36 Equipment problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 05/24/2016

Since I purchased my 2016 Touareg tdi in September 2015. The steering wheel vibration has become quite an issue as it is getting worse the longer I drive it. I have had it road tested, wheels balance tires rotated on three different occasions and it continues to vibrate at the steering. I have only 4000 miles on the odometer. The vibration begins around 45-50 mph. It does not matter what type of surface. I called vw of America they set up another appointment with my local dealership. Not only is this vibration wrong it is also a safety issue which can result in excessive tire wear, and possibly a blow out causing an accident.

38 Equipment problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 04/11/2015

Om April 11, 2015, I was returning from a day at the mall with my mother and children in the car. I entered a 35 mile per hour zone and reduced my speed accordingly. My car started making a loud rumbling sound that was coming from under the car. We first thought a tire had blown out. We pulled over, got out and checked the car and all of the tires were fine. We pulled back on to the road and didn't hear the sound again until my speed reached 25 miles per hour, then the loud rumbling started again. I was almost at my mom's house so we made it to the house and I called a tow truck to tow the car to my mechanic. My mechanic contacted me on Monday morning 4/13/15 and let me know that something exploded in the driveshaft of the car and the whole driveshaft assembly needed to be replaced. He indicated it was unusual for this type of problem to happen on a vehicle with 87,766 miles on it. He also indicated that he found it strange that when he contacted the local Volkswagen dealer, they actually had a driveshaft in stock. He indicated that this type of part was not a common repair and would usually be a part that would need to be ordered. The vehicle cost $1400. 00 to repair. I took pictures of the defective driveshaft which show where the piece exploded from the driveshaft. I have access to a company car for my daily work and my office is located 5 miles from my house. I drive my personal car very little and keep it in top shape. I did research online after this incident and found that there are other accounts of people talking about their driveshafts for their Touaregs going bad around 80,000 miles. I am reporting this in hopes there is a trend that can be looked into. This was a dangerous car issue and I purchased the Touareg because I wanted a safe SUV to transport my daughters in. Now I am nervous about the overall safety of this vehicle.

39 Equipment problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 02/04/2015

Purchased vehicle on 2/1/15. I noticed when driving at speeds above 63 mph the steering wheel shakes back and forth which is felt through the steering wheel, seat & front end. I opened a case with vw on about 2/11/15 and made an appointment with my local vw service department for 2/16/15. On 2/16/15 the vw dealer made a repair which helped reduce the sws, but it did not go away. I made another appointment for 2/23/15 for them to revisit this problem. For the second appointment the service department stated they didn't detect any shaking of the steering wheel. I picked the vehicle up and found the steering wheel was still shaking at speeds above 63 mph. I returned to the dealership (same day) and took the service advisor with me on a test drive. I demonstrated the steering wheel shake and he acknowledged it. He stated they may not be able to get rid of it. I left the vehicle with the dealership for them to work on it more. The service department swapped wheels with another Touareg and it still had the steering wheel shaking problem. I picked the vehicle up and this problem still persists.

41 Equipment problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 11/14/2014

At road speeds, 65-75 mph, the steering wheel has a vibration, and all parts (dash, seats etc) vibrate. If you take your hands off wheel, it will visibly shake. Vehicle has been in shop for over two weeks combined with the following repairs to no avail. On lift over two days with 60 psi in tires-did not fix it. Road forced all tires and wheels,-did not fix it. New set of tires of different manufacturer-did not fix it. Car still vibrates. Dealer said it was ok, but still vibrates.

42 Equipment problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

My 2009 vw Touareg tdi experienced a failure of the reductant pump for the diesel emission fluid system (def. ) researching failure rates of this system has shown a very high failures of this system in the vw Touareg and passat clean diesel application for model year 2009 and newer. Proposed solution to reduce crystallization and clogging of system has resulted in 3 service revisions, with the most recent calling for removal and replacement of the entire system (tank, pump, line and injector) at a cost of $1,5000. Vw will not cover any costs or issue a recall. This same system and parts are used in the Ford f350 and Chevrolet duramax clean diesel applications with similarly high failure rates to the best of my knowledge all light duty clean diesel manufacturers are experiencing a failure of this system with no recall or coverage against future failure. It is apparent that the supplier of the def system used in common light duty vehicles manufactured faulty parts on multiple vehicles. The manufacturers of these vehicles have records of the failure rates and can demonstrate that the system has been faulty, which results in non compliance of federal emissions standards. What steps can be taken to investigate this and provide a long term solution?.

45 Equipment problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 05/25/2012

On several occasions the key can not be removed from the ignition. You stop the vehicle , place it in park and the key can not be removed. I view this as a safety and security hazard, there have been times when we have had to stop and start the car several times for the key to be removed. A search on line will show several other people reporting this problem, some use a paper clip to remove the key. Others warn of a battery drain and state the key can not be removed if the batter us drained which makes me think this is an electrical problem. Others have also posted you tube videos of not being able to remove the key. . Read more...

46 Equipment problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/20/2011

At highway speeds, 60-75mph, the steering wheel shakes dramatically. Dealer re-balanced, still shook. Dealer replaced eagle ls2's at 32k miles with same tires and road-force balanced. . . Still shook. Based on others with same problem, I recommened they try gy latitudes. . . Along with road-force balance and nitro fill, shaking has been gone for past 15k miles. But this is a repeatable event on flat/smooth road surfaces, at speed. Many dealers apparently unable to correct, based on feedback at various Touareg fan sites (vw vortex, club Touareg, etc. ) seems to impact tdi lux (my trim) more than others, from 2011-2013.

47 Equipment problem of the 2005 Volkswagen Touareg

Passenger airbag warning light on dash shows airbag will not deploy in a crash. Transmission jumps, lunges, has done this since 2009. The dealer states it needs replacing. Should be replaced by Volkswagen.

49 Equipment problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 02/12/2005

The Touareg has two defcts that will eventually lead to if they have not caused damge. For months I have tried to get vw to fix the defective tail light faults and warnings due to the installation of the tow hitch. Vw claims these issues are related to all trailers. Additionally, this vehicle has a defective drivers windsghield wiper that causes obscured visability. Both are dangerous and vw claims noraml operation. I am frusterated and in disbelief that vw will not correct the vehicles issues. I am writting in an attempt to represent the people against this vehicle manufacture.
