The contact owns a 2004 Volvo V70 cross country. He could not release his six year old child from the passenger rear seat belt. 2002 V70 malfunctioned in rear seat belts in my car. Two of the three seat belts in the rear of the vehicle locked and could not be released. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer disassembled the rear seats and manually eased the locked seat belts. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure and believed that it would rec. As the technician eased the locked seat belt and alarm chimed on the dash which said srs air bag service urgent.

I have a 2001 Volvo V70 xc wagon. The car was revving high for a while when shifting gears, I took it to the dealership, and they told me there wasn't a problem. About a month or so later the etm failed. I was being left stranded at freeway off ramps, and green lights when the car would suddenly die. It's a miracle I wasn't rear-ended! after a terrible experience trying to get the dealership to honor the etm warranty, (they only cleaned the etm they did not replace it-saying it wasn't bad enough!), a month has passed and now my transmission has failed! the dealership gave me a $5300 estimate for replacement as it is unrepairable! I took it to our regular mechanic, and he told me the transmission failure @ 70,000 miles happened because the etm wouldn't allow the torque converter do whatever it is a torque converter does, and that caused the oil to heat up and then the resulting transmission failure. He said there is no one around who will touch my transmission. I have to use a dealer to replace it. I am completely devastated and cannot afford to replace the transmission. The car is a lemon. It has almost caused me to be involved in accidents, and I'd really appreciate it if someone could contact me about what resources I have. You are welcome to test my car! I have read on the internet about others who are experiencing the same problems with their etms and then subsequent transmission failures. Please help!.

New Volvo V70 wagon. Tested laying rear seats down to increase cargo space. Right rear belt would not extend and was locked in a retracted position after the seat was layed down and restored to it's original operating position. This seat and belt were not suitable for occupancy as the seat belt would not function. Car was returned to Volvo for repairs. Unknown type of repair at this time. Phone interview update (oct 11, 2005): the failure is internal to the retractor and not cause by interference with the seat. Purchased the vehicle while traveling oversea in sweden. Vehicle is being repaired and is scheduled to ship to u. S. By this week. The consumer agree to fax the technical report or repair invoice when it becomes available. His son's 2005 vw jetta rear seat belt does the same thing.

In late February 2005, my wife noticed that the child seats in our 1998 Volvo V70 would loosen up when our children would get in or move in their seats. These child seats were of the stationary type and of different makes. As one of the rear outboard seat belts had already been replaced at no charge for a similar concern in June 2003, we visited our regional Volvo dealership to report the issue. New belt assemblies were ordered and on March 15th of this year, both outer rear seat belts were replaced. This time, since we had to pay for the repair, I retrieved the failed parts. Examination of both seat belts buckles seem to suggest that the failure of the belts' child seat locking tab, which is part of the buckle, prevented the child seat from staying securely held in position. These assemblies are available for you to analyze and draw an expert conclusion. We requested a review of the problem by the district service manager and filed an e-mail complaint with Volvo's customer assistance center. The VIN of the car is yv1lw5584w3468600.
