The front passenger seat belt locks up. When pulled out it will not go back in causing the passenger not to be able to wear a seat belt. I think it might be the seat belt retractor I would like to have it fixed I believe it is a safety issue and I am looking for this to be covered for replacement and for file:///var/mobile/library/sms/attachments/65/05/312f1483-f6ed-4a2b-8fef-893294d0e482/img_4244. The driver's side seatbelt does not roll smoothly either being pulled out or allowed to retract. When you pull out or release to return the driver's side seatbelt, it catches in the bottom of the slot in the side post where it curves forward so that it either won't come out far enough to latch, or if you can pull it out and insert it in the latch, it sticks when you let it go so that it stays slack and does not retract to keep the belt tight. Even if you manage to get it out and properly inserted, it will not retract when released. . The belt has to be kept up in the highest part pf the slot in the post that it comes out of, or is retracted back into, with my left hand while being pulled out or allowed to retract, or else it gets stuck in the bottom of the slot. . It is not safe. Even if properly clicked in, you could not count on it to retract tightly if there is a collision or sudden stop.

"takata recall" I was driving east bound on arlington blvd in virginia and proceeded to stop on a yellow light when a car driving over 55 mph hit my 2002 Volvo from the rear and my vehicle spun out of control and hit another car front/side from the west bound intersection in the 3rd lane coming the opposite side and all cars was total. My seatbelt and airbag didn't save me from going forward or deploying. I was injured and still seeking medical attention after October 17, 2017 with 2 black eyes, broke teeth, whip lash, neck, knees and back injury. The car is still at beyers collision in alexandria virginia.

2 separate seat belt latches/catches on different seats have failed on my 2003 Volvo xc70 since March of 2009. In both instances, the problem was discovered and repaired under normal circumstances. There was no accident or collision associated with the failures. I find it very strange that 2 different seat belt catch assemblies would fail on the same car. I will be submitting separate complaints for each incident, as they happened on different dates to different parts. December 2010 - driver seat belt catch assembly did not work; seat belt would not connect. On December 22, 2010 dealer confirmed catch assembly not operating correctly and replaced with a new part - part #9191817. Seat belt has been working fine since repair. The repair was not covered under warranty or recall. I paid for the repair out of my own pocket. In the event of an accident, the results could have been fatal, if the proper repairs were not made.

The contact owns a 1998 Volvo V70. The contact stated the rear seat belt became lodged and could not be used. The contact attempted to repair the failure himself but was unsuccessful. The manufacturer advised the vehicle warranty was expired and would not offer any further assistance. The seat belt remained lodged for over three months. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000 and the current mileage was 143,000.

March 2009 - passenger rear outer seat belt catch assembly did not work; seat belt would not connect. On March 11, 2009 dealer deemed the seat belt catch assembly defective and replaced with a new part - part #9191997. Seat belt has been working fine since repair. Drivers side seatbelt won't retract.
We have a 2001 V70 t5 Volvo wagon. We bought the car new, and when it was about 1 year old the receptacle of the safety belt which latched in my son's car seat cracked straight down the middle. I only discovered it when I was checking the base of his infant car seat to make sure it was still tight. Volvo repaired the receptacle for free, as the car was under warranty. The car is now seven years old, and it has happened again, with a different seat belt receptacle, also in the back seat. There seems to me to be something fundamentally wrong about seat belt receptacles splitting in half from routine use. That it has happened twice in this seven year old car strikes me as suspicious. Thank you for your concern.
Front seat belts on vehicle have problems. Since purchase, both front (driver & passenger) seatbelts are overly sticky, and often cannot be pulled out of harness when vehicle is parked, in order to put seatbelts on. This is particularly true on even the slightest grade. In other words unless vehicle is parked on a totally flat surface (rare on actual streets) seatbelts will often stay retracted or are extremely difficult to extract. I often have to drive to a flatter location in order to put my seatbelt on. (drive without seatbelts in order to get to a place where belts can be put on. )
once on, the seatbelts lock up and pin driver and/or passenger to the seat with even the slightest movement, e. G. To adjust radio. (I know this is supposed to happen with hard braking, etc, but it is happening with the slightest movements. )
I have reported the problem to the dealer on 4 occasions, and each time have been told the problem is "normal" for the V70 and the s60. In other words this is a design flaw. Other Volvos aren't like this. My wife has an 2007 xc90 and the seatbelts do not behave as above. As is, the seatbelt design on my car could lead to accidents or fatalities, as people may choose to not wear them, or may simply not be able to put the belts on when vehicle is parked, before driving.

1998 Volvo V70a experienced problems with the drivers side shoulder harness. The shoulder harness was frayed. One would have to pull the seat belt to unlock and then pull it down which caused it to wear.
I have a 1998 Volvo V70 xc. The srs light keeps coming on- I have it tested and 2 or 3 times I was told everything checks out ok it just needs to be reset but within a few days or weeks it is back on again. Other times the sensor codes indicated the rear seat belt sensor was bad, the drivers entire seatbelt mechanism was bad and they were replaced. But again the light comes back on within a short period of time. My understanding is that if the srs light is on the airbags will not deploy - is this correct? I have been told it may be that the main computer for the airbag system that is bad. If that is the case, is it possible that all fo the other error codes /replacements were incorrect/unnecessary? I have been told by my mechanic that he has ha a lot of similar problems with Volvos especially V70 in this model year range, but that there has been no recall.
I have had several failures of the child restraint system. A switch on the seat belt allows tesion to remain in the lap section of the seat belt. This tension secures child seats into the car by preventing motion. The entire force on this restraint (in the lap section) is transferred thru a small section of plastic which can crack and break easily. Without tension in the lap section of the belt, child safety seats are not firmly secured allowing motion should an accident occur.
Supplemental restraint system,'srs' warning light is continuosly on during
opertation of vehicle. This condition has prevailed for over one year despite
attempts by dealer service technicians to correct. Both dealer service manager
and factory customer service personnel agree that 'srs' system may be
compromised.
