3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2015

I was driving down the street when a loud beeping and the red abs failure + every light on dashboard lit up. Every gauge stopped working (the gas gauge, speedometer, etc) I was close to home and carefully proceeded to the house. After a half mile the car stalled and the engine died. Because I was prepared for an event, I immediately set hazards and rolled to the side of the road. I restarted the car and made it the rest of the way home (2 blocks) without it stalling again. I have not driven the car since, I took it the vw dealer and it was determined the abs module failed / broke and caused the problems. This is obviously a manufacturing the defect which can cause an immediate harmful affect. If I was on a highway or being careful far beyond any normal sense I could have easily been in a life threatening accident.

If it had been on the freeway I am sure I would not be typing this we would be in hospital or worse. We had to get out and the sterring was not wroking to get it to side of road. I am elderly and do not have alot of strength. We had to pay extra to aaa to tow it since we were far away from dealer. The dealer called and said there was metal shavings in fuel line and componnents. I reserched online and have seen several of the same things happening to other cars. This is a real safety issue. . 7 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2012

While driving the dash warning lights illuminated and the car stalled causing complete loss of all power steering almost causing me to lose control and wreck. I was able to steer car to side of road and stop. Once stopped was able to get car to restart but was barely able to drive home (periodically died and had to restart, wouldn't stay running or idle). Had car towed to repair shop. They have diagnosed problem as low rail fuel pressure caused by failed high pressure fuel pump. This failure caused metal shavings to be dispersed throughout entire fuel system. I'm told that the hp fuel pump, low and high pressure fuel regulators, and tank fuel pump all must be replaced along with a complete removal and cleaning of all fuel system components. Estimated cost to repair is between $7,000 and $10,000. This car is a diesel tdi.

8 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Vehicle began stalling at stops at about 55000 miles. Vehicle at complete stop, take foot of brake and it either (1) rolls then moves forward, (2) lurches/shutters and moves forward or (3) stalls before putting foot on gas. The stalling has become more frequent in the last month and on may 31 2013, the vehicle stalled multiple times and on one occasion did not restart after approximately half dozen attempts but finally managed to restart. The vehicle is going in for service to hopefully identify and fix this issue on June 3 2013. The lurching forward can be drastic and the potential for "jumping" forward into another car and cuasing an accident is now a real concern.

17 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2011

When starting to move the car such as at a stop sign or at an intersection, when putting the accelerator pedal down to start the vehicle moving, the whole car almost stalls as engine power disappears for a terrifying few seconds. This is very dangerous because you pull out into traffic and expect the car will move forward and not stall. I went onto a vw forum and learned that this is a common problem for vw.

Car stalled while accelerator was pressed. Stall lasted about 3 seconds. Stalling occurs about once a month.

19 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2010

I recently purchased a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta tdi diesel car with a 6 speed manual transmission and 20,000 miles. I have notice that the car is extremely easy to stall when attempting to accelerate in first and second gears. It seems the injection timing may be too far advanced. I have driven lots of similar older model diesel cars in europe and elsewhere without any such problems. I do not know what to do to correct the problem. I have noticed that you must speed up significantly in first gear before shifting to second. The engine seems to be unable to lug at a low rpms.

20 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2010

2009 vw tdi Jetta. Engine runs rough, sutters at certain points and lacks power. Will sometimes stall in traffic. Have documented with dealers. Vw America refuses to answer. Vw has software fix, but will not apply it to vehicle. Do people have to be killed before these people pay attention.
