My drivers side door latch will no longer open from the inside or the outside. I have to climb across to the passenger side and go out the opposite door. I am reporting this because this vehicle is part of the Volvo "p3" platform which includes the s60, and they had a huge recall to replace all the door latch mechanisms for this exact reason.

Sub frame cracking due to rust.
The stock oem windshield has come away from the body. This a common on-going issue with p3 Volvos. My car leaks water into the cabin. It is dangerous not having a windshield glued down to the body.

The sub frame located near the front exhaust has premature rust and corrosion to the point there are holes in the frame.
Excessive rust is forming on my front subframe and in some places has rusted completely through. Small perferations were noticed at repair facility and I was told that it will need to be replaced. It cannot be welded/repaired. This is a known problem with the 2007-2010 Volvo S80 v8 which Volvo refuses to recall and will be an extremely costly repair. It also makes the car unsafe to drive should the repair not be made.

Excessive rust is forming on my front subframe and in some places has rusted completely through. I have a silver dollar sized hole through it and it will need to be replaced. This is a known problem with the 2007-2010 Volvo S80 v8 which Volvo refuses to recall and will be an extremely costly repair. It also makes the car unsafe to drive and I could also not pass inspection in PA for this kind of damage.
My car is extremely clean and well taken care of. But just like every single Volvo S80, specifically the v8 model there is a rust hole in the subframe. This is because Volvo put the exhaust too close to the subframe and the heat from the v8 eats away the paint and causes it to rust.

The front subframe of my vehicle was found to be unsafe by the Volvo dealer in my area. Corrosion had greatly deteriorated parts of the frame which supports the front suspension, steering and engine. I was told that replacement was the only option to avoid a potentially catastrophic failure while driving. Close examination revealed significant loss of structural integrity of the subframe. Volvo service staff told me this was a common problem for this model S80 v8.
The exhaust for the car is routed within inches of the subframe which does not have a heat shield. The paint has since deteriorated and large rust holes have formed.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Volvo S80. While driving, the contact noticed a large amount of air entering the vehicle. She pulled the vehicle over and noticed that the front exterior driver's side door panel, the windshield, and the roof were becoming detached. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 153,808.

The passenger door continues to open at highway speeds. I have the option for doors to lock when car begins to move. The lock remains "locked" however door opens with interior lights and dashboard warning. I have contacted Volvo to no end. . . I see a multitude of door opening issues on Volvo forum sites, and mechanic states common problem with Volvo.

On November 9th my wife was driving our 2001 Volvo S80 to church. She parked the car but it began to move. It accelerated and she wound up driving into a tree to avoid hitting other cars. She was also worried that children from the school might be around. The car was in park. The engine was off. The emergency break was on. The steering wheel was tight, making it difficult to steer since the engine was off. The church secretary observed the incident. She saw smoke coming out of the back of the car which would indicate the emergency break was on. When she first reached the car with my wife in it she noted that the car was in park.

This car don't have any gauges only the gas no engine temperature or light if I'm in traffic the car stop because is got no gauge I don't know the temperature also no spare tire only came with a pump but. That only work whit small hole now the engine temperature is a big issue because the engine is so big overheat and the car shut down now I m in the middle of the freeway I talk with Volvo about this issue many. Times finally they say they will give me 20 dollars in parts to fix the problem I have see in the inter net alot of people whit the same problem. As I was driving I heard a bang and saw smoke coming from underneath and behind the passenger seat and quickly fire spreading throughout the back of the vehicle. The rear window blew out. The car would not stop as I drove the vehicle off the street. I had to throw myself out of the vehicle. The entire vehicle was inflamed and exploded.
