I parked my vehicle in the ymca parking . I turned off the push button keyless entry. I exited the vehicle and locked the keyless entry system and entered the ymca. I completed my business and exited the y approximately 3 minutes later. My vehicle had rolled left striking the rear corner of a parked vehicle, then exited the parking lot and striking another vehicle parked on the street. If we assume I left my vehicle in drive position, there is no alarm, bell, whistle or safety system in place on a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan to prevent drivers from a similar accident. Volkswagen has a recall on 679,000 vehicles with what appears to be the same problem. The 2016 Tiguan should be ,but is not on this recall list. A person from vw informed me that recall was fairly new and the Tiguan could end up under recall yet . Should they wait until more Tiguans have accidents? my research shows that many makes and model vehicles have lights or alarms in place, including some when the vehicle door is opened.

The car was shut down by keyless ignition and the fob was removed when I entered a building. After 15 minutes it rolled away and hit a sculpture and rolled over. I as the driver failed to place the transmission in park or someone tampered with the car as someone was spotted in the car after it flipped over. My complaint is that when the car is shut down I believe it should have immobilized regardless of the shifter as I shut off the engine exited the vehicle. Keyless ignition safety in relation to rollaways in this model is not sufficient.
Bought the vehicle new in early April 2019, after a couple hundred miles I noticed a screeching/rattling noise coming from both the driver's and passenger's side b pillars. I took it back the dealer for a resolution to the issue. They heard the noise and said there is fix for the problem that involves gutting the entire interior and welding bad or missing welds on the structure up near the roof. I have two problems with their solution. First, this is a safety issue. Who knows if the roof would hold up during a rollover accident considering the dealership mechanics are not qualified welders for such a critical application. Second, the noise is very distracting while driving. So I have decide whether or not to let them tear the entire interior out of my vehicle and let them make shoddy repair on my brand new vehicle or take a chance on my and my passenger's safety. Shame on Volkswagen. These vehicles should be bought or replaced with a 2019 which doesn't seem to have the problem.
The issue involves ongoing water intrusion through the panoramic sunroof, front power windows, and windshield seals. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This recurring leak has caused extensive interior water damage, including visible mold growth in the carpet on multiple occasions. This mold presents serious health risks to both me and my passengers, especially my sister, who is undergoing cancer treatment and has a severely compromised immune system. Water pooling beneath the carpet also threatens critical electrical systems located in the floor area, including the vehicle electrical system control module (j519), can/lin bus wiring, door control harnesses, and footwell circuits. Corrosion or shorting in these systems could lead to unpredictable failures in safety-critical functions, even if not immediately apparent. Although Volkswagen dealerships have cleaned the sunroof drains as part of routine service packages, no formal diagnosis or confirmation of the leak’s source has been made. Independent mechanics have confirmed clogged drains and flushed debris to restore water flow. In 2019, I replaced the windshield at my mechanic’s recommendation because the interior glass was frequently soaked with morning condensation. Despite these measures, the sunroof continues to leak whenever it rains. No warning lamps or dashboard messages have ever appeared related to this issue. The first visible symptom occurred several years ago—possibly as early as 2019—when water began leaking from the passenger-side sun visor and headliner immediately after a car wash. Given the persistent nature of the leak, the associated mold hazard, and the risk to vehicle electronics and occupant safety, I believe this defect warrants manufacturer accountability and recall consideration rather than a temporary repair.

The first day I drove my new 2019 Tiguan sel home, I opened the passenger driver-side door and the handle got stuck and would not go back in. . . Made an appointment for 2-days later to get this fixed. During the 2-day waiting period, I was stopped in a turning lane on a four-lane, lighted road to make a u-turn. When I hit the gas peddle to go the car jerked forward, and went to a standstill for about 5-seconds while my foot was firmly pressing the gas peddle. This caused the two oncoming vehicles to have to screech to a stop; and the vehicle in the middle lane had to swerve to avoid hitting me and spin out. When the Tiguan started moving forward, I had to pull over because I was shaking. The same issue happened again the next day, but no oncoming cars were in sight. Went in for the door appointment, I told the service rep about engine and asked to speak to a manager. An assistant manager came out, I told him about the engine, and he respond that's a vw and gave me a hug and two free t-shirts. New door handle had to be ordered due to corrosion, had to come back 3-days later to have it fixed. During those 3-days, the passenger seat seat belt warning sound started randomly going off, along with the airbag light flashing above the hazard light when my handbag was on the seat. Reported that and the engine issue again at next appointment. Had to leave the car for two days. . . At pick-up was told everything was tested fine, but vw did not bother to test the seat sensor. Was instructed to not put anything on the passenger seat, as stated in the car's manual. Requested a new vehicle, or let me out of my lease due to feeling totally unsafe. . . Was denied by both corporate and dealer. Money should never come before safety, so I paid $3000 to break my lease today as vw corp & dealer told me to get back in that car. This is a deadly safety issue.

This car is dangerous! I had vehicle for 4 months and have only driven 411 miles car has started to hesitate when pulling out into traffic, it almost feels like it shuts off for a solid 4 seconds before it decides to accelerate. Gas mileage reads 100mpg, we all know that's not possible. . . Loud wind noises at 50 mph and a pop noise coming from drivers side door every bump in the road at 50 mph . The start stop option turns on and off when the road is rough or slightly bumpy!.
On October 11, 2018 I was driving straight down a side street traveling 30 miles an hour I heard a loud bang. I turned around and saw my side mirror broken and smashed into the side of my car window. To my surprise there was no other damage to the car. It was isolated to the side mirror. I brought the car to the dealer. I explained what had happened and they looked at the side mirror. They came back to tell me that something hit my car like a rock or stick. I was surprised and said really the rock or stick only hit the side mirror and pushed the mirror into the window? I said I believe that the defrost, lane change or power mirror wiring caused the explosion. It was determined that it was not covered by the warranty and estimated to cost to $1100. I had dealer order a new mirror. I scheduled the service and confirmed with the dealer that the part was ready. An hour waiting for the car to be serviced the service advisor got me from the waiting room to tell me that the new part that was ordered from Volkswagen and painted to order was damaged! to the service advisor informed me that the service department had a replacement mirror that had been ordered for another customer. Since that customer had not scheduled a time for service it was going to be sent out to be painted for me. I left the service department with my broken mirror. While driving home I realized, I had a problem with the side mirror, the replacement mirror came in damaged, and another customer had a problem with a side mirror. I can provide additional pictures.
Since brand new there is a rattle coming from the driver's side pillar. Taken twice to Volkswagen service and the rattle still there. Also the vehicle has shut off completely on two different occasions forcing me to restart my vehicle completely. Cold starts vehicle does not accelerate well, feels like when someone is learning how to drive a manual car for the first time and misses the clutch and the vehicle jumps. Taken twice to Volkswagen service and they said they adjusted the transmission and everything is well. As soon as I drove off the lot it began to do the same thing. Worried that the vehicle may shut off completely at an intersection or that there may not be enough power due to lag when necessary.
Vehicle was making a small annoying rattling sound, emanating from the driver side b-pillar, next to driver's head. Rattle had been intermittent initially but by 8,000 miles on the vehicle the rattle was almost constant at any speed whilst being driven over any surface smooth or otherwise. We took the vehicle to our local Volkswagen dealership and it has now been there for 32 days. A repair was done, but the result was satisfactory, so they are trying to repair it again.
While driving at any speed and on any road surface there is a constant rattling coming from the door and window pillars. It is very loud and noticeable at any speed. Going over rough roads and uneven surfaces makes the rattling worse. This vehicle is brand new and only four days old. When I called I was told there is no known structural issue. However there are dozens of this issue reported here and on various vw forums.
Rattling noise coming from the seatbelt column. Have brought in my car and sent recordings of the noise and the dealership said they cannot replicate the noise they now have it for the 3 mrs time and I have shared u tube links and the vw forum to show them that other customers have the issues.
I purchased my Tiguan se 4motion in July 2018 and since I have owned the vehicle I have had issues with the acceleration and noise coming from the passenger side b pillar. The acceleration feels like a turbo lag from the start where the gas pedal is pressed but the vehicle hesitates to respond causing a small "stall". This happens in both drive and sport modes. When accelerating up-hill the vehicle has issues with finding the proper gear and constantly searches for a gear to settle on. The b pillar noise sounds like loud clicking when going over bumps and ruts in the road and even makes a noise when opening the door to its fullest.
Ticking noise/rattling from the b-pillar on both the driver and passenger side.
Creak/rattle from driver's side b-pillar almost since new. Happens when driving over bumps in the road; happens most but not all of the time. Recently started same from passenger-side b-pillar, but less frequently. Most often noticed when driving a moderate speeds (35-55). This is a known issue with a TSB for early model year production. May involve poor/missing welds.
There is a rattle coming from lower b pillar rattle coming from driver seat belt retractor, overhead console, wood trim on both front doors, both tweeter speaker grills, both rear cup holders, also found rear deck lid clips not clipped in all the way driver rear access panel ratting along with both rear stop light access panels.
When I'm giving gas/ accelerating, there is a "hissing-sound" coming from outside and more clearer and louder to the passenger side person position. Can hear it even clear if I roll down the windows. Sound starts coming anywhere from 0 - max mph no matter which roads I drive in. Don't know for sure which part of the car is doing the sound but "acceleration" is the causing it and when I let the car roll without giving gas, the sound stops. So you should definitely give gas/ press acceleration pedal to hear this sound. Its been 9 months since I purchased this car and has roughly 11k miles on it. (tiguan se 2018 4motion) sounds from driver's side b column is also noticeably loud when driving.
There was water leaking and I brought my vehicle to a vw dealership to repair. They investigated the vehicle and found out that water leaks from the sunroof frame. They stated that the leak is in a location that cannot be found and cannot be repaired. Thus I had to replace the frame. The sunroof frame is fault even I had no physical damage or accident on my vehicle. This issue needs to be seriously investigated since water leaking from the sunroof may cause many other electrical issues with the vehicle.
The newest generation vw Tiguan has a b pillar issue where the rivets where the b pillar is welded rattles. I am concerned of the over all structure of the vehicle and how it would withstand a car accident.
Intermittent clicking eminating from drivers side b pillar with occasional creaking from vehicle frame in the same area. Question as to safety of the vehicles frame. The clicking is very irritating as it is next to drivers ear.
Purchased a 2018 Tiguan and developed a rattle in the b-pillar. Vw/body shop is repairing it according to a TSB that is not up to standard in my opinion. How can you fix a bad weld by making the space wider and spraying it with a sealer?.
In the first month of owning the vehicle, the fuel pump and fuel tank had to be replaced. Since then the vehicle has displayed intermittent loss of response to the accelerator pedal. This occurs when first shifting into drive, the vehicle will not respond to any input into the accelerator pedal. The engine rpms will hold at 1000 or drop to almost stalling the car. After about 10-20 seconds of this, the car will suddenly recognize the throttle input and will lurch forward. There is no indication of when the vehicle will decide to respond to the throttle input. The b-pillar on both sides of the car started to rattle when the ambient temperature was over ~55 f. This has been serviced once, per a technical service bulletin from Volkswagen. The service simply made the problem intermittent. The TSB states that the problem is caused by the air bag modules rubbing on the metal of the frame and body. Additionally the TSB procedure instructs the service technician to slide a screw driver between two pieces of body or frame metal, and use a hammer to bend the panels apart from each other. Has this be proven to not compromise the structure of the vehicle? the transmission consistently fails to find the correct gear to be in at low speeds or from a stop. When starting from a stop the transmission has a harsh shift in the first 3 gears. The transmission at time will start off in the 3rd gear, with the throttle fully engaged, and will take several seconds to determine that it needs to be in the first gear. By the time it finally shifts into first, it is at the peak rpm's for first gear and will harshly shift into second gear. This is then quickly followed by another jerky shift into third gear. Starting the car off in third gear has caused issues for making a turn in a break in traffic to the point where I can no longer reliably deem that to be a safe maneuver.
B pillar rattle/creaking metal sound, both sides, but worse on passenger side while in motion. Sound is always present.
Ticking in the b pillar. It comes and goes but is loud enough that all passengers in the car hear it. It is identical to the rattle that all other Tiguans have. Vw has a service bulletin for this issue but it has a narrow VIN range. There is most certainly a structural concern and inherent design flaw in the b pillar. TSB # 2050753/2.
The driver's side b-pillar has a rattle/creak. It's a slight ticking that happens most of the time over uneven roads or when you hit a bump; the rattle/noise happens over the smallest bump. Noise can be heard even on even roads. I've had the car since 1/31/2018 when I purchased it new, and as of today 5/12/18 has 2637 miles. I have noticed the rattle since the weather has been warmer and after the vehicle sits in the sun or outside. The rattle occurs at any speed; 15 mph - 70 mph. I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership since I want this issue documented since it's a known issue based on my research and the fix is not full proof yet. I don't want my car dismantled until I know the fix will actually fix it permanently. This is a known issue which has been reported to the NHTSA and vw already by other vw Tiguan owners. Vw has issued technical service bulletin 2050753 on 4/2/18 with a supposed fix, but multiple owners are staying that fix has not solved their issues. . Read more...
Vw has door lock hatch actuators that are hazardous. They break or fail so much that there are millions of complaints on the internet about them. My daughter's back door wouldn't open and now won't lock. This is very dangerous with children in the back seat because the child safety lock doesn't work. Vw is making a fortune on this because they charge hundreds of dollars for labor to fix them. Please make them make more reliable and safe door locks.

Nothing happened, simply I received the letter from Volkswagen and an important information about compliance recall 69v2 - driver airbag. This notice was sent to me in accordance with the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act. Volkswagen has decided that certain 2017-2018 model year Volkswagen Tiguan limited vehicles fail to conform to federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) no. 208 "occupant crash protection. " their records show that I am the owner of a vehicle affected by this action.

The sunroof of the car leaks when it rains or snows. Any precipitation will get into the vehicle. The drains are cleared and Volkswagen has said the sunroof drain tubs deteriorate and water does not make it outside the vehicle. Instead, all the water leaks into the foot well of the vehicle and has caused mold and other electrical issues. The dealership quoted us $3,650 to fix the issue of putting in new tubes and replacing the carpets. However, not the entire car has mold and needs the seats replaced as well.

There was a loud, continuous "clicking" noise coming from the driver's side all along where the roofline meets the side panels. This is from a structural defect due to a lack of welding in those areas. While in for inspection, I was loaned three additional Tiguans and they all made the clicking sound. It's a heat-sensitive issue, occurring when the temperature reaches at least 45 degrees and the metal expands. After four attempts to repair the vehicle by installing clips, wedges, and felt padding, Volkswagen agreed to re-purchase the vehicle from me. There are numerous complaints online about this issue, with vw repurchasing several vehicles. The clicking is a continuous issue whenever the vehicle is in motion.
Annoying rattle pillar-b driver side only while in motion. Rattle seems related to frame issue and temperature-dependent (it is louder when temps low 30s). Issue widespread reported on the web. Reports already of 3-4 Tiguans that vw has offered full replacement with new vehicles due to this issue. Concerned about safety of my family if structural defect. Car is brand new rattle started at 750 miles.
I purchased the vehicle the first week of February. A week later an awful rattle/ticking noise began in the b-pillar where it meets the roof line. The sound is very consistent and loud. Upon doing a quick internet search it appears that there are many complaints regarding this issue in this particular model. People have reported that vw has had their vehicle for weeks and are completely stripped inside. I contacted the dealership I purchased the vehicle from, sent them the info from NHTSA and videos of the problem. The shop foreman told me he knew what it was and it was an easy fix. I made an appointment. Drove it 70 miles to the dealership. Another tech worked on it without speaking to the foreman and found that both seat belt mechanisms where out of their track ( concerning in and of itself). The fixed that issue and told me to come get the car. I asked them if they spoke to the foreman about what he thought it was and they hadn't. I get a call saying they need to keep the car. The next day I'm told they are going to start removing the side panel and headliner. During that time I called vw customer care and I was told there are no known issues--but they have actually bought back people's cars for this same issue. I picked up my car 5 days later because I did not want it torn apart and used as a guinea pig and I needed a car and can't let it sit torn apart for months. They are telling me the only way to figure it out is to bring it back and restart the process, but it's clear from reports on here and other sources that they know about the issue and have deemed cars inoperable for this issue.
I purchased a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan sel on Saturday, 02/10/2018. Two days later on 02/12/18 on my commute to work I began hearing a "popping" noise from the b-pilars on both the driver's and passenger's side pilars. As if though something was loose inside there. I made an appointment to take the vehicle back to the dealer the following Saturday, 02/17/2018 and when I went in for the appointment the service representative informed me they would not be able to look at my vehicle until the following Monday. I asked him if they could provide me with a loaner so that I could leave my car there and he informed me that he could not make that decision. I looked for my sales agent and he was able to provide me a loaner (2018 Tiguan se). I received a call from the service rep on Wednesday, 02/21/18 telling me that my vehicle was ready for pick up. I went to pick it up and they informed me they had changed out a defective seat belt height adjuster on driver side. I took the car for a ride and it still made the noise. So I did not accept it. They loaned me a different car (2018 passat r) and was told they would work on my vehicle. They called me again on Saturday, 02/24/18 to tell me my car was ready. When I went to the dealer on Monday, 02/26/18 (I was out of town on Saturday), they told me they had changed the seat belt seat adjuster for the passenger side too. I took it for a ride and the noise was still there on both sides. Again, I did not take possession of my car. They told me they would have to dismantle the headliner to get a better grasp of the problem. I was called again on Friday, 03/02/18 to inform me that they were going to have to bring a specialist from vw (in approximately 2 weeks from 03/02/18) to diagnose the problem before taking more invasive actions. They loaned me a third car (2018 vw Tiguan sel) and no concrete answer on my vehicle.
Rattle noise coming from left b-pillar above seatbelt constantly. Near left ear of driver. . Told dealer about the noise while on a test drive before purchase, he advised us to bring the car in for service. We took the car in on our second day of ownership and dealer dismissed the issue saying they couldn't hear the noise. I did a quick internet search and turned up numerous complaints and NHTSA cases for this same issue. I'd like to either have the vehicle repaired or return the vehicle to the dealer for a refund.
