36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2019

Every sense I bought my Jetta over the last few months it stalls out when slowing down to a stop and when starting from a stop. The rpms will go up but then drop immediately. It's happened quite a few times. I've called my local Volkswagen dealer and they said they have not heard of any other issues like this. It stalled out twice on my when driving home the other night it has almost caused me to be rear ended a few different times to the point I'm scared to drive with my nephews in the car. When I'm slowing down I push in the clutch and the rpms with shoot up and then stall out it doesn't matter if I give it more throttle or not. The same thing happens when I'm starting from a start at low speed. It happens mostly on city street. Has happened once on the highway when I was slowing down for bumper to bumper traffic.

37 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

2019 vw Jetta gti autobahn manual transmission stalls or loses engine power randomly. For me, it has happened several times in 5th or 6th gear when taking my foot off of the gas and coasting, the car will choke and feels as though fuel is cutoff and the engine cannot generate power. This is temporary, and shifting again and giving a little gas eventually things go back to normal. However, I'm concerned something is malfunctioning and more importantly at highway speeds this could be dangerous as it's sudden and expected.

38 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2019

Vibration and grinding noises at low speeds. Started around 200-300 miles on the odometer. Originally only occurred in eco mode now happens all the time. It has gotten progressively louder and more severe over the last 4-5 months I've owned the vehicle. Took it to the dealer twice and they told me it's normal but it sounds and feels terrible. The car feels very unsafe. Sometimes it accelerates very slowly and other times I barely press the pedal and it takes off and the tires spin. When driving in eco mode the internal computer seems to forget and switches back into regular drive mode but the eco mode button will stay illuminated even though the dash display says it is in drive. At higher speeds the grinding becomes more of a low growl or scrape and also vibrates much more especially when turning or accelerating. When I first start the car to leave home or leave work my brakes screech the first 3-4 times I apply them. It's so loud that my neighbors have complained multiple times. No matter what kind of driving I do or where it is the vehicle feels unsafe and makes loud grinding noises when accelerating or cruising.

39 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

The car is making a growling sound when going low rate speeds. Took it to the dealership and they can't find anything wrong. Apparently this is an issue with the car reading all the complaints.

40 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

2019 Jetta gli with less than 500 miles equipped with the dsg (automatic) transmission - engine stalls out as soon as the speed of the vehicle reaches 0mph - whether on the highway (bumper to bumper traffic), stopped at red lights, stopped at stop signs, or changing gear to reverse in parking lot or street to get in driveway. The stalling happens regardless of the "auto stop start" feature being disabled or enabled, and happens approximately once every three or more complete stops but usually not for the first 3 when the car is first turned on. The car also makes an audible grinding sound when engine stalls. In all instances once the car has stalled it requires a manual restart by putting the vehicle back in park, and pressing the vehicle start button with brake depressed. In addition to the above stalling, the car has once turned off when started remotely and no passengers inside. I have approached the vehicle approximately 30 seconds after remote start was engaged, opened the truck, loaded a few items, and car turned off. A check engine light came on. Using a vag505 scanner I was able to find 01-engine fault code 15080 and 08-auto hvac fault code 1048838. Videos of the aforementioned issues have been uploaded to youtube and can be made available via request.

41 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2019

Car will stall out when coming to a stop while in manual mode of dsg transmission, with start/stop deactivated. Driver is placed in a dangerous situation, must put the car in park to restart vehicle.

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2019

I just had my car for 2 weeks, this can't happen to me, not again. . . The transmission jumps when slowing down. I can feel a small jump when driving. It's like a small resistance and then it just lets go and jumps. It only has 15k miles and I can't afford to buy or repair a brand new car!, this shouldn't happen on a brand new car!.

43 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2019

When coming to a stop the vehicle would stall without warning with the transmission in neutral and the clutch all the way out. Seems to occur when the vehicle is driving for a while and gets hot. Vehicle is at 2460 miles and did it off and on since 32 miles.

44 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2019

I love, love, love vw and my new (2019) vw Jetta 1. 4t sel. I purchased it in 2018 and it's currently got just over 13k miles on it. My dad drove it the other day and asked me what the "growling" noise was coming when he accelerated under low power/ light load (sweet spot happening about 28-33 mph). I noticed it when I first purchased the car, but figured it was normal. When I looked online, I see that a lot of other people have complaints about this too. I'm wondering if there is really a problem that might get worse as time goes on. It occurs every time acceleration happens. I really do love this car!.

45 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

Brand new 2019 Jetta sel makes a grinding noise along the power train (underneath the car). It does not sound safe nor can it be good long term. It sounds like metal is grinding on metal when accelerating. It is particularly loud when in eco mode.

46 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

Takata recall: 2019 vw Jetta gli stalls and turns off while in neutral while stationary, as well as in gear and in motion. This happened on city streets and in parking lots, putting myself and my family in danger. Unsure of issue, but documented with video footage. No engine lights appeared. This happened 20 or more times yesterday, and one time 2 weeks ago.

47 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2019

Vehicle stalls out after starting or when coming to a stop when the rpms come down.

48 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2019

I'm having an issue, the car has competently died about 6 times. I'm in traffic or come to a stop and the car shuts off, then when I let off on the brake it's completely dead. It says something like please start car manually. Once I pulled in the driveway and the car surged up and down, puttering like it was running out of gas.

49 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2019

I just bought a brand new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta se one week ago from ourisman Volkswagen of laurel in laurel, maryland. I have noticed a grinding/scratching noise coming from the car when driving at certain speeds, regardless of how easy or hard I go on the accelerator. This happens on freeways and small roads. I started noticing these issues even when the car had under 100 miles on it, and I still only have around 500 miles on it right now. I will be taking the car to the dealership at the end of my work week when I have time. However, from what I've read, vw is refusing many people with the same issue help and doesn't even acknowledge that it is a problem to them, claiming that the noise is "normal. " however, there are documents that prove Volkswagen is aware of this issue and show them acknowledging that it isn't normal. It is very unacceptable that they are selling brand new cars to consumers with these vital issues that they are refusing to address. This is fraudulent activity and has to be investigated for the safety of drivers. I am still baffled that there have been endless complaints about this yet the NHTSA hasn't done anything yet.

50 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2019

The same day I drove the vehicle off the dealer's lot, it shut-off on me three times; once on the new jersey turnpike and twice at a stop light. The first time at the stop light, I was waiting for the light to turn green. The second was coming to a stop. Further, I was unaware the vehicle had shut-off until I took my foot of the brake and placed it on the accelerator. It shut-off a fourth time the following weekend while in the middle of a four way intersection. Each time, the info center in the dashboard stated, "place the gear shift in park and manually start the vehicle. ".

51 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

When driving at low speeds, especially from a stop, there is a slight grinding noise that sounds like it comes from the drivetrain. It only happens between anywhere from 25-40 mph and it doesn't matter how hard or easy acceleration is happening. I tried taking it out of eco mode to see if that was it, but it was not. I've taken my car to the dealership twice explaining the issue. The first time I was told that it was normal, but not really told what it was that was considered normal. The second time I had a technician ride with me and he told me that it was the abs system kicking on. I've noticed driving it more now that it definitely sounds like it's coming from the power train. The car is a little over a month old and was purchased brand new.

52 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2019

Engine stalls occasionally, I have the dsg automatic transmission and sometimes when I am at a complete stop, the engine turns off and a request displays on the screen asking me to manual restart the engine. This has happened to me 5 tomes already since I've purchased the vehicle last a few days ago. The vehicle has about 400 miles on it, I've purchased it new. I'm concerned that the engine might stall on the highway and I'm concerned about my safety with the vehicle.

53 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2019

Nhtsa: this car has wide scale defective transmission problems and I've almost been in a wreck over it. It's unacceptable that so many people have complained about this and there have been no investigations. I tried opening an investigation on this and got back a weird and disappointing response from this department. As a tax payer, I think it's your responsibility to hold vw accountable for fraud and make them fix this mess before someone get seriously injured! we purchased this car from steve white vw in greenville, SC and they are committing fraud with vw to hide this from consumers by saying scraping transmissions on brand new cars are normal. The document from October 26th on manufacturer communications is proof they are playing games and this needs to be taken seriously! there's already a class action filed for this exact problem nation wide.

54 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2019

2019 r line Jetta was originally making a grinding sound at 1500 rpm. Now I just got a check oil level notification on my dash. This car has less than 7,000 miles.

55 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2019

The problem is with my 2019 manual transmission gli. Even when the clutch is engaged, (foot on the clutch) and the car is coming to a halt, the car stops/stalls. This issue occurs randomly, but once it starts, it keeps happening, until randomly the issue stops showing up. Because of the apparent randomness of when the issue shows up, I have not been able to convince the service folks.

56 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2019

"hill hold assist" does not disengage quickly in manual transmission vehicles when stopped facing up an incline causing the driver to either stall the vehicle potentially in dangerous situations or burn the clutch while attempting to get the vehicle moving causing premature clutch wear. Often tires spin once the brake is released causing premature tire wear. This could easily be solved with software upgrades allowing the driver to disable this feature and/or refining the release to be more instantaneous.

57 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

When vehicle is at a stop and then goes to accelerate, between 25 and 30mph there is a low growl from the engine area and a lag in acceleration and a drop in power, which has proved dangerous when trying to avoid a collision when someone ran a stop sign and I had to try and hurry through to avoid being hit. Sometimes if foot is not on accelerator letting the vehicle coast and then reapplied with vehicle going a decent speed there is also a jumping/jerking motion. Also, the blind spot censor illuminates when nothing is present.

58 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2019

All sensors including airbag and abs reported errors. Vw representative over the phone said it does not sound safe to drive. Dealership claimed no issues found with the vehicle. Rattling sound which is persistent after vw installed a software update for a known issue with the transmission shifting gears. While the engine running and changed from park to reverse, the car rolled forward and transmission would not respond to attempting to accelerate. Vehicle rolled into a pole which stopped it from moving forward while in reverse. All photo and video documented. Volkswagen claims this proof does not matter because there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. There is also a residue from manufacturing on the windshield which they have attempted multiple times to remove, and the issue is still persistent. They refuse to replace the windshield or admit the problem is from manufacturing. Multiple trips to have the vehicle serviced and continued to be told nothing is wrong and my documented proof does not matter.

59 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2019

While driving, there is a grinding sound from the transmission at the lower/mid rpms.

60 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2019

Brand new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta making grinding/rattling noise at around 30 mph. Was told by Volkswagen dealership staff/employee member that the sound is normal for all Volkswagen vehicles of the same model as well as others. It is apparent this is a common issue among other Volkswagen Jetta vehicles based on numerous accounts online, and needs to be dealt with by the manufacturer.

61 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2019

Vehicle was purchased 3 days ago and has 300 miles on it. There is a consistent metallic grinding sound between 20-40 mph. Not sure what's going on. Online research indicates that this is a common issue and vw is aware but claims it's normal. It certainly doesn't sound normal.

62 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2019

Grinding noise at 30 mph.

63 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2019

Brand new vehicle with 300 miles. From the day I picked it up with 37 miles, it grinds every time it acclerates into 3rd gear automatic trans. Dealership contacted, service mgr stated this is "normal" for this transmission. Also stated his hands are tied on what he can do because vw has called this "normal. " he also said he is limited in what he can do at the local level because "we didn't make the car. " this does not sound "normal" to me. I am concerned that my vehicle will incur long-term damage, which could lead to a significant public safety risk. It also represents a potential financial risk for myself and other unknowing buyers. The rep. Who sold me the car said he was unaware of this issue but the service rep. Was clearly aware. I am very concerned that the trail of disclosure was not extended beyond the service desk to sales and, in turn, to buyers like myself.

64 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2019

Turbocharger failure at 10,000 miles. Turbocharger found to be defective during my 1st service appointment for the vehicle.

65 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2018

66 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2018

Heavy abrupt grind when shifting into reverse. Sometimes refuses to even go into reverse without multiple attempts and forcing shifter. To avoid, driver must first shift to 1st gear, then shift to reverse without ever lifting off of the clutch diring that sequence. And when executing that sequence, sometimes the transmission doea not go into reverse completely causing gear grind when the driver releases the clutch.

67 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2018

Grinding noise at low rpm under light throtle loads and oil leak on transmsion underside. Please see this video of noise https://youtu. Be/pcv7o3sxzpu. On vwvortex. Com forum other Jetta mk7 drivers have pointed same issue.

68 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2018

Factory wipers result in streaking, replaced at less than 5k miles. Problem alleviated. Typical metallic grinding at low speeds, as described by other reports. Passenger led headlight ring excessively dim. Multiple sources report open recall for this, however, no sources including dealer agree my vehicle is included. Several people have pointed out my faulty headlight ring. Review of photos containing vehicle indicate headlight issue was not present at purchase. Can not confirm.

69 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2018

Well again my I had to take my 2019 Jetta back to lunde's in peoria, az. After the transmission leak was fixed in August, I noticed about a month later the car was jerking a lot and not accelerating when I had my foot on the gas pedal. ( like when you push on the gas, but discover your car is neutral and not drive. ) this became very dangerous and the delay time was getting longer and longer to the point where it was about half a minute before it would accelerate. Or would be accelerating fine then mid drive or when turning, it would just stop and coast and nothing would happen when you pushed your foot on the gas other then the car revving and not moving. I took my Jetta back into lunde's (again) and they had my car for a month. They replaced the o rings, as people have mentioned on here and I was told that now vw has remade all the o rings to work and fit properly in the transmission. I picked up my car at lunde's and immediately went to get gas. I was waiting in line with the car in park & still running. When I went to put the car in drive said restart engine! so the car shut off on me! I called lunde's back and was told if it happens again to call them. Well, it did, and I did not call them back because I opened up a case with vw of America to try to get a buyback or replacement vehicle. Now I have to wait to see if my auto loan company first investors will process the substitution of collateral request. This way I can keep everything the same on my loan (bc I upgraded and now have negative equity the buy back option is not financially a good option for me) so of course my auto loan company states "they do not do that anymore". So now I am going back and forth with them so I am not stuck in an unsafe car. Do not buy a 2019 Jetta until vw gets it figured out on all the faulty parts and do not get an auto loan with 1st investors. Why is this car not recalled yet?.

70 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2018

After purchasing my vehicle 2019 Jetta at the end of June, I had to have my transmission leak fixed and the transmission repaired for a large leak. It took over 2 wks to get the car back. Then for about a month now, the car has been running rough, not accelerating without a huge delay & jerking. It's like the car is in neutral when you try to step on the gas. The dealer said they have to send a rep out from Volkswagen to inspect my vehicle and they have no idea how long that will take so I will have the loaner vehicle indefinitely. I called Volkswagen customer care to open a case to see if I can get a buyback option because the dealer stated there is nothing more they can do at this point.
