Failure Date: 04/12/2025

Rear viewing camera does not display when vehicle is placed in reverse.

3 Equipment problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 04/04/2024

My lane assist camera is not functioning and Volkswagen is telling me the part is now obsolete and can't be repaired. It is part #7p6907217bxz1y. I took it to pompano Volkswagen on 4/4/24 and have been waiting for the part which has been out of stock and they (gunther Volkswagen since pompano closed) just told me on 8/8/25 the part is no longer available and offer no solution to fix this issue. Seems very odd that a car manufacture would be allowed to not supply a replacement part or be able to fix the problem for a car that is 8 years old. Especially for such an important feature like lane assist and collision avoidance systems - how am I supposed to sell a car without these features functioning? I have contact Volkswagen corporate customer care without any avail as well.

4 Equipment problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 11/13/2023

I purchased a 2017 Volkswagen Touareg v6 in October 2023. A problem with the vehicle revealed itself right away. It was consuming too much oil. Oil splatter is present on the hood, the car doors, the back bumper and built up oil residue is present in both tailpipes. Oil has to be added in about three week intervals. The vehicle is displaying the same issues as the vehicles recalled under recall number 21v321000 and I believe this vehicle should be added. I have taken the car to two shops that have confirmed the over consumption. Please evaluate.

5 Equipment problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 03/20/2023

Exhaust line for cylinders 4-6 developed crack immediately before catalytic converter. Problem has occurred in other Touaregs, there is even a recall for 2014 models. Crack allows exhaust to leak nearby air intake to cabin. Noticeable exhaust smell inside cabin, especially when stopped. No warning, just check engine light after the crack. Crack along thin weld, leading right into the catalytic converter. Also environmental concern that exhaust gasses are not being treated. Potential fire hazard.

6 Equipment problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/24/2023

While using adaptive cruise control, vehicle intermittently displays "acc not available" cruise control completely disengages and does not allow for traditional cruise control functions. Typically acc begins to function again after about 5 mins or by powering off and powering on vehicle. Vehicle has never been in an accident. All incidents occur in southern California. Situation when it disengages can pose safety risk to due sudden loss of propulsion while keeping up with traffic, especially frightening when driving at an incline, I. E. Grapevine. Message is intermittent and can turn on 10 minutes into a drive or two hours into a drive. Unable to show dealer message. No advanced notice of acc failing or issue with vehicle. Vehicle has had all maintenance done with dealer. No modifications to any component.

7 Equipment problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

The car at half tank will read as being empty. Fuel pump flange? the car will have gas and then randomly show fuel error and drop to empty. The car is drivable and then while drive will switch to empty back to half full mode. Less of the worry the adaptive cruise control and fwd collision warning freeze/not working.

8 Equipment problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 03/19/2022

Random engine hesitancy reducing acceleration while driving. Vehicle maintained by the dealer for all scheduled maintenance and service visits. Within 30 days of a manufacture's repair that dealt with the hvac and air filter and a service visit to change oil and rotate tires, the hesitancy during driving was more pronounced. The dealer's service center stated the air filter was flooded from an hvac leak and a clog. I have found similar owners have had problems like this and vw will not address it systemically. I otherwise enjoy my vehicle, but am concerned that it will not accelerate when needed and is potentially dangerous without warning. It should not take loss of life or property to have this corrected.

9 Equipment problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 02/05/2022

There was a big rain last week locally. I drove through a couple big puddles but nothing that's super uncommon for the area. Almost immediately, my car's electric components started going crazy. Acc stopped working completely. Lane assists aren't working. There was an error that I think was shift lock, but it was red, and the car was driving really weird.

10 Equipment problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 09/10/2021

The sunroof glass of the car spontaneously exploded while driving on the interstate. No rock or object ever hit the glass, and it exploded, sending glass and debris all over myself and my passenger while driving 70mph. The noise was deafening and caused me to swerve as I was so shocked. I easily could have gone in the ditch or hit another car. To make matters worse I was 50 miles from home on a Friday evening so there was no way to get help. I have seen this issue on other Touareg’s but Volkswagen has denied accountability and refuses to cover it. The issue was repaired at a vw dealer and was $2143 to repair. The issue was inspected by my progressive insurance rep. This issue came out of nowhere and there were no warning signs.

11 Equipment problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 07/26/2021

My 2010 vw Touareg tdi 3. 0 have 2 service campaign 23r3 and 26k2 which is commonly known for vw tdi diesel scandal. I took my car to vw they said they will replace the catalytic converts and knox sensors. And the ad blue box. Today I got a call stating that my car will not get a catalytic converter that's epa compliant. And they can only do computer software and replce 2 glow plugs out of the 6 and that's cant be done before I replace a knox sensor which is the service campaign is for then when the check engine light is off I can take it back to vvw to replace the parts and program the computer. Or pay then $900 for that sensor.

12 Equipment problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

My sunroof is not draining properly, water is accumulating in my spare tire well in my trunk whenever it rains.

13 Equipment problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

I recently purchased a 2017 vw Touareg sport. Water is entering the air filter compartment. If water enters the engine it will shut down the car possibly in traffic causing a very hazardous situation, in addition the engine will be destroyed. The vehicle is like new and 100% factory equipped. This is a flaw in design. I became aware of the situation while changing the air filter. After researching the clubtouareg forum many people are having the same complaint. There is a class action suit over the issue. . Read more...

14 Equipment problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 07/18/2019

With family in vehicle the car lost power and stalled during a rain storm. Car was not able to restart and was on side of road for length of time after attempting to restart. Car restarted and the idle was rough and kept hesitating was not able to get vehicle above 15 mph. Vehicle was towed to local dealer could not identify problem added f fuel additive. Upon driving home problem occurred again losing power while in motion and driving above 30 mph vehicle stalled and loss of power causing an unsafe situation. I returned to the vw dealer and they brought it back into the shop where they verified the issue. They contacted me today explaining there was water in the sealed intake that caused the engine to stall. They will be performing tests for engine damage and verify severity of issue. Upon investigation I have found similar design flaws in the 2017 vw Touareg as reports and claims have been made. Their is also a recall for this problem in vw china. Having a vehicle stall in the rain due to an issue with water entering the air box is truly dangerous and a safety concern for my well being and family.

15 Equipment problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 06/29/2019

During a rain storm and with my wife driving on a busy neighborhood throughway our 2016 vw Touareg lost all power from the engine and power steering. She was forced to stop on the side of the road and push the car to safety. Upon research we learned about a problem with water getting into the air filter and subsequently into the motor. The next day, after the rain cleared I unlatched the air filter and found water pouring out of the filter box and had completely saturated the air filter to that of a soaking wet sponge. I have towed the Touareg to the dealership and am awaiting the diagnostics. How could such a simple flaw remain such a major issue with out any action from Volkswagen? I only hope I do not have to pay for a new motor just because we drove in a daily summertime florida rain storm.

16 Equipment problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 06/18/2019

2016 Volkswagen toureg (VIN # xxxxxx) purchased 5/25/2019. Vroom assured all vehicles undergo rigorous inspection and written guarantee of a clean title / no flood damage. The vehicle was delivered on 6/17/2019. On 6/18/2019 the vehicle was taken to a mechanic for a standard prepurchase inspection. I paid $150. 64 for this service. The inspection report returned several areas of internal rust in the vehicle that would only be caused by sitting in water for extended amount of time, as well as other conditions clearly indicative of flood damage. The vehicle also had visible rust on the interior of all four wheels, which is obvious indicator of a flooded vehicle. We contacted the company on 6/19/2019 to let them our intention to return the vehicle and provided a copy of the inspection report. We had no issue returning the vehicle as we were well within the 7 day return policy (can return the vehicle within 7 days for any reason). We spoke to multiple individuals during the return process, as each step required a different department. Ultimately, the vehicle was picked up by vroom and we spoke to an individual over the phone to go over the return process and issue our refund. The contact we spoke to indicated that they did not find the vehicle damaged, and stated they would list the reason for the return as preference (allowing them to sell this damaged vehicle to someone else). The reason for this complaint is to have a record of that this vehicle, VIN # (xxxxxx) has been damaged by water and is now being attempted to be sold as a clean titled car to an unsuspecting consumer. As of 7/15/2019, this vehicle is currently listed for sale by vroom in stafford, TX. Redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Equipment problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 04/10/2019

2013 Touareg 3. 0l tdi-intermittent jerking motion of vehicle when in motion, initially at lower speed and now at 80mph on highway, intense jerking of vehicle causing vehicle to lose power and near collision with vehicle behind me. It has become more frequent, almost daily occurrence now. I took the vehicle in immediately to vw dealership. Paperwork states "road test verified concern" (of jerky motion and not running right). "scanned for faults. No faults stored. No tsbs, or tech tips regarding concern. Seems to be a software issue with no remedy at this time". The dealership advised me that this is a software bug in the emissions software fix and that vw has not submitted a technical service bulletin (TSB) to open an investigation for fix. They said that there is nothing they can do to fix the problem. There is another customer with exact issue as mine. I am told that vw is not communicating any information on this issue but it is acknowledged that this is a software issue brought on by the emissions fix. The vehicle is not driveable with this issue! the jerking motion is extremely unsafe to be driven at any speed, extremely unsafe on the highway from my last experience with near collision when unpredictable, sudden, intense jerking motion occurred. Symptom: vehicle loses power briefly, like it's choking, then regains causing a forward thrust followed by another power loss. . . Causing the jerking motion. Dealership claims there may not be enough complaints filed according to vw corporate to initiate a TSB. This vehicle is not driveable, not safe. Even one complaint should initiate cause for concern to resolve the issue or buy back the vehicle if this is caused by the emissions software fix. Vehicle has always been serviced by a vw dealership on recommended scheduled service intervals.

18 Equipment problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

Since the tdi fix I have experienced two incidents of power loss and then the activation of the check engine light. The 1st incident occurred in my driveway at a slow speed. The loss of power was for a short period of time. Vw called it a glitch not related to the tdi fix, and reset the check engine light. The 2nd incident occurred 33 days later on a surface street. I was in traffic at 40 mph and the car had a rapid drop in speed. I pushed the accelerator to the floor which resulted in a slow acceleration. Full power restored in about a mile of "limp it" to work driving. Later the same day the issue returned and the dpf light came on and made the car undriveable. I feel the tdi fix has made my car unsafe to drive. Since the fix I've had 3 check engine light warnings in 10 months. I'm thankful my recent power loss did not occur on the freeway. Its a tragedy waiting to happen. My car is currently in the shop awaiting repairs.

19 Equipment problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 02/02/2019

I was driving my car the day after a rainy day in florida and water was ingested into my car's air filter and then into the engine. This caused major and expensive engine damages. I had not driven through any deep puddles. Vw fixed the vehicle (for $4321. 99). I later researched this issue and found many similar complaints online and learned that there is a vw recall for this same problem in china, but not the u. S. It has to do with a faulty drainage system design, which vw has officially acknowledged. The issue is a global one, however, not just a problem in china. I purchased my car only 3 months ago, certified and with a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty, which didn't cover any of the damages, because they were from an "external" source. Vw should be held accountable for fixing this problem everywhere. They are benefiting financially from people like me who are still buying their cars and then having to pay huge repair bills for a design problem that they have known about for a long time. When the problem occurred, the engine check lights came on, the car slowed to a crawl (I was on a highway) and the car jerked violently. Luckily, I was able to limp the vehicle into the nearest vw repair shop.

20 Equipment problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/31/2019

Why can't my machines find exhaust system pipes from the catalytic to the back end?.

21 Equipment problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/17/2019

Takata recall for airbag dash light on. Also, check 'engine light' for diesel def heating element fault. Both lights appeared when starting the vehicle/stationary and have remained on ever since.

22 Equipment problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

When I'm driving and its raining, water comes pouring down into the vehicle, and it is not coming from the sunroof. It seems to be leaking from the electrical component area above. Also the parking break lever broke off when I tried to release it. When I did release the break with the lever, it did not release it. I had to literally pull on the parking break pedal that releases the parking break. Therefore, I cannot use the parking break by any means.

23 Equipment problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 08/10/2018

On August 10, 2018 at approximately 1:30 pm in bountiful utah, I was turning left into a business. I stopped on a steep hill and allowed the on coming traffic to pass. It then became safe for me to complete my turn. That is until the car hesitated yet again. This hesitation problem is severe post repair of vw due to emissions recall. Fortunately the oncoming driver slowed down allowing me to enter the business; however, this hesitation is beyond dangerous. I have communicated with the local vw dealership and the regional office but to no avail. The safety of this vehicle has been adversely impacted by this recall!.

24 Equipment problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 08/06/2018

Sunroof is leaking and creates condensation and mold inside the car. I have taken it to the dealership for repair and they performed a cleaning. Couple a weeks after I have discovered the sunroof is leaking again and contact the dealership again. They claimed they only cleaned the pipes but now they need to seal the pipe. At the same time I was there the dealer mentioned he is swamped with vw cars with the same exact problem with sunroof leaking and he is backed up. This appears to be a widespread problem with all vw cars and not just my model. The design of the draining system for the sunroof is faulty and create water penetration. I have researched this extensively and spoke with a few dealerships and it appears to have been a wide spread problem with vw sunroof.

25 Equipment problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 08/05/2018

Sunroof exploded outward and entire front glass sunroof was shattered. Driving on highway at approximately 70mph. All car door windows were open. Tempurature outside was approximately 85 degrees.

26 Equipment problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 07/23/2018

The Touareg made some rattling noise while I was driving at 35 mph. As soon I stopped and made it my destination and turned off the car the car wouldn't start up. I took it to the dealership and the dealership couldn't figure out why the car wouldn't start. Finally, after a well over a week, they determined that I needed to replace all six fuel injectors. The fuel injectors got replaced now the car turns on but as soon as you step on the gas the car dies.

27 Equipment problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 07/23/2018

After a rainy night, got into my car the next morning heard a weird noise while pulling out of driveway, drove down the street and car starting bucking, white smoke coming out back and lost control of the car. . . No power steering, no brakes car died. This is the second time this happened to me, it happen 9 months prior. Had roadside service pick up car and bring to service. Called service the next morning and was accused of driving my car through water and the car filters got wet and possible water now in the engine. Vw would not be responsible! I never drove in standing water, this happened after a rainy night of my car sitting on my flat driveway. There is something wrong with this car and is completely unsafe to drive after rain or in the rain.

28 Equipment problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 07/20/2018

The ac evaporation valve is blocked and there is between 2-5 cups of dirty contaminated water coming into my driver side and passenger foot well. It has now become a problem more than water damage and a concern because my shoes get wet and make the pedals slick and unsafe at times while driving. I just don't want anyone to get hurst or crash because of this issue that should be recalled and fixed. I know it's happened to other vw/Audi/Porsche cars.

29 Equipment problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

Sunroof exploded while parked in driveway. The explosion was upwards. The car has a panoramic roof and the front sliding section is the one that exploded. No rock chip or other impact to roof. This is a 2016 but purchased "new" on 1/8/18 following vw diesel 3. 0 fix and court authorization to sell.

30 Equipment problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 10/23/2017

I would like to know if my car is part of the recall cars.

31 Equipment problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 09/14/2017

Some weeks ago, the tv news reported a recall for my vehicle. I have had no other notification. I have lived here for 51 years and haven't changed my phone number. What is most disturbing is that your website knows nothing about this!!! besides cashing your paycheck, what else do you do to justify breathing???.

32 Equipment problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 03/07/2017

My diesel vw Touareg needs the nox sensor replaced. Why is this not considered part of the warranty for the emissions system ? sinde the epa has designated the vw diesels must be either buyback or replaced/repaired it seems apparent that this sensor is just as important to the function of the emissions system but it is not a covered part. This part is very expensive and functions along with the ad-blue pump which is covered.

33 Equipment problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 02/22/2017

The vehicle was stationary and had been parked all day (8+ hours). Upon trying to start it would not turn over and then backfired and the intake manifold exploded. The car smoked.

34 Equipment problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 12/09/2016

While driving the vehicle the engine stuttered and the check engine light came on. I pulled into a firestone dealer and ran a diagnosis. Test revealed a problem with the timing chain. I called harper vw in knoxville and was advised to bring it in. Dealer had to replace the timing chain at a cost of $6,500. Vehicle had 78,000 miles timing chain should last the life of the vehicle. If the chain had completely separated the engine would have quit suddenly creating a serous traffic problem. Research has shown that vw has known about the problem on hundreds of cars with this engine and has not issued a recall or safety warning.

35 Equipment problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 11/13/2016

The door locks on both of the back doors have stopped working. Can not open either of the rear doors. This problem was not caused by any specific event that we know of. First one door stopped working and about a week later the other door stopped working. I would not be surprised if the other doors failed soon.
