Tailgate latch does not function properly at cold temperatures. Failure is covered for V70, but not V70xc. Latch assemblies are the same. Numerous other references to V70xc latch failures found on internet. Problem is much more widespread than acknowledged. Numerous complaints to multiple dealers. They only spray lubricant on the latch and ignore the problem.

Rear locking mechanism broke . Rear locking light illuminated, and lock was not locking completely. Consumer contacted the dealer. However, dealer did nothing to assist the consumer. Recall 00v239000 concerning tailgate locking mechanism was issued.
Tail gate latch fails to shut in cold weather and tailgate cannot be closed while driving. Manufacturer has recalled some of these vehicles, but not all (my VIN number not included and I've noted there are several other similar complaints regarding this already filed with nhsta) - recall needs to be expanded!!! dealer refuses to repair.
