Failure Date: 08/24/2020

Was is merging onto interstate i95 and the Jetta wouldn’t accelerate no matter how hard I pushed the gas pedal eventually took my foot off and had to turn on emergency lights then the Jetta started slowly moving as if it was just going to stall almost got rear ended and then the car wanted to send me in to another lane. Due to the angry driver behind me.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/12/2020

While driving at 40 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle lost power with the check engine warning light illuminated. I placed the vehicle in park for 30 seconds and attempted to restart the vehicle, it turned on but would not go into gear. I then had it towed to the dealer (mission bay Volkswagen (address 2205 morena blvd, san diego, CA 92110) to be diagnosed. I was informed that there was a crack in the transmission which caused oil to leak into the electrical gearbox causing it to fail. I'm the second owner and it has 47,000 original miles on it.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/04/2020

I was driving on the street and my check engine light popped on as I was making a turn at about 35 miles an hour my car kicked into neutral and when pressing the gas just revved the engine. I was fortunate there was no oncoming cars as I made the turn or I would have been killed. Had this happened on the highway I could of caused a major reck killing multiple people. I was fortunate and pulled over to the side and had the car towed to a mechanic. He took a look and said there was a significant leak coming from the transmission and I should take it to a vw dealership because there are a lot of recalls for this type of stuff. I had it towed to vw and they're professional mechanic said it was a hairline crack in the transmission that caused an oil leak into the electronic gearbox which caused the loss of control and power. They said there is no recall and it would be a $12,000. 00 fix. The car has 47k original miles on it, no wrecks, and I've never missed an oil change. Had I not quickly reacted I could of caused a car accident injuring or killing myself or someone else. This is unbelievable that vw is not being held responsible for this. There is a recall for this exact problem recall number: 34j6 but for some reason it does no include my specific Jetta. How is that possible?.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/11/2020

My car can be turned off and does need to be in park. The electrical comes and goes but the most alarming is the Jetta accelerates on it's own and it takes a couple of minutes to get it under control. At one point I have no way of stopping the acceleration to stop. Also, I asked crestmont vw if it was normal to have car off and not in park. They acted like it was normal. The Jetta has rolled back and almost hit people. I have not received any recalls from the company. It happens all the time.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/09/2020

2 separate incidents involving the epc. One was about 10 day's ago, July 9th getting on the freeway in houston. Car threw up numerous error codes, it automatically slammed on the brakes upon entering the middle lane of the freeway, gave an epc error code, transmission error code, and start/stop error code. I got it to the nearest dealership, montroad Volkswagen off I-45. They claim they could find nothing wrong after sitting on it for 24 hours & sent me on my way. Fast forward to last night, now 10 day's later, July 19th, coming back home from dallas, a nearly 600 mile round trip & another epc code code comes up & says fault: electronic parking brake when I went to park the car & head inside. Now I've only had this car a month, it shouldn't have all these kinds of issues & it deeply concerns me.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/20/2020

1. Overtime, I noticed my car starts to jerk during acceleration and would accelerate, completely stall for about 2 seconds before getting back in forward motion. It when that jerk happens, it feels like the car is suddenly in neutral for those few seconds. This has been happening more frequently and has now been happening every other green light. This seems dangerous and I also don’t like that it does this on the highway. 2. Steering wheel has some resistance issues. 3. Ecm is malfunctioning because my dashboard constantly shows at least 5 incorrect warning check lights. Sometimes they change to other check lights, sometimes they appear and disappear when it wants. Very frustrating.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/18/2020

Under warranty and recall the speed crank(crank sensor) was replaced . And year later after warranty expire speed crank (sensory crank ) needed to be replaced. Overall the ac compressor was replaced, the mirror back needed to be replaced exterior, the door needed to be tightened, lock sensor needed to be replaced, key ignition needed to be replaced, and now where the crank is an oil leak has happened. The main rear seal needs to be replaced. Over all repairs have been costly every year around a thousand or more since boughten.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/04/2020

I have a 2017vw Jetta which suddenly locks as I am driving. My car suddenly starts reducing speed and the breaks become stiff. I see several lights flash on the dashboard, such as the epc light, tire warning lights, and motor light. After the matter, if I want to start the vehicle again, the break and shift stick become stiff and I can't start the ignition. I recall this happening to me one year after buying the vehicle but all I did was turn off the car and the lights went away. I was able to drive my car without that happening for a year or so and it happened again. Same thing, I would have to pull over, turn the vehicle off and wait for about 20-30 min for the vehicle to start. Yesterday this happened to me while driving to work. I was driving about 70mph on the freeway and I noticed my steering wheel became stiff and my car started reducing speed on its own. I no longer had control of the vehicle forcing me to pull over on the side of the freeway at a very low speed almost causing an accident. I had to wait about 15 min for my car to start and was able to get down of the freeway but it kept on happening on my way home and I had to pull over about 6 times waiting 10-15min each time for my car to start. I scheduled a service appointment with my local dealership so they can take a look at it and hopefully fix this problem. I believe this is a safety issue that needs to get addressed immediately.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

After driving for 1 hour or more on the highway, the car does not have the power to accelerate when driving at slower speeds and loses control of the speed. After driving 3 hours or more, the car will do the same while still on the highway. The car is not able to maintain speed in heavy traffic and becomes immediately dangerous.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/10/2020

While driving on the highway, my car began to stop accelerating by itself. Once the rpm exceeded three, the epc light came on. Further on down the road, the check engine light came on, so I had the codes read and was told to replace the camshaft position sensor. The following day I had this part replaced and proceeded to drive on the highway again. The lights came on once again and an additional light came on as well. This time the car slowed down so much that I was almost hit trying to get to the shoulder of the highway.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/14/2020

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while at a stop light, the engine revved while the brake pedal was depressed and accelerated independently causing the vehicle to crash into another vehicle. A police report was filed. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that there were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to a collision shop. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and filed a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 133,708.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/06/2020

On 9/6/2019 I bought 2019 vw Jetta 1. 4 t r-line tsi 16 valve dohc turbo 4 cylinder w/direct fuel injection. Had it back to the dealership the first week complaining about the grinding and growling noises under 40 mph range while driving in city traffic. I was told by another dealership it is normal for 8 speed transmissions. Also said the only way stop the noise is to drive it in sport mod , not good with gas consuption but you won't hear it. While making a u turn and coming out of a drive way into city traffic, it has unpredictable acceleration which really shocked me. I left rubber and the wheels made a loud sound on the pavement. It larched twice and I do not trust this car.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

Horn only occasionally works when honking and/or locking car, which increases the risk of a crash since I can’t always use my horn to alert other drivers of presence. One front headlight only occasionally works (lightbulb is not the issue), which increases the risk of a crash since other drivers may not be able to see me as well & I am not able to see the road as well in the dark. Cruise control does not work at all, which increases risk of speeding and therefore increases risk of crash. Dealer has inspected horn/headlight issue but could not determine cause. No warning signs. Issues first appeared a couple years ago.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/16/2019

The abs module faulting is a known and common problem for these vehicles. Vw has a recall for the abs software-recall #16v913. If your module doesn't crash when the dealer performs the update, which it likely won't, then they do not replace the module. We feel this is a workaround to cover them to not have to replace them. Ours went out this month while I was driving. This was extremely dangerous as I lost steering control and the vehicle kept downshifting below 30 mph on a highway that I should have been traveling 60 mph on. The epc and abs lights came on. When we called the dealer, they agreed to look at it to see if it was the abs module and if it would be eligible for replacement under the recall. It was not covered because they were "unable to perform the software update". This is because of the specific wording on the vw recall. I have read that several other customers have been turned away because of the same thing and left with expensive repairs. They should issue a recall to cover the faulty abs modules all together and not exclude them due to the "software update. " the recall is a play on words to cover them from not being required to replace them. It is strategic and misleading. We called vw and was told it would not be covered also. Here is a web link of other people logging the same experiences. There are others online. People can get killed driving these when they go out. Now we have to pay to a lot of money to get ours replaced by the dealer. Https://urldefense. Proofpoint. . Read more...

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/15/2019

Vibration and grinding noises at low speeds. Started around 200-300 miles on the odometer. Originally only occurred in eco mode now happens all the time. It has gotten progressively louder and more severe over the last 4-5 months I've owned the vehicle. Took it to the dealer twice and they told me it's normal but it sounds and feels terrible. The car feels very unsafe. Sometimes it accelerates very slowly and other times I barely press the pedal and it takes off and the tires spin. When driving in eco mode the internal computer seems to forget and switches back into regular drive mode but the eco mode button will stay illuminated even though the dash display says it is in drive. At higher speeds the grinding becomes more of a low growl or scrape and also vibrates much more especially when turning or accelerating. When I first start the car to leave home or leave work my brakes screech the first 3-4 times I apply them. It's so loud that my neighbors have complained multiple times. No matter what kind of driving I do or where it is the vehicle feels unsafe and makes loud grinding noises when accelerating or cruising.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

2019 Jetta se automatic transmission I have been having issues since I purchased my Jetta in January 2019 it seems like my car has a serious lag. I was driving and went to make a left turn and as I was accelerating out of the turn the car wouldn't go for a little while then it shot off. . I noticed that it does it when I slow down also it have very slow response time with the acceleration. It doesn't it every so often. Maybe about once or twice a week also when the auto engine turn off is engaged the car lags and sometimbes doesn't want to go. . Sometime I have to turn the car off and back on. Or shift it out and back into gears at red lights or drive through I take it to the dealership savannah Volkswagen and they say they can't find a issue or a fix. I honestly don't feel safe driving the car. . Especially with my kids.

52 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/26/2019

The epc light came on and I pulled to side and turn the car off. When I turned car back on the light was off. Then it came on another time and I notice when trying to accelerate to the car is lagging. So I decided to take to vw dealer in martinez GA and they said I had gotten some bad gas, they added some 44k additive to the tank. I was only using shell gas, so I was told to try another brand that was a top tier gas. I tried citgo and they had the top tier sticker on the tank. The car drove good for a day and a half then the light came on again with also the check engine light and the car started to shake. I have reached out to the dealership online and I got a call from a sales rep, who said she could help assist with purchasing a safer or new car. I don't want to buy another car at this time. I only have 125k miles and the car was running fine. I looked on the internet and I see that this is not a new issue with vw Jetta from 2014 to 2018 and vw has not figured out the fix for it. I was supposed to get a call back from the service advisor and I have not heard from him. So at the present time I am driving and pulling to the side of the road to get the light to turn off. When I get home I try not to go anywhere other that to work and back.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/14/2019

My vehicle has started to hesitate when I try to accelerate randomly. It doesn't happen every time I drive but it happens multiple times per week. I will press my gas, and my car will hesitate, I hear it revving but my rpms go nowhere. It's almost like it's not catching. This will occur for around 5 seconds, leaving me incapable of moving. It has left me stuck in the middle of intersections, taking unsafe turns out of parking lots, etc. It is a very scary issue. However, no check engine or other lights illuminate at that moment, and no codes are found when the car is scanned. I have a sprint drive device that is constantly plugged in to the oem port and it has never picked up on an issue which makes diagnosis very difficult. This leaves me in serious fear of driving my car that I just purchased certified used 3 months ago, with less than 30,000 miles on it. I also have another issue where the same set of lights come on every time I drive- abs, tire pressure, airbag, traction/anti-skid, and steering wheel light all come on at the same time. . . But not sure if they're related because they don't initiate simultaneously with the delay in acceleration.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

Takata recall: 2019 vw Jetta gli stalls and turns off while in neutral while stationary, as well as in gear and in motion. This happened on city streets and in parking lots, putting myself and my family in danger. Unsure of issue, but documented with video footage. No engine lights appeared. This happened 20 or more times yesterday, and one time 2 weeks ago.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/26/2019

Vw Jetta 2011 has been dying when idling, in park and while decelerating. It will be stopped at a stop sign or red light and just lose power. It has to then be put in park and the key must be turned to come back on. This also happens when coming to a stop. Recently, it happened coming off the highway going 45 mph. Car had to coast and the brakes were ridden to a stop where car had to be turned back on. Dealership has allegedly replaced issues with the epc light coming on, timing belt and fell pump. The problem persists. Thousands have been spent on this issue and the car keeps dying. It currently has 115k miles on it. There is also an issue when pumping gas at a gas station. Every time the car is filled up, it will not stay the first time turning the key. The gas pedal must be pressed a number of time for the engine to turn over and then the gas pedal must be pumped to keep the engine on. Randomly dying on the highway, on city streets and in intersection is very dangerous and will result in damage to cars, injuries and deaths.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/10/2019

My car is currently staged at my home it's still drivable but I don't know gor how long! I recently bought this car from a dealer in California about 3 months ago, now all of a sudden I'm having issues with my transmission I caught the issue fast and took it to a multistate transmission shop and they told me they would have to rebuild my transmission with the amount of money I already spent on fixing up this car I am extremely upset, I cannot afford such a insane amount everything with the car besides that is perfect though.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/18/2019

The engine may idle and stumble upon acceleration. This may be due to faulty engine control module software misadjusting the valve timing. " thi is the current safety recall for the same make model and year of my car, however, my VIN has not been included. This is the issue with my car. It will happen while in park, when slowing down to stop. My car has stalled as a result at a stop sign or at a light. Last time this happened was today.

58 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

I've noticed that my check engine light comes on and off, it's the map sensor. It has been replaced several times and everything has been fully cleaned, check engine light still comes on. My car also seems to go into limp mode while driving. I'll make a turn, and all of a sudden the car will not want to move at all, ill switch it to triptronic and it doesn't want to down shift or up shift. I have to pull over on the side of the road. Turn the car off then back on. This has been an on going problem with both of these thing for the last several months. I've also noticed that this is a common problem with Jettas my year. It's extremely dangerous. I can be in the city on a highway, anywheres and it'll randomly not want to go anywheres, the rpms will go completely up and still not move. I know from other, that there is an update for the ecu computer on the car, for the map sensor and to I guess he'll with the limp mode issue. I also know that when I hard brake, it'll go into limp mode. It's extremely scary.

59 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 11/29/2018

Takara recall- my brakes jammed up and would not stop, which resulted in a vehicle collision on November 29, 2018. I tried pressing the brakes, however, they just would not stop. I was driving home on a city street. They had done this after I got them serviced before and I notified the dealership, however, I was told they were fine.

60 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 11/07/2018

So inside of my vehicle I am unable to open my trunk by flipping the trunk switch. My left passenger door is unable to function properly. The windows won't toll down, the door is unable to lock and it's stressful because my car got broken into because of it. My right mirror turn signal doesn't function any more when I signal right it signals really fast and it's only signals using my headlight and tail light signals. Sometimes there is a kick to my car when I'm driving and in a couple of occasion when I start my vehicle my car revs up on it's own. Just a bunch of issues it's stressful. .

66 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/10/2018

The gear selector indicator display on the dash is flashing and the car is doing its own thing changing gears. It will not properly accelerate causing a major safety issue anywhere but especially on the highway. The car was properly accelerating on the highway before the display starting flashing and the car downshifted (into either 3rd or 4th) and refuses to upshift again. I think this is related to a mechatronic unit failure in the 2009-2010 recalls.
