Failure Date: 08/21/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Volkswagen gti s 4d auto. While driving 45 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal fuel odor coming from the fuel tank without warning. The contact managed to drive the vehicle and noticed fuel leaking from the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed by the contact's insurance company to flagship Volkswagen carretera (#2 14. 7, bayamn, 00922, puerto rico, 787-302-2718) where it was diagnosed that the evap system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 31,546.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 02/10/2019

Evap canister failed with less than 40,000 miles on the car. I first noticed when I was pumping gas one day, I opened my tank and heard a loud woosh noise like pressure had been building up inside the gas tank. I then went to fill up my tank and got maybe $3 worth of gas in the tank before the pump shut itself off like the tank was full though it wasnt. Was told it's not covered under warranty by Volkswagen, and even though the 15-16 gti had recalls for the same issue the problem was supposed to be fixed for the 17 gti. I either have a lemon or the problem has carried over for a 3rd straight year.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 01/22/2013

I was driving on i15 southbound, the engine malfunction symbol appeared on my dash board and all of a sudden the car lost power and stalled. After paying over $800. 00 in towing fees to the nearest vw dealer in ontario California. The dealer is asking if gasoline was put in the tank. They are saying that metal shards were found and gasoline is the only cause of that malfuction. I am the only driver of the car and I have never put gasoline. I alway fill up at the same gastation due to the fact that not all gas station have diesel.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 01/02/2013

We filled up the tank with diesel at gas station on the road and the car started stalling 3 days later. It would only start after an hour of "rest". After 3 of these incidents, we took it to the dealer to find out that the car had gasoline mixed with diesel, or "contaminated fuel". They flushed the car and changed the filters at a cost of $1275, but warn that it may require a full overhaul! (cost estimated at $8k). So I asked, how I am suppose to know what's good diesel or not? is there a test? some way of knowing? the dealer had no suggestions nor guidance on this regard. Now we find on the web forums, that this is not an isolated case and that there are many cases (in fact the dealer mentioned a few were in the shop for the same issue) escalating this issue from the random misuse of gas or contaminated gas. Net, there's an issue when you have a car you can't rely on because of the diesel supplies. I am very disappointed and concerned that this new car will stall again and leave us stranded.
