Hi , my 2014 Passat driven by a family member struck a parked truck. Luckily, nobody was hurt! the parked car was not occupied and the driver of the Passat was able to exit the vehicle unharmed. The speed was about 35 mph and the air bags deployed. This front collision resulted in a major fire that totally destroyed the car. The insurance company (progressive) is currently in the possession of the car. And one other important thing to note is that, about 2 years ago, this car was also involved in a different accident when it reared a car. That collision did not result in the deployment of the air bags but caused lots of damage. The radiator and lots of the plastic in the front needed replacement at that time. I don't recall the exact amount for the damage, but we ended up paying the full 2k deductible to get the car back.

Dashboard tire light repeatedly displaying and tires infated correctly. Abs and air bag light on . . Note all charging ports do not work. Stop driving light on. These warning start immediately when engine started. Last time around 2021 abs or similar words light required front end work regarding suspension I believe.

Bought in July and had 38461 miles and only put 3000 miles since bought. Driving down the road and it started raining and had 2” of water in my drivers side floor board. Took to jack morris auto glass and they looked at it and said the pan on the driver’s side of the sunroof was cracked. He told me that driving it was risky as it could catch fire and cause electrical issues. Please advise.

Car started to stall, the spark plugs, injectors, sensors all replaced. I go to pickup the car on three different occasions and it won't go 1/10 of a mile without stalling and refuses to start. The garage I was dealing with refuses to work on it any more. I think this seems to be a common problem with the 2014 Passats, but I don't see where anyone's has been fixed. The stalling has happened on multiple dates. Now it's at a garage and can't even get it to dealer and have already spent over 1000. 00.
There is a recall with the fuel pump and the manufacturer is claiming that I need to replace certain parts to be able to do the recall.

Check engine comes on 2014 vw Passat tdi 68,000 miles. Dealer code shows nox sensor is bad. This car is covered through 2024 and 120000 miles by vw extended emissions warranty due to diesel emissions fraud settlement with us government. Vw refusing to honor warranty and make repair.
The clock spring broke inside my steering and my airbags, horn and other controls on the steering wheel do not work.
The infotainment screen and system have malfunctioned. The screen goes black and attempts to reboot repeatedly, never actually starting up. This prevents any access to the infotainment system and and use of the backup camera. Not only is this an inconvenience but a safety hazard as all cars are now required to have a backup camera. Upon further research, this is a common problem among many Volkswagen models and has cost Volkswagen customers thousands per incident/case.
Noticed the carpeting getting wet on the drivers side floor. After doing some research online tracked it down to the drivers side drain for the moonroof. The hose shrunk over time and disconnected from the rubber piece that goes through the firewall and allows the water to drain outside of the vehicle. Had to splice a piece of hose to the original so it would be long enough to connect again. Worried that the condensation from the water leaking inside the car may affect electrical components over time.
The airbag on the driver's side, along with the horn and buttons on the steering wheel do not work. The vw dealership has looked at the car and said it needs a new clock spring, and that it is on back order with no estimation of arrival. The car is unsafe to drive and both the vw dealership and vw head office have not offered a loaner vehicle for me to drive my family in safely while we wait for the parts. Without an airbag, I could be seriously injured in an accident. I was also very nearly in a car accident that would have been prevented had the horn worked to alert the other driver sooner that nearly backed into me. The other continuing issue with this car is that there are still ongoing issues with the diesel exhaust fluid system. This system has had problems for years. The vw dealership has replaced parts on it numerous times but it continues to have problems. This car should never have gone back on the market after the initial recall, as the def system was never repaired correctly, and the airbag should be on recall already.

Airbag clock spring has broken but part is unavailable and has been on back order for over a year. I now do not have an airbag, horn or any steering wheel buttons. Couldn’t care less on the buttons but my concern is safety with the airbag and horn. Also it will no longer pass my states inspection. Volkswagen needs to fix this and now! part on back order for over a year and no expected time in near future is unacceptable for those in this position!! :(. They should realize some people will die instead of survive certain crashes without airbags working!!.
I heard a loud crack while turning my steering wheel and now I have an "airbag error" message and the controls on my steering wheel do not work. Is this related to the airbag recall? is it the steering wheel clock spring?.
The clockspring was repaired June 14 2018, my airbag light turned on when I was backing up my vehicle and none of the steering wheel control buttons operate.
* driver air bag, horn, all controls in steering wheel. * not having a horn or working air bag * yes, defective clock switch has been confirmed-this was a recall, was replaced and failed again * no- dealer/recall repair center only * no, air bag light came on and that was it. At that moment nothing worked this occurred in March 2022. I was told it would take 1-2 months to get the part. The part is still unavailable. Called vm customer care-they instructed me to call the dealer. The dealer has no control over parts coming from vw. Now driving 8 months without an airbag or horn. All controls in the steering wheel are inoperable. Most are convenience items. Air bag and horn are safety issues.
The clockspring has failed. It was identified by safford vw in fredericksburg in March 3 2022 because of the airbag light illuminating. I was told the clockspring part is on national backorder and given my car back. The horn does not work, the airbag light is on, the airbags would not function in the steering wheel if needed and none of the steering controls work. The vehicle will not pass state inspection. The dealer will not provide a rental for this issue and vw cannot provide any information on this backordered part. Vw requires the dealer to provide a rental for 10 days before they will consider a buyback of the vehicle for a warranty repair and the dealer refuses to provide a rental for clockspring issues. I have repeatedly called safford vw for updates who told me they have multiple vehicles waiting for the same part and cannot help me. I called vw and they also cannot provide any updates for this part and have no resolve on how to make my vehicle safe to drive on a factory warranted part. I requested a vehicle buy back with vw and the request was denied because the vehicle has to have been at the dealer for more than 10 days or multiple repairs for the same problem. I am stuck in a loop with vw and a faulty factored warranted part that cannot be produced.
Hello, airbag light on, horn doesn't work, volume control on steering wheel doesn't work, clicking when turning steering wheel. Huge safety issue with the airbag and horn not functioning at all! cannot get pass massachusetts inspection in its current state and have reached out to the dealer. Car was brought to mattie Volkswagen fall river, MA on 02/18/2022 and was told part was on backorder and they will contact me when it comes in. It has been 6+ months and still now clocksprings in stock. I check in often with them and they either don't respond or say still on backorder with no eta. This could cause a catastrophic accident and vw needs to step up to either expedite manufacturing of these parts, offer loaner/rental vehicles or replace the vehicle with a comparable model that doesn't have these issues. Dealer needs to replace the clockspring on the vehicle, which they claim is in warranty. However, the clocksprings have a huge backorder and don't show any signs of being filled.
My 2013 vw Passat with only 61576 miles showed problems with heat on driver side and no heat for passenger side . Brought car to dealer on 2/15/2022 and was told heater core was defective and should be changed because it could cause car to over heat and cause damage to engine if not taken care of. I had the car repaired at $1000. 00 out of my pocket because they wouldnt cover it in their warrenty. Multiple vw forum members have the same experiance . I contacted vw customer care and they would not help. I believe this is a major recall that could cause someone to blowup their engine for a poor quality heatercore.
Took vehicle to shop report oil leak no warning signs causing timing chain problems what is the cause of oil leak is the recall issue on the engine?.
When outside temperature freezes, so does driver door. Will not open from outside or inside. After a few hours driving, it eventually worked. But next day, same thing.
Mice and rodents just love eating various electrical wires, vacuum lines, diesel fuel lines (both from tank to engine & return lines), etc. Never once had any animals issues with my other vehicles. Discovered that vwoa thought it would be a brilliant idea to use soy in the manufacturing of electrical insulation, fuel hoses, vacuum lines, etc. Animals like eating soy. Very frustrating. My vehicle has been disabled before and one time I sprang a nice leak, leaving a trail of diesel behind me. Since all repairs and parts were ordered and conducted at local vw dealership. All records are both on carfax & stored in vwoa servers.
Clockspring broke when making a turn in the drive-thru pharmacy. Loud pop, then lost all power to steering wheel. Horn does not work, none of the controls work and the airbag is not guaranteed to work. Car has been at dealership for 5 months waiting for a repair. No eta for 5 months now. . . .
Heater core getting clogged again, after multiple replacements, vwgoa will not perform recall because of other not related recall not performed. When heater core gets clogged three things happen, passenger side stops producing heat, windshield defrost does not operate correctly, and coolant lost due to evaporating and or leak into intercooler that can lead to engine damage.
My clock spring went out in December 2021. Vw dealership acknowledged the problem and told me the repairs/part are covered under recall/extended warranty, but vw has a back order on the part. Meanwhile, I am without a drivers side airbag and a working horn almost 6 months later. I can’t even honk the horn to alert someone and prevent an accident. Vw could use aftermarket parts (aftermarket parts may work better), but they have refused. I am stuck with no airbag or horn and I can’t even trade the car in (except at the vw dealership) because it doesn’t have a working airbag. Super frustrated with Volkswagen!!.
Catastrophic safety issue many of the warning lights on the instrument cluster are illuminated. These include: * abs is steadily illuminated. * airbag is steadily illuminated. * the speedometer is not functioning showing "0" so I can't tell how fast I'm going. * the steering system indicator light is steadily illuminated. * check engine/engine malfunction is intermittent. * the electric power control indicator is intermittent. * esp/asr is steadily illuminated. * the alternator indicator light is intermittent * tire pressure monitoring is steadily illuminated. * the fuel gauge is moving ranging from empty to full therefore the low fuel indictor flashed frequently. * several times when depressing the accelerator instead of gaining power, acceleration dropped off. In traffic, at highway speeds, this is an additional serious safety issue. I have made no modification to the vehicle other than regular maintenance and new tires. I took the car to the local dealership where the on-site technical advisor speculated that the wheel speed sensor was at fault. This did not build confidence.
My clock spring broke in December, I am 50 on the list at our dealer. We called another dealer and was told it is a national back order and there are thousands on back order. . I called vw customer care and there does not seem to be any sense of urgency to rectify this. They are blaming covid and the war in ukraine.
The oil light/message comes on, the engine burns oil excessively about 1 quart every 1,000 miles or so. Our biggest fear is that this will continue to get worse and the engine may seize up at some point due to this issue and cause a loss of power and/or a severe accident for us or anyone operating one of these vw vehicles with the same issue. Vw indicated that this is "normal" but it does not seem "normal". We have never owned a vehicle (even older vehicles back in the 80s/90s) that had an issue like this, and this is a newer (2015) vehicle that we bought brand new. We had the shop look at the vehicle and they said it is burning oil and there might be a class-action against vw for it burning oil. It did not have this issue until some time after 30,000 miles which tells us that something changed in the engine at some point. With all of the burning oil, this cannot be good for air quality and the environment - not sure how many of these engines are on the road currently, but multiplied out it has to be contrary to any clean air acts that may exist in various states or at the federal level. Additionally, the oil is special "european" and is relatively expensive - the manufacturer indicates up to 10,000 miles between oil changes, so that could be up to 10 quarts of oil burning into the atmosphere (and costing money) for a single vw vehicle every few months, not to mention the safety concern if someones engine seizes up as a result causing a loss of power, loss of power steering, loss of power brakes, etc. The date shown for 'incident' is the most recent date that we had to add oil due to this issue.
The airbag light stayed on and the horn stopped working.
Faulty timing chain tensioner caused catastrophic engine failure. Resulting in ~$4000. 00 repair cost. I have read about alot of other Volkswagens having this same issue. Vw has redesigned this part several times, I did not recive a TSB stating there was an issue with an internal component of my engine even though vw knows this issue will result in engine failure.

On may 4th 2021 start button was replaced. While driving back the car from the dealer, car started to idle violently. Same thing happened the next day. So I drove it to the dealer. Service manager requested a mechanic to drive the car around and this time we could not reproduce the problem. Instead of running any diagnostics, service manager asked me to leave. Then for past 3 months this problem has been happening on and off. For past 3 days the car started to shake violently at lights (awaiting green signal) and esc warning started to appear on the dash board. Today I took it to the dealer and they suggested me to change intake cam shaft etc with a total estimate of $ 5000. 00 before the change of start button this car ran just fine.
The Passat autonomous braking system engaged while driving on a divided four-lane street with no traffic or obstructions. Lane assist has repeatedly disabled itself. Park assist sensors have repeatedly detected objects extremely close when nothing is present. There have been numerous other system failures. In 2019, I first reported the issues to a Volkswagen service center for repair. Since that time, the vehicle has spent weeks in service with Volkswagen involvement, with a report of no errors found. The faults have continued, seemingly at random, since 2019. I have supplied Volkswagen with notes, photos, and videos of the failures Volkswagen not state they cannot accept photo or video documentation, not will they pay for any repair even though the vehicle was under warranty until August 2020 and not repaired. I have a lot of photos and videos, as well as notes that I would be pleased to forward to you.
Ac not working under 70k miles.
Cylinder ignition lock jammed. Could not get key into ignition. Brought it to a mechanic who ordered a new cylinder from Volkswagen. That part also did not work. When he spoke to a Volkswagen representation, the representative stated "we've been having issues with those".
I took my vw in at 90000 and it was in need of a steering clock spring, here I am 30k mi later and guess what. I am told this is normal but I think he same breath the manger tells the other customer not to worry about it that it was only 2015s . 400 bucks later !!! and that was half. How is this not an issue or default!! I was literally in the drive thru and honked my horn next thing j know my warning system telling me my airbags suck.
Rattle noises while driving on asphalt roads from rear of vehicle underneath car and/or front. Loose bolts or missing welds maybe. Dealer replace front sway bar and problem did not go away so wallas Volkswagen put the original oem part back on last month and did not charge us for the service. They told us it's unknown why the rattling continued.
