Feb 2026 my airbag light came on few days ago, now my horn doesn't work, and the functions on the steering wheel don't work, like being able to reset tire pressure and check functions for the car, the phone, the radio/cd information. Jan 2025 my seat belt (driver ) lock is broken ,to attach the seat belt in place. . I have to just keep it clicked in, and put it over my shoulder (over a yr now) also , as of Aug 2025, my car keeps having issues of stalling/ bucking, even though my mechanic has changed the points/plugs twice now. And the overheat light comes on ,off and on. . Sometimes clears up once the car is shut off and then turned back on. . Some times has to sit for a while, then clears up.

Fuel sensor failure caused the fuel gage on the dashboard to incorrectly indicate the amount of fuel in the tank. The vehicle had 56k miles and the entire gas tank had to be replace since the sensor is built into the fuel tank. Volkswagon would not warranty the repair. This is a safety issue because not knowing how much fuel is in the tank could leave the driver stranded in bad weather or in an unsafe place.

I am filing this complaint to seek a full buyback and debt cancellation for a 2017 vw Tiguan (VIN: [xxx] ) sold to me by carvana for $40,000. Summary of deception: carvana sold this vehicle as "certified" with a "150-point inspection" guarantee. This was a fraudulent misrepresentation. Within six months, the vehicle required 45+ mechanical services, including a full internal teardown that revealed catastrophic wiring corrosion caused by a long-term sunroof leak. These were latent defects present at the time of sale. The vehicle has has 2 turbos: one recalled (now currently being recalled again) and one replaced 3 months into ownership. The vehicle slowed down on [xxx] traffic and I had to make an emergency exit and take to the dealership. This make and model were completely overhauled engine and externally after my model 2017. 45 mechanical services in 12 months justifies a recall and an exchange, safety & financial hardship: as a high-level executive commuting from [xxx] to [xxx] , I required a reliable vehicle. Instead, this car decelerated dangerously on [xxx] , nearly causing a collision. Despite active steering and turbo recalls, Volkswagen mechanics have deemed the car "unsafe for road use" since January 2025. I am warned that any further driving will void my warranties due to engine damage risk. Bad faith negotiations: I have attempted to resolve this with carvana and Volkswagen executive care. Carvana offered a mocking $500 gesture for a $40k total loss, while their supervisors were condescending and dismissive. They have refused to provide the original inspection report. Impact: I have lost tens of thousands in wages, rental costs, and storage fees while my credit and mental health suffer under $19,000 of debt for a "shell. " I am seeking an immediate buyback at their expense to resolve this matter and restore my ability to work safely. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My car constantly gets a p24d6 error code which is a tank ventilation pressure sensor 2 issue. It prevents the car from auto starting using the remote or the vw app.
2018 vw Tiguan, 65,109 miles. Unable to add fuel to the vehicle. The filler neck would back up with fuel and even on the lowest setting, the pump would click off on back pressure. Fuel would often splash out. Gas smell or odor in and around the car. When parked in the garage, the fuel odor was strong. No warning lights or check engine lights were on. Dealer replaced b evapcanist, a c ldpump, af valve. Dealer charged full cost for repairs. After multiple calls to vw consumers assistance, the repair charge was covered under warranty and refunded my payment. Vw should cover or repair faulty emissions controls that cause serious safety issues with gas vapors inside or around the vehicle, and/or contribute to inability to properly and safely fill the vehicle with fuel.
11/19/2024 check engine light came on while I was driving. Got home, checked oil and it was down about a quart. Oil had just been changed on 10/17/2024. Only approximately 1800 miles put on vehicle since last oil change. Vehicle was at approximately 62,000 miles. Also tire pressure light always on. Scheduled appt with vw dealer. Dealer invoice states "p04f000 checked purge valve and found oil in line, due to defective crankcase breather, and causing an oil leak, replaced crankcase breather, replaced the evap purge valve and replace the upper timing cover gaskets. Cleared oil off engine and test drove". The engine could have blown while I was driving this, I had no previous warning signs and since the dealer says the defective crankcase breather, thinking they should be fixing this issue and not charging the customer. Total cost of repair $960. 02.
My car has been having issues since I hit 40k in 2022. Each time I took it in to ontario volkswagon for a diagnosis and repair they could find anything because the check engine light was not on. So they would tell me "based on milage this is the service we recommend" the dealer kept telling me its the gas your using bad gas but I only ever pump is mobil, or shell and always use 91. So by them saying that at every visit they knew what it was but failed to properly diagnose it. Fast forward to current date my car at 83k my car has stalled out several time going into limp mode on the fwy. It throws an error warning "max 4000 rpm" the cars check engine light turn on I am unable to accelerate and my speed starts to decelerate you can only imagine how scary this can be with your kids in the car and your car starts decelerating while the cars around you are going highway speed. Before it started with the error message the car would sputter while accelerating onto the highway then what felt like a hiccups when hitting 2000rpm and keeping it at a steady speed. After spending thousands of dollars fixing recommended services and pleading with ontario volkswagon the service advisor finally said volkswagon exteded the warranty on the fuel injector wiring harness but the only way to get it repaired was if the check engine light was on and the error code for that was present at the time of service. My car obviously is experiencing the symptoms but the dealer fails to honor the warranty. This should be a standard recall on this car. My experience was a frightening one and could of gone differently if it happened at a different time of day.
Me and my family were driving to los angeles on a freeway. All of a sudden the car showed a warning saying something like "limited to 4,000 rpm", and we felt strong vibration under the hood. We decided to pull over at a first available gas station. While turning into the gas station, the car refused to go and refused to start, making a loud clicking sounds. We had to tow the car to the nearest vw dealership (galpin vw). Later they informed us that they have to replace fuel injectors and harness and it will cost us approximately $2,600. After paying the amount, I found that vw issued a recall/bulletin for this very problem - vwp-23-03 for my model year (vw Tiguan 2019). I contacted vw but they refused to honor the warranty claiming that the warranty does not apply to my VIN. It seem obvious to me that this is the same exact problem as described in the bulletin vwp-23-03. I feel like vw has made a mistake by not applying this bulletin to my VIN number (and probably others) and is endangering motorists that would otherwise get this serious issue fixed during regular maintenance.

My Tiguan randomly shuts down or stalls while driving. I have come very close to accidents because it is in the middle of the road where I can't pull over, people coming around a curve behind me that may not have time to brake, specifically RV's and semi-trucks. It is terrifying. I have maintained my vehicle meticulously and payed thousands in repairs only to be told by dealerships and vw corporate offices that there is nothing they will or can do and that there are no recalls and out of warranty. However. . . There was one in 2014 citing dangerous to drive because of stalling. According to kbb. I don't know what else to do and I am not able to get a new vehicle.

An issue occurs intermittently when accelerating from a stop/at low speeds. When pressing the gas pedal, there is approximately a 3-4 second delay before the engine kicks in. Theres is no acceleration during those 3-4 seconds and suddenly, the engine will jolt you forward. This presents a safety issue when pulling out on to a street and this vehicle will not move forward. There have been 2 instances where I have almost gotten hit/involved with road rage due to this issue.

After filling up one day I was heading home and started to smell gas from my ac vents when I turned it on I didn’t pay much attention until I got nauseous and a huge headache. Later that day my boyfriend tried to get to work and the car said “engine off” and turned off on the side of the highway if wouldn’t start. We figured maybe a battery l got it towed home afterwards and just let it sit for a day bought a new battery it didn’t start then noticed there was no gas in it suddenly I just had a full tank the day prior. When I cranked it up the next morning after going to get more gasoline it all just started spraying from under the engine and it smelled like gas. I’m to scared to move it far and it blows up or something.
Car exhaust is under car and does not come outside of under the car. We were in an accident and were told that because there are now cracks and gaps under the car that the exhaust is leaking into the body of our car and could cause co2 poisoning. If the exhaust were not under the car there wouldn’t be a safety concern.

Same issue as reported with NHTSA campaign number 24v110000 fuel has flowed into evaporative emissions and has leaked out of the charcoal canister. The dealership is replacing the following parts- fuel tank evap canister leak detection pump purge value.
I was driving and the fuel gauge quit working randomly. I am unsure how much gas is in my vehicle. I have had to get several repairs since purchasing my car from carmax including my turbo boost, fuel pump and gas line. I financed the car in 2021 from carmax.
My Tiguan was towed on [xxx] to beyer Volkswagen [4017 valley pike, winchester, va 22602] for service to repair a sudden and unexpected vehicle failure. on [xxx], I started the Tiguan and noticed a hard start. I drove the vehicle about 4 miles down the road and noticed a smell of gasoline when I stopped and opened the door. I immediately drove the car home at which point I noticed gasoline on the road and driveway, as well as a heavy persistent smell of gas. I moved the vehicle to the road and had it towed [$95 at my expense] to beyer vw for service. This failure rendered the vehicle undrivable and luckily was able to get it towed before it became engulfed in flames. [xxx], after getting the vehicle back for 1 week (dealership claiming repair fixed) the problem was not fixed and in fact gas spewed from the engine at a higher rate. Pictures attach showing about of gas which instantly dispelled at start and move from driveway to road. This is a critical vw problem that will result in fire. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The car keeps throwing sensors (camshaft, crank sensors, throttle body etc) and the ecm needs to be updated. It keeps turning over. I checked the recall list of vins and mine is within the range, however there aren't any recalls listed.

The car has a severe hesitation when accelerating from the stop. This hesitation is dangerous in regard that when you try to accelerate from a stop sign into traffic, the car can sluggishly bog down exposing you to oncoming traffic. The issue is more severe after cold start, but can happen anytime. Has caused me to pull out in front of traffic many times only to bog down and nearly be in an accident.
Received max rpm 4,000 warning while on long drive. Happened and had to restart car several times. Lost ability to accelerate. Also, when car was on cruise, started shaking.
From a cold start, the vehicle seems to have an issue with fuel/acceleration. When pressing the gas through an intersection, the vehicle seems starved for gas and does not accelerate and almost stalls. This is very dangerous in a city environment, as the gaps between cars is sometimes small. There are no warning signs, just reports from several of my drivers experiencing the same issue with the same vehicle. We just purchased 13 of the same vehicle.

Ongoing issues with hesitation when accelerating from a stop. The car will feel like it has no power when pushing on the accelerator it may then jerk into gear and accelerate quickly or what feels like jerking in-between gears.
Jittery acceleration. Intermittent accelerator hesitation from a stop. The car hesitates or bogs down which can be unpredictable when pulling into traffic. Sometimes the rpms surge during low speed without input from the gas peddle. I have had the car serviced twice since leased in July 2023. The dealership is fast to say they are all the same. There are no warning lamps for this issue and the dealership states no faults can be found with vdas or gff.
Gear shift from gears 1 to 2 or 2 to 1, the gears often “slip” resulting in a slight delay or jolt upon acceleration. This is an ongoing issue that occurs frequently, for years.
Severe throttle lag. Has almost caused three accidents. When pulling into traffic there is a 1-2 second delay in acceleration after pressing the throttle. Seems to be worse in hot weather.
Malfunction with power delivery/transmission: I often experience inconsistent acceleration/power while driving at low speeds, the loss of power and jerks feel very similar to an engine misfire. Safety risk: this behavior is very dangerous as we instinctively push down gas pedal to overcome lack of power and it causes the car to rocket forward as too high throttle has been opened and one can easily lose control and crash. Occurance: I feel this loss/inconsistent power situation happens at cold start and once the car is warmed up it doesn't occur anymore. If I don't push the gas pedal the power delivery is very inconsistent and car will jerk which feels like like a misfire while slowly the power delivery smoothens out.
Cylinder #2 misfire, multiple misfires. Codes p030200 and p030000 after car sat idle for 20 minutes. Dealer unable to recreate issue. Stating “bad gas” because they are unable to figure it out. Taking it to separate dealership for investigation/second opinion. Car is filled at same shell gas station and has been for the past year. Bad gas is just not true. Several owners experiencing same issue and injector harness is being replaced. Please investigate.
When I turned the car on to leave work, the check engine and epc lights came on, the car went into "limp home" mode and a warning came on the dash saying "max speed 4000 rpms". Immediately, I could smell fuel, so I turned the vehicle off and exited. I noticed the ground under the car was wet. My husband came to check it out and the same thing happened. We saw that fuel was flooding out from underneath the engine. As he drove the vehicle to an adjacent lot to be able to be towed, fuel spewed out from underneath the engine. We had the vehicle towed to a vw dealership in grand rapids who was able to diagnose a broken fuel rail bolt inside the intake manifold after they had the same experience with a massive fuel leak. Per the service advisor, this was not the first time they've seen something like this. Given the extreme flow of fuel from the engine, I'd say I'm very lucky that this didn't happen while driving through town or at speed on the highway where a vehicle fire would be possible with fuel pouring out of the manifold onto the hot engine.
My 2022 vw Tiguan 2. 0t has delayed acceleration, hesitation, and often bangs into gear at start up. This issue can easily cause an accident when merging into traffic due the lack of reliable acceleration. I have had the vehicle to the dealer and they have found no problem. However, when pressed about internet reports of such problems with the 8 speed transmission they do acknowledge they have heard similar reports. They note there are no repair solutions from vw.
Acceleration fails or hesitates on acceleration from zero mph. This has occurred every day since new (June 2023) and only happens for 5 minutes after start up. It feels like it is going to stall out, but so far it has not. Each time I accelerate for the first time, my car makes a jerky start. It usually goes away after I've been driving a bit. I've tried letting it warm up a couple minutes, but that does not seem to matter. I took it to the dealer at 3,000 miles and they said they could not duplicate the problem (but the car had warmed up by then) and that I should use b&g gas additive. I was unable to find that brand but did use gumout gas treatment and it did not make a difference. It is a safety issue because when I need to accelerate even moderately to get onto the street, the car bucks enough that another car coming could hit me because I was expecting it to accelerate. I previously had a 2020 Tiguan and it did not have this problem. There is a reddit thread on this as well as this link so it is not just my car. Https://lemberglaw. . Read more...
The vehicle stutters or hesitates when accelerating from a stop. This is even more prevalent when the car has first been started. This is a major safety issue as when my family is pulling out into traffic the car just lurches forward initially before then finally just taking off. It's almost as if there is a delay in fuel being sent to the engine to move it forward. It shakes a little and then goes really fast. You can hold your the gas peddle down some and the car won't move then after a second or two it finally accelerates without moving your foot at all. This is a brand new car. Seems incredibly unsafe especially when I have a family of 6 in the vehicle.
Water pump melted and needed to be replaced, car won't start, airbag light is on and clock spring needed to be replaced, heated seat gets extremely hot on driver's side when turned on.

Since new (1/12/2022) the vehicle looses power when shifting between 1st and 2nd and/or 2nd and 3rd. This has been to the dealer several times and they always claim they can not duplicate the issue as it tends to be intermediate. I had to go to the dealer, drive the vehicle with the service manager and show him exactly what it does. I did that 3 weeks after the car was left with the dealer, this latest time, which it is currently still at the dealer for over a month now. Now they are telling me that this is how the transmission works and there is nothing they can do. This is dangerous! you don't know when it is going to happen and it doesn't matter if the car is warm or cold. You don't know, when pulling into traffic, if the vehicle is going to accelerate or not. Volkswagen claiming this is a normal function is a complete lie. They can't explain why it only happens randomly, but will just say it's "normal". It's unsafe and they need to do a nationwide recall and provide everyone who has an unsafe vehicle, a vehicle to drive until they are able to provide us with a vehicle that isn't dangerous to drive.
My vw hesitates when I step on the gas during first use. This condition will continue until the vehicle warms up. The hesitation will cause the vehicle to speed up very fast. It’s a safety risk when I enter traffic, either on a highway or on a local road. That’s because when I pullout in front of on coming traffic, the vehicle will not get up to speed in a timely matter and then it will speed up very quickly. It will hesitate and jerk back and forth. I’ve learn now that I can not pull out into traffic until I don’t see any oncoming traffic. The dealership is unable to repair because they are awaiting on a software update that vw is working on for the vehicle because I’m not the only one with the problem. No warning lamps or messages. It always happens when the vehicle is first started after sitting for several hours. It first appears a few months after I purchased the vehicle.
Vehicle has hesitation during cold acceleration. If vehicle is started, pulled to end of short driveway, then go to accelerate onto road, vehicle hesitates and stumbles at times, not wanting to move properly and safely enter roadway. Tried accelerator pedal position reset and no change. This is a common vw Tiguan issue. No fix for it and dealer does not want to acknowledge that it exists. Simply looking on this site and a quick internet search will confirm it exists and is a common issue. And very well could be a significant safety issue when pulling into traffic. In addition, our Tiguan also burns an excessive amount of engine oil with no repairs wanting to be made by vw and now has a p2402 code causing engine light to come on all the time. Numerous troubles that are adding up fast and no help or support from vw and its dealers.
When I leave somewhere it will “stall” very noticeably when giving it gas, to the point it won’t accelerate and feels like it’s not getting fuel for a second or two. It typically does it once and then drives normally. This happens almost daily and has done this since the car was bought new a few months ago. I have experienced this when pulling into traffic and the car not accelerating to get me up to a safe speed. It has not been inspected by a dealer at this time but several other owners of 2022 Tiguans are reporting the same issue. No warning lights are on or come on when the vehicle does this.
