Brake Disc Rotor problems of the 1998 Volvo V70

Three problems related to brake disc rotor have been reported for the 1998 Volvo V70. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2006

: the contact stated the pads and calipers came into contact with the rotors. The rear pads, rotors and calipers were replaced three times. The front pads, rotors and calipers were replaced twice. Prior to each replacement, the brakes made a loud squeaking sound and the front and rear end shook when the brakes were applied. Currently the brakes made a loud squeaking noise and the front end shook when the brakes were applied. The dealership was notified.

2 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2000

Both rear rotors have been replaced 5 times in one year due to excessive wear. Starting with the 2000 models Volvo changed to larger rotors.

3 Brake Disc Rotor problem

The rotors warped in less than 23,000 miles see additional documentation attached from the internet multiple instances reported by others as well.
