I have a 1998 Volvo V70 xc. The srs light keeps coming on- I have it tested and 2 or 3 times I was told everything checks out ok it just needs to be reset but within a few days or weeks it is back on again. Other times the sensor codes indicated the rear seat belt sensor was bad, the drivers entire seatbelt mechanism was bad and they were replaced. But again the light comes back on within a short period of time. My understanding is that if the srs light is on the airbags will not deploy - is this correct? I have been told it may be that the main computer for the airbag system that is bad. If that is the case, is it possible that all fo the other error codes /replacements were incorrect/unnecessary? I have been told by my mechanic that he has ha a lot of similar problems with Volvos especially V70 in this model year range, but that there has been no recall.

My entiire transmission failed and had to be replaced by the manufacturer. My turbo has now failed and warranty recently expired. The current quote is $1000. 00 or more to repair this. The airbag did not deploy on 2 occasions when it should have. The dealership refused to check it because it was too expensive. When I bought the car at 7500 miles, the antenna motor was broken. My salesperson told me they would repair it on my next service appointment. This promise was not honored, they later claimed that was my fault and not covered under warranty. This seems like a lot of problems for a car of this caliber. I am extremely dissappointed with Volvo service and quality. I had a Honda for 7 years and never had problems like these. I will go back to Honda now.
