The vehicle was taken to brooklyn Volkswagen service center (599 e 56th st, brooklyn, NY 11203) who diagnosed the failure stating it was because of outside source. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,700.

The contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta cc. The contact was driving 30 mph when he noticed how difficult it was to see through the front windshield. The contact stated that the windshield was distorted and caused headaches when driving at night or in the daytime. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer replaced the windshield. The contact stated that the replacement windshield exhibited the same defect as the original windshield. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer a second time regarding the windshield and the dealer informed the contact that the windshield could only be replaced one time. The contact was concerned that the windshield distortion could potentially cause a crash because of the impaired vision. The front windshield fogs up, and you cant see anything through it. You need to turn on the air-conditioning, so that it heats the front windshield up. If you don't do that, you will crash because of 0% visibility.

2007 Volkswagen Jetta had a rattling noise in the windshield. Consumer states that the noise grew in intensity and annoyance. He tried to find the location of the noise and lightly tapped the windshield and it cracked. The consumer stated after the windshield cracked, the air bag light illuminated. The dealer claimed a rock may have hit the windshield, however the consumer stated that was not the case. The dealer also stated the air bag light illuminating had nothing to do with the cracked windshield. The dealer fixed the air bag problem, but they did not fix the windshield.

The front defrost system does not work. There appears to be a secret formula need to get the defrost system to defrost the front windshield. I have made several complaints to the dealer and was informed that only 1 other person had complained of this issue. This is a very dangerous defect. Normally I'm driving through a storm, the windshield fogs up and I can't see. I end up pulling over to the side of the road wherever I can.

On December 17, 2007, I opened the hatch of my 2004 Volkswagen Jetta tdi and the window shattered. My wife and I first heard a pop sound and then the window exploded over our heads. It was a cold, dry morning in ne ohio (around 25 degrees).

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2005 Volkswagen Jetta GLS tdi from randy hiley Volkswagen on August 25th 2005. I took the car into north point Volkswagen in sherwood, arkansas to have the fuel gauge checked out on September 2nd 2005. The service tech took me to the shop to look at the car. He asked me if I knew the car was damaged, I said no. The salesman had said it had never been wrecked and if it had been wrecked they would sell the car at wholesale. The service tech at north point showed me the fuel pump/fuel gauge-sending unit had been broken. He said the only time they have seen this happen is if a car had been in a wreck. They put the car on the lift and found that the car had been repaired on the driver's side. We found bad welds, and no paint/rust protectant. Hiley paid for the fuel pump to be replaced. If you look at the vw web site for certified pre-owned you'd see that it shows under the underbody tab "no sign of damage". I called hiley vw to see what they were going to do about this. To which they said, "there is nothing we can do. " (hiley, general manager). I have had hiley fix a seat belt problem and check four wheel alignment on the car. After I argued with general manager about all the problems with the car. I'm tired of arguing! which I had to drive to arlington. The air bag light in on now. I took the car into moffitt vw. They say it's a problem with the seat belt. There's a flaw in the windshield. There are no doorsill protectors on the driver's side of the car. The rear passenger seat will not lock into place. There may be more wrong with the car, I have stopped looking. I have submitted a consumer complaint form with the texas attorney general's office and the arkansas attorney general's office. I have also submitted a complaint form with the better business bureau. What does this mean "certified"? is it just a way to dump a not "up to snuff" car on an unsuspecting customer?.

The lease on my vw it is end in one next month January 2005. They send a person to inspect the car, he found everything ok, his report say that I need to do a windshield repair. The windshield don't have nothing that you can clearly see, he used a special pen, and found like 60 chips like sand chips. Now they want me to replace the windshield, when there is nothig wrong with it. Please help me I am not willing to pay $350. 00 it is unfair. When this car has giving us only porblems and spend half of the time on ht e dealership. Thank you.

Defective windshield glass. Glass in 2004 Jetta winshield batch appears to be defectively annealed and tempered causing glass to fracture from temperature changes. My winshield cracked when sitting in hot sunlightthe air conditioning was turned on and the ac vent directs cold air to the hot windshield. Vent or glass bad.

There is significant distortion through the windshield.

Date of first known problem provided. Have already been through bbb autoline regarding most of the defects listed and thought manufacturer had fixed them. Now vehicle has the same problems plus more. All work being done at dealership is at manufacturer's expense, however, this car is a major inconvenience due to unreliability. Electrical problems aren't solved with replaced wiring harnesses, unsafe door hinges and window regulators make for hazardous driving conditions, airbag sensor problems, and quick to wear out rear brakes are all very dangerous defects for a new car owner to suffer with. Vehicle suffered a lost of power when check engine light illuminates. On March 7 2002 university vw discovered a defective airflow meter. The windshield was replaced for a cracked rain drain. The brake servo was changed for a pin hole air leak. Consumer was told that the glow plug harness might be the cause as to why the brake lights come on. The hazard switch switched on and off distressing other drivers behind. Replaced the hazard relay switch (on the dash) by myself. Back brake pad wore down to the rivets. Vehicle overheated on 3 occasions had pressure test and thermostat changed and problem still exist.

While driving about 65 mph passenger's side door glass fell down due to failure on glass support. Vehicle could not be repaired due to over mileage. Please provide more information.

The passenger window broke in the down position and became inoperable.

Engine transmission light failed after 3 months, both windows have fallen down into door, front bumper has been torn off, antena and other plastic objects around car have fallen off,abs system light is on again, cover for gas tank will not open (I had to pry it open), cup holders and mirror covers have broken, inside of car started to bubble after 6 months, because of the plastic. All the service department in san antonio could say was that I did not know how to manage car. I didn't know I had to take a class in opening the gas cover. Oddly enough, most of these things started to break after my two year warranty expired. All they had to say was that "when it rains it pours". I would never recommend this car to anyone.

While I was driving, the driver side window in my brand new vw Jetta collapsed inside the door and broke. I could not roll up my window. When I brought the car in, they said this is very common, due to hot weather. I think a recall is in order, to replace the part that cannot handle hot weather, and alert the public. Thank you.

Transmission stopped shifting into 4th gear while driving throught city, called for tow to dealer. Dealer sair electrical problem. After auto traveled to ky while parken in carporte windshield cracked from lower drivers side upwards into drivers view about 8 inches. Delaer refuss to replace windshield immediately. Says that failure must be verrified by some one who is on vacation, will be gone week. Montgomery vw in elizabethtown ky, service manager reported that it was a stress crack, and that should not be driven as unsafe, dealer will not supply replacement auto, or anything till inspection, all this time I am without a new auto. This is not any way for customer service.

Right front window failed to go up or down and the left rear window popped while closing due to broken lifters. The left front window fell into the door. The window regulator failed twice.

Reported my defective window motor problem to vw dealer--they charged me $65 to diagnose problem then proceeded to tell me I have a defective motor assembley. It would cost $269 on top of the $65 to diagnose the obvious. I have been in touch with several 1996 Jetta owners and they are also having the same problems!!.
