The contact owns a 2000 Volvo S80. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. Upon restart the contact was able to continue driving but the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle would also would not respond when pressure was applied to the accelerator pedal. The failures occurred intermittently until the vehicle would not longer start at all. The failure mileage was 130,000 and the current mileage was 136,000.
While stopping or turning at low speeds the cars idle speed will fluctuate from a complete stop up to 1100 rpms. Most of the time between 500 & 1100 rpms ! when the car stops running while I am trying to turn a corner , the power steering of coarse does not work and its hard to steer it. I did take it to a Volvo dealer, & they said it needed a new throttle sensor & computer software change, & it would cost me $2400. I can't find out if any of the recalls have ever been done #r155, r146, NHTSA I. D. #626114 & I. D. #10018801. The previous owner had the car for three years & did not receive and recalls notices. Most of the time the car runs fine, I have driven it over 40,000 miles now with the check eng. Light on & off. The check engine light will stay on for a day or too & go off for three or four days at a time. I would really like to know if any of the recalls have ever been done to this car.
Vehicle stalled while driving. The consumer was able to restart the vehicle and pulled over to shut down the vehicle. Consumer noticed that the check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. The consumer drove it to the dealer, and the mechanic determined that the computer system, and other parts of engine needed to be replaced.
The check engine light continue to come on with a message emmision syustem require inspection . Volvo gwinnett place had supposedly repaired it at least three times with the latest being October 2. Only to have the light come on again October 3. We will return the car on October 5th. Mr.
While driving, check engine light illuminated, dealer placed vehicle on diagnostic machine and a code would appear stating the gas cap was not put on tight enough, dealer has had to reset the computer several times due to the light illuminating, consumer states that the light comes on 3 or 4 days after fueling.
