1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Volvo V70

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

The contact owns a 2002 Volvo V70. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle started spot fueling and lost power shortly afterwards. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road where the contact noticed that the vehicle was leaking fuel from the top of the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic (barret auto. In alpine, al) where the technician diagnosed that the flange inside the tank was defective. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and hung up on the contact after stating that a recall was performed in 2010. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 172,000.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 1998 Volvo V70

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

This particular model has a problem with fuel tanks cracking. It isn't happening to the ones that aren't all wheel drive. I need mine replaced. People are apprehensive about pulling a used tank from a yard because it might also be cracked. I was told the all wheel drive system built around it is putting pressure on it.

The gas tank pump and seals have begun leaking gas due to cracks in the plastic and seals. Gas leaks down the side of the gas tank onto the ground and there are gas fumes in the car.
