First incident (many more to follow) occurred while driving downhill on highway. The entire dash panel appeared to have gone haywire and then car just turned off. Coasted off of the road and was towed down the hill. Charged the battery and it started just fine, for about 20 miles, then the same thing occurred and car turned off. Had car towed to dealership, after diagnosis, had fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and gasket replaced. During their test drive, car stalled out again. Had to also replace alternator, freewheel pulley and battery. Picked up car, before I even got home engine lamp came on again, took back to dealership in a closer location to me. Now the problem was turbo underboost and evap system leaks, reccommended replacement of turbo purge valve, evap purge valve and evap vent hose. Volkswagen is aware of and has had many complaints for these same problems, yet they have done nothing about it, and can only apologize to their customers that they are having a problem with "their" particular vehicle. I am concerned that my vehicle will not even pass smog next year at this rate, given I could not find any smog records at all for this vehicle. . . Is it possible to fake a smog check to dmv and re-sell a lemon?? I was definitely duped!.

The car lurches forward and bucks on full stop and take off. I have contacted a vw dealer and gave me a possible fix for 1800. 92 but this may not fix the problem. It may also need a new clutch. This is a known problem that vw is aware of but will not recall and repair. This complaint is to document the problem once again and suggest that vw be made to fix this before someone is killed if they haven't already been.

While driving at approx. 30 mph <1 mile from home the transmission suddenly downshifted into first gear, and my wife was thrown into the steering wheel as the seatbelt did not catch. The car was driven home at 10 mph and parked. I drove it around the block approx. 30 minutes later and experienced the same thing from 25 mph on a neighborhood street. Again, the seatbelt did not restrain me when the car suddenly downshifted. In both cases, the check engine light illuminated, and the transmission malfunction indicator came on. Had this occurred at highway speed the results could have been catastrophic! the sudden downshift would no doubt have caused the car to become extremely difficult to control and any vehicles nearby could easily have created a multi-vehicle accident.

I was driving home from baltimore on the freeway going about 70mph and the vehicle started losing speed and nothing I did would get it to go again. I had to pull over put the car in park, shut the car off and then I was able to go again. This happened about 6 more times driving home to pittsburgh. I went to the dealer and they "fixed it". It worked for a short period of time. Then it happened again and they couldn't find anything wrong with it so they put seafoam in my car. It happened several more times and they had my car for months. They think the seafoam hid the problem for almost a year. They replaced fuel injectors and that helped for about 400 miles. Then they replaced the part that is the equivalent of a caarburetor. This fixed it for about 5 months this time. I just made a trip to chicago and thank god this did not happen there as I would have been killed. Now I am at 85,000 and it just happened on August 6, 2015. Once again vw corporate is not being of much assistance. I was told by vw coporate in February 2015 to dump the car and they would give me $1,000 off a new vw. This is unacceptable. This car is not safe and I am not getting anywhere with either the dealer or vw corporate. I have read other blogs and I know that I am not the only Eos owner having this problem. Will this take gm or Dodge deaths to get someone's attention? I really hope I am not the person killed.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph the transmission abruptly shifted into neutral with a reduction in the engine power. The vehicle began to lunge forward. The entire instrument panel warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and towed to an authorized dealer. The technician stated that the direct shift gear box was faulty and required the replacement of the transmission. There was a recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 09v333000 (power train). The VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the engine rpms increased and the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer fifteen times for diagnosis. The technicians replaced a fuse in the power supply relay but was unable to diagnose further failures. The failure continued after the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 38,514.
Here is my story. . . Transmission will go into neutral state while driving. Finally failed on 2/2013. Mechatron unit replaced. Problem continued. They blamed third party rear view camera which I deactivated. Vehicle was taken back in on March 12, 2103 at which time they replaced the shifter mechanism. Told me every thing ok. I kept having intermittent issues. After car going into neutral state in middle of traffic I took care back in, August 27, 2013. They told me they found no faults and car was running according to factory specifications and they could not do anything. At which time I started carrying a video camera in the car. It failed a few times but I was not able to record be cause by the time I got camera ready car went back to normal operation. On 1/27/14 it failed long enough for me to record the event (I have a recording). I was in the middle of traffic and transmission went into a neutral state. I took it to deal who ran diagnostics and found no faults. After watching video service manager called vw who told them to run a software update. I asked to meet with factory representative and they could not give me a date as to when he is available. On 1/31/14 I opened case # 14008852 with vw advocacy group 800-822-8987. They have been pretty useless. As I explained that I feel unsafe driving vehicle they said it was repaired, but cannot guarantee safety. They also said they did not know when the factory rep, bill manson will be available to meet with me. I asked for a loaner until such time and they could not provide a loaner. They told me I have to pick up vehicle and return the loaner that I currently have. I plan to do this tomorrow but honestly I will probably get rid of the vehicle ASAP. Any advise or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

The car unexpectedly jumps gears when slowing down and or speeding up. The problem is especially bad while going in reverse. After a bit of research, it looks like this is an issue with the dsg component of the transmission that many people have experienced in this model/make of the Eos. This unexpected jumping and jerking has the potential to cause an accident on the road.
Vehicle lurched during start of acceleration. Also sounded and felt like it was searching for a gear and couldn't find it. Slamming of gears felt and heard - intermittently. Took to local dealership and it was immediately taken in and the clutch plates were replaced. Previous work recorded was the replacement of the mechtronic unit. So far after 100 miles the issue appears better but not totally relieved. Still slight hesitation between gears. No slamming. Also previously parking on a hill was an issue. No roll stop without brakes or braking. Now after repair the vehicle will stop rollback after 1 ft.
Vehicle has no power from stopped position when on a hill. Vehicle eventually has power after 5-6 seconds. Brakes must be applied and then car surges forward. Vehicles response on level ground varies from non-responsive to irregular to full power. Dealer provided 3 page document entitled "momentary delay with dsg gearbox" outlining steps to take but will not take any corrective action with the vehicle.
