1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2016

I am unable to carry rear passengers (adults or kids) as the rear door do not operate consistently. I consider this a major safety concern. Dealer wants a large amount of money to replace two rear wiring harness as well as the electronic door actuators. This seems to be improper lack in the wiring harness to the rear doors. I have never had so many electrical problems with a vehicle is short a period of time. This really needs to be address so that nobody is injured form a door that will not open from the outside or inside, inconstantly. I will hold both NHTSA as well as vw if a tragic event does unfortunately does occur. This item has been posted numerous time in ve formus. My Jetta tdi has 156k miles, and it makes no difference to weather or time of day. This is a persistent problem that does not ever go away. Please investigate this major safety consern.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2016

Rear electric doors will unlock consistently. Dealer ran diagnostic which points to a faulty wiring harness. This seems like a production issues and needs to be corrected. End result rear doors can not be opened unless you use the inside door lever. First responders or good samaritans will not be able to pull people from the rear passenger area. This happens intermittently vw forums cite similar problems.

3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2015

Drove the car in the afternoon and parked it at an office building. Got back into my car about an hour later and when the car turned on, the radio was completely black. Nothing worked and would not turn back on. Checked fuses and they seemed to be fine. Took it into the dealer and after several hours of looking at it, they said there was something wrong with the radio wiring and there was no way to fix it with a new part and the only parts available were refurbished parts for at least the sale of $600+! this is a ridiculous amount of money for just a radio I think when there are parts cheaper after market. I only had the car for almost 5 years, it shouldn't have these problems so soon!.

4 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

A key feature of this vehicle is the capability for hands free use of on-board communications systems which is mandatory in several states for increased safety while driving. This capability is controlled through the factory installed radio system and blue tooth technology. When the oem radio fails the hands free safe communications system fails. This can result in a major safety concern. The radio installed in this vehicle failed with a pronounced pop indicating an electrical fault and will not operate. The radio is wired through other connections in the wiring harness to the vehicle information system above the steering wheel which includes operation data including miles per hour among others. Since this is an apparent electrical defect and is tied to other vehicle operation system information it becomes a major safety concern. Other owners have reported that their vehicles of this make and model have experienced related problems including failure to start and engine turning off intermittently. Volkswagen does not consider this fault a safety concern. These vehicles should be recalled to correct this deficiency at no charge tot he customer.

5 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2012

The seal between the connectors and the drain hose for the sunroof drains leak (three of four connectors), allowing water to run down the both driver and passenger side a-pillars. This resulted in the airbag and its associated mounts/wiring and harness getting soaked. The water continued down the a pillars to collect in the front wheel wells. The path of the water was over/through the drivers side interior junction/fuze block. The rear drains also leak, causing intermittent electrical malfunctions. Note that this leak is not due to the drains being blocked. Rather the seals between the white plastic that connects to the drain and the brown drain hose is not complete. This allows water to drip down onto the frame. As much as 2-3 gallons of water could enter during a mild rain storm.

6 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2012

Car has had issues 4k on. Car would accelerate on its own from 70 mph to 75 like wide open throttle. Car will quit at highway speeds 70 mph (no power steering, no brakes, just the service engine now and glowplug light are on flashing,(50k on) this has happened 4 times, car will quit making a right hand turn hitting pothole (50k on). Total dpf system has been changed out two times from two dealers , 3 total with original. Erratic egr signal was always tripping check engine light, some faults but not all are exhaust gas recirc flow insufficient detected sporadic, cylinder 2 injector n31 open circuit sporadic, exhaust aftertreatment fuel supply control performance sporadic, throttle actuator control motor circuit range/performance sporadic, navigation antenna (gps) short to earth. Dealers have spent over 20 thousand dollars parts and labor, in 4 different shops over 83 days (overnight), over 95 including reading codes only. Out of warranty expenditures over 1 thousand dollars so far. 69,000 miles and the dealer tech has no idea how to fix this car, he started out saying he has never seen a car he can't fix. I have over 50 pages of dealer documented faults and repairs, reprogramming ecu, was replaced this year to see if that would fix problems, some gone but now major issues listed above are happening. Replaced diesel particulate filter 2 times, replaced O2 sensors, replaced egr sensors and gaskets 2 times, replace throttle position sensor, replaced pressure sensor. Only item not replaced is the wiring harness.
