The safety computer which checks the different sensors and reports their condition on the I instrument dash indicated air bag sensor failure, this automobile has not been in any accident. . A rear seat belt came apart. The top plastic locking system came apart from the metal part of the locking system, making the seat belt not useable . The sear belt was not used very much, since we are retired sad my wife does all the driving/ ergo the rear seat is not use very often. The vw dealer does not believe this type of failure is a future safety condition . Dr. . Charles h. Vanderpool.

Nthsa folks, two months ago, I began getting an "error airbag" amber warning in the Touareg's driver-information display. I visited the dealer and was told "the airbag module" (Volkswagen-2016-Volkswagen-touareg-control-module-7p0959655g08p) was the issue. I was told they'd order the part, only to hear back later: "there are none in the u. S. And it'll take 5-8 weeks to get one from. Europe. " this has since been updated with "we have no idea if or when this part will be available. " as a consequence, it appears I must simply wonder whether the airbags will deploy if needed, which strikes me (no pun intended) as irresponsible on vw's end, particularly since it concerns a safety-related failure. Indeed, if this part is so unavailable, it would seem that either many owners are experiencing the same problem, or the problem is extremely rare. (I believe it's the former. ) anyway, I bring this to nhts' in the hope of getting clarification and/or assistance. And ideally helping find a way to restore full airbag functionality. Thank you for your time. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Baxter Volkswagen la vista (7108 s 124th cir, la vista, ne 68128, (402) 983-9801) stated that the air bag control module and assembly were corroded, which affected the steering wheel functions, air bags, and horn. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and offered no assistance with the repairs. The failure mileage was 73,600.

Hit a very massive pothole and it caused the airbag faulty statement to appear on the dashboard. It appears the airbag attempted to discharge upon hitting a pothole and did not discharge and thus the airbag mechanism was considered faulty. A pothole/rumble strip should not cause a airbag fault to appear as this could be dangerous.
The dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle is cracking all the way around the air bag container. I fear safety and I am afraid that the air bag will pop out through the cracks and cause an injury or not be functional if needed. The cracks have been spreading slowly over time regardless if the vehicle is in motion. Currently the cracks are closing in to the full line around the air bag container. I wonder what will happen when the crack line is complete. Will the airbag pop out on its own and cause an injury? I was told that the air bag pressure is causing the cracks.

My airbag fault light has been on for a few months now and I'm getting concerned. Was there a recall or what is the best way to fix this problem?.
The dash on the passenger side of the vehicle is cracking all the way around the airbag container. I fear that the airbag will be able to come lose and possibly cause injury or become non functional and thus unsafe when in need.
Airbag module defective with only 54,496 miles and a $1200 cost to fix. This is a safety issue! dash lighting has went on and off for for airbag. A washer pump defective, power train transmission jumps and has been an ongoing problem and known problem by Volkswagen but nobody wants to admit the defect problem.
Both right and left side front airbag wiring harnesses required repair within 600 miles of first incident to correct prior repairs to replace harness connectors with spliced wire under voluntary service pack "recall". Both repairs were triggered by airbag fault light on dash. You had done an investigation in 2006 on this. Vw would not cover the repairs because I was "out of warranty". It cost me $600 to fix the problem and I have no assurance from the dealer it won't occur again or that I will need new harnesses or airbag modules.
In a front-on collision that caused $22,000 of damage to the front of my vehicle, neither of the front airbags deployed.

2004 vw toureg fault with airbags. Electrical system has failed which has resulted in all of the airbags to be deactivated. The wiring is routed around the horn which has resulted in one side of the horn to not work. Unsafe and needs to be recalled.
I was traveling approximately 40 miles per hour when I rear ended a vehicle. My airbag deployed, but not as much as I thought it would. The airbag barely hit my upper body and then it seemed 3/4 deflated almost immediately. I don't think the airbag was working properly because I would think from what I've seen that the airbag would have been alot fuller and would have me pinned up against my driver seat, but it did not. I was able to exit my car without a struggle and don't remember even touching the airbag when I exited the vehicle. None of the other airbags deployed, are they supposed to when you get into an accident. I guess I'm lucky that when I hit the vehicle in front of me that the impact was not harder, because I don't believe the airbag would have kept me from hitting the steering wheel with great force or even saving my life. I plan to contact Volkswagen directly about my complaint as well.
2004 vw Touareg v-8 many problems but 3 worth reporting: for no apparent reason passenger door could not be opened or unlatched by using any known means including the inside door handle or outside door handle, electric lock actuator clicks as if the door is unlocked but the door can not be opened or unlatched. Vehicle had to be brought to vw dealership and worked on by destroying the door handle to open the door and perhaps cutting a whole in the body pannel at the cost of 2 hours of diagnostics, 8 hours of labor to open door and probably 2 or 3 additional hours of replacing door handle if body of door is not bent, plus parts vehicle has many electrical glitches including but not limited to intermittent malfunction of air bag igniters. . . . Once again having the potential to cause serious harm occupants given the right circumstances this is a potential dangerous situation and has made me lose all faih in this manufacturer. Vehicle lunges forward when stopped at trafic lights and beginning to procceed on a green.
The airbag on this vehicle has needed to be replaced four times in five years. We await the fourth replacement. The manufacturer and dealer while recommending the car not be driven until a replacement is available are unwilling to provide a replacement vehicle stating the risk of operating the vehicle now rests with the owner.
- while traveling 40 mph on a state road another vehicle slid into contact's vehicle, impacting the Volkswagen on the driver's side front fender to the back of the vehicle. Vehicle spun around and the passenger's side struck a guard rail. None of the airbags deployed during the crash. A police report and pictures were taken. Updated 02/06/07.
I currently own a 2005 v-6 Volkswagen Touareg. The vehicle has less than 15,000 miles. Approximately 3 months after owning vehicle, the vehicle exemplified obvious shifting concerns as well as poor gas mileage. The transmission was replaced in hopes to correct the issues described above, however, it has not improved. I was asked to drive the vehicle for at least another 6 months to a year, to break it in. In this time, my car has worsened. The shifting is more erratic, losing power, jumping gears, and nearly stalling when taking off from a stop and at intersections. As a result of the erratic shifting, I have been nearly rear-ended. My car has been in 5 times for 3 to 8 days at a time. The dealership has not been able to duplicate this issue, since it has replaced the transmission. The only service the manufacturer has done to my vehicle in hopes to correct the poor shifting and poor gas mileage (11-12 mpg) is computer software updates. None of which have ever fixed the problems. In addition, with each month that passes, new mechanical problems arise. The seat adjustments fail, along with the radio, the trunk hatch, the airbag, etc. The car overheats and smoke comes from the tires & wheels, of which the manufacturer took notice to, but could not determine the cause. The service department at Volkswagen has had 5-6 attempts to service the multiple problems since may 2005 and it is now January 07 and my car is still in the shop for the same problems. In addition, the tires (w/ pads/rotors (sp?) are completely worn, and the vehicle has only 12k miles.
