oncoming traffic lane. Unpredictable delayed drive engagement when pulling into traffic on major city street. Dealer informed dsg clutch pack requires replacement. Located TSB dated 2/6/14 (tb-30-14-01/vw 2028783). Car in for complete servicing 8/7/14. Interactive inspection performed. No indication of potential issue or need for any related maintenance. View as a consumer - negligent conduct given the potential ramifications of dsg failure. Fault should require more than a TSB as loss of vehicle control poses meaningful risk of injury.
