1 Fuel Injection problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 04/10/2014

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while the driver drove at 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. The engine light illuminated while the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel injection pump ruptured. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 92,846.

2 Fuel Injection problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/27/2012

Without warning, the engine shut down while driving down a busy road. Check engine and glow plug warning light came on. Was just able to coast to the shoulder of the road. Car would turn over, but engine would not start. Car towed to dealer. Was told there was a catastrophic failure of the high pressure fuel pump, and metal shards were found throughout the fuel system. Vw replaced the entire fuel supply system (including fuel tank) and fuel injection system. I can provide list of parts, if needed.

Volkswagen 2000 Jetta uncommanded acceleration while driving. Car has no cruise control yet car accelerates on its own to the point the car has to be braked hard.

4 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 04/22/2005

I am the primary repair person for this vehicle. Over its history, there have been numerous component failures that in my opinion are unacceptable for a vehicle with this mileage and age. I personally know the owner, and know that it is not operated under unusually harsh conditions. The vehicle was involved in a minor cosmetic crash early on, otherwise, there have been no unusual outside factors. At this point, the car has only 37,000 miles on the odometer. Primary use is on long trips. The vehicle is parked and stored for about 3-6 months each year. First problem: air conditioning system leak: the expansion valve failed, requiring replacement. Check engine/ malfunction indicator light: has come on several times, each time with the same dtc, a manufacturer specific code related to the mass air flow sensor. The power windows have failed, ultimately resulting in free repair of the windows with a revised retaining clip, as this problem occurs far too often, and finally, the rear brake pads have worn completely with the front pads in virtually new condition. This is accompanied by all four rotors being excessively pitted, with large areas of the rotor face actually flaking off. My research shows that I may end up needing to replace the rear calipers, as well, due to poor design.

5 Fuel Injection problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/18/2002

The fuel injection system on my Jetta tdi went bad. The car had 35,000 miles on it which was 5,000 past warrenty. Volkswagen agreed to pay part of the repair, but the cost to me was still over $600. 00. The glow plugs and harness to the glow plugs have also been replaced after warrenty. I have never had so many expensive repairs on a "new" car before. Now the brake switch needs replaced because the brake lights would not come on. Replacement switch has part no. Vwn 1j0945511d.

7 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 11/19/2001

My car is nightmare of failures. Cruise control light (dealer claims the car doesnt have one - but you can see it if you use a flashlight at an oblique angle) failure, abs module switch failure (according to dealer) causing cruise control to unexpectedly disengage. I also learned from other motorists that the same switch controls brake light illumination (all bulbs and other signal lights work). Fuel injection module over injected gas causing excessive pressure. Relief valve failed to open causing turbo overpressure to +120psi. Failure caused hoses to blow sending hose clamps as projectiles. This week, the front passenger side window unexpectedly dropped into the door. Dealer has literally taped the window up until a part arrives. Dealer admits to mfg design defect - no voluntary recall. No dealers will voluntarily replace clips until they fail. Volkswagen position is that they know there is a design flaw, but wont replace known bad clips until there is a failure. Window failure could cause objects (stones kicked up by tires of other cars) to hit passengers. Infant / child safety risk. Window integrity questionable in an accident if it fails when driving 15mph. Help!.

8 Fuel Injection problem of the 1997 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 11/17/2001

Jetta was evaluated at vw repair shop and was tested for several days over the last 4 working days. Electrical and fuel sytem was checked and nothing found so far. Car engine stalls intermittently regardless of speed or temperature of engine. Have not driven it on the freeway due to safety concerns. Was driving on city streets and suddenly the engine cuts out while driving. Has nothing to do with slowing down or accelerating. Concerned that there may be other reported problems similar to this in this model but cannot find any information.

9 Fuel Injection problem of the 1998 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/02/2001

Engine lost power when outside temperature was high (greater than 95 degrees fahrenheit). On the first occurrence (July 30, 1999, in des plaines, IL) the car was towed to a vw dealer in mt. Prospect, IL, where they detected a faulty air-gas ratio and said.

10 Fuel Injection problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/13/2001

This is not an isolated problem. The relay 109 has been brought to vw's attention several times. They have issued a tech tip on their website to dealers. My dealer replaced the wrong part and charged me for it. Now I have to wait for them to test it before they refund my money. This happened to me several times on the highway, in traffic. When you are stalled in the middle lane on a road and you see cars coming you hope they see you and don't run through the back of you. This is a serious problem and vw is ignoring it. In regards to the fuel injection, they are going through these too. The tdi engine is getting clogged (they don't kow why) and cause the fuel injector to fail. My dealership has had mine for a week. Part is on back order. Vw is not responsive.

11 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

While driving engine light comes on due to emission failure. Dealership replaced the mass air flow sensor, but the problem recurred. Currently, air injection pump was being replaced.
