I have intermittent failure of the dipped beams in my 2001 Volvo V70 t5. I see an error report on the dash: bulb failure. Dipped beams. But there is nothing wrong with my bulbs. There is an electrical problem that is totally unpredictable leading to loss of low beams. Volvo service managers say they don't know what causes the problem. Am I the only person to report this defect? it started about 2 years ago in the winter of 2003 but is now more regular but not always.
I am very concerned about the very poor quality of illumination provided by the headlights, particularly the low beam, of my 2004 Volvo V70r. If I drive on a highway with oncoming traffic such that I can not use my high beams I will be overdriving my low beams at any speed over 30 mph. I have already been back to the dealer in bellingham, wa to have adjustment, but to no help. Worst headlights I have ever had on a car. And these are hid special lights!!!.

Headlight switch malfunctioned. Daytime running lights were not working in the second position. In the third position headlights and interior lights were suppose to come on. However, the headlights came on, but dashboard lights did not come on. If the switch was between position 2 and 3 interior lights came on. This was not the normal position for the lights to operate.

For our 1998 Volvo V70 xc awd, there was a recall in Nov 1999 (99v235/Volvo recall no. 94). When our headlight switch suddenly disassembled on the interstate at night in mid-September, leaving the car without a single visible light, I had to reassemble it and hold it together to reach home. We checked with our dealer the next day. The computer records showed that the switch recall had already been done for our car, so I bought another switch. As I looked closely at the switch that was removed, I realized I was looking at the recalled switch, still in the car four years after the recall date. Volvo USA authorized the local dealer (not the one who claimed to have done the recall) to refund me the price of the switch. No one seems interested in the incorrect reporting of a recall completion when, in fact, the work was not done, leaving the car unsafe. The dealership reporting the recall completion was leikin Volvo, 38750 mentor avenue, willoughby, OH, 44094. Are there other references to skipped recalls involving this dealership?.

I was recently told my 2001 v79xc needed ball joints, then sway bars and someone else said struts! also: I have had the car diagnosed, the system reported throttle module errors and electircal or circuit problems; throttle module cleaned, then replaced; headlights replaced 3 times (wiring causes shorts); gas filter replaced two junes in a row gas propelled out of the tank back at me upon pumping (something about air intake line was clogged), the brackets underneath the car are totally rusted not stainless steel! I had the cooling fan replaced, car overheated into the red! I too have had little time to enjoy my car. The e brake sticks in the winter, because the coating on the lines/cables is cracked, broken/burned due to improper suspension. My sun roof, interior lights and rear hatch door works intermittently in cold weather. The glove compartment was rattling loudly and the dealer I bought it from tried to fix it and told me I had to live with it! of course another dealership fixed it outright. The seatbelt frequently sticks and doesnt take up the slack intermittently only to get shut in the drivers door frequently, when I just about think it has corrected itself. And, there is a strange draft on the front passenger side window that gets quite cold in the winter. The seal seems fine and its another problem no shop seems to know anything about.
Bulb failed and bulb failure warning light came on on way home from dealership. We returned to dealership and they said they were not aware of any problems with this component on this model. They attempted to repair but were not able to repair because they did not have a service technician on site. They offered another car but we declined. Signal has been intermittent since the first incident.
While driving with headlights on. Then, activated turn signal lights, and light on dash panel will blink fast, and let consumer know to change the light bulbs. Also, battery will die without a reason for it.
Consumer has had driver's side headlight changed 4 times. Dealer has never said what the cause of the problem was, they just change it.
