When I placed the car in the reverse the backup camera screen went black. I needed to stop and restart the vehicle for the backup camera to start working again.

Car was started and a/c system including all defrosting capabilities were non functional. Car was turned off and on with no change. Safety was at risk due to lack being able to have a functioning defrost and possible compromise of visibility out both front and back windshields. Called local dealership to troubleshoot. Service department said likely just a computer malfunction and would be difficult to find remedy if not a continual problem. After car was allowed to sit off for some time and then turned off, normal a/c functions resumed.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? blind spot sensor repeatedly malfunctioning. Vehicle generates "service required" message, and it appears that blind spot monitors fail to illuminate. Child safety locks also deactivate without driver input. Vehicle is currently available for inspection. 2. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? dealer has updated the software multiple times but has not attempted to assess the hardware. 3. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no. 4. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? drivers side door buttons periodically do not illuminate and do not operate windows or locks. Vehicle cannot be locked at times, or only passenger side doors can be locked. Key fob and manufacturer app only work to lock the vehicle sometimes. Issues began approximately July 2022 and have repeated intermittently. Issues seem to be occurring more frequently and for longer. Issues have been particularly frequent and long lasting in the last week; vehicle last serviced at the dealer approximately 12/22/2022.

The car's heater on 'pure' mode does not operate. I called the dealer and he said "OH yeah, this is a very widespread problem. " my car travels in cold climates and is subject to moisture/condensation. No call from Volvo, no special notice, nothing. . . . . . Just wait until you can't see out your windows and have to pull to the side of the road because they are too lazy to take care of this issue. It is safety issue - 100%.
Initially the center tablet would blackout while I’m backing out of my driveway, I put in reverse. Camera works. I back out and camera completely turns off. Not an issue with dirty camera as it comes in and off. Several times while I’m driving the entire instrument panel blacks out! it’s happened 5x in the last two months and I don’t drive much. I have taken to the dealer and told Volvo by emails and chat features and no one seems concerned. They could not see it happen while they drove it so they are not worried. I don’t feel safe in this car. Safety was the only reason I chose Volvo. Also the radio makes weird sounds, repaired twice lane assist is not working properly and they are not fixing it, braking system wasn’t working but they thankfully did a recall and fixed that. This car does not hold steady while driving despite the lane assist and all the fancy features I expected was working when purchased.

A faulty radiator anti-tamper device caused loss of communication to the engine control computer. The check engine light turns on and “charging failure-service urgent” message pops up during driving. Which cause the drivers worry even panic. I talked to local dealer several times. I was told to change battery everytime. But my battery and alternator were both tested fine. The message could pop up right after full charged battery. There are many complains at Volvo forums. Volvo knows the issue, but they decided not to recall it. The check engine light and messages pops up on and off by itself. The dtc codes are normally u0286 and/or b1087. I am already changed one battery. The problem is still there. It could cause accident because the message pops up during driving on highway and cause unnecessary worry and panic.

Lately my vehicle has been shutting off power when I hard right turn during parking everything shut off then I have to restart it again, but the scary part was what happened this morning I was driving on interstate and as I was charging lanes it almost powered off again but it picked up.
In September 2021 on 3 occasions, my car's steering locked up while driving. I could not unwind my wheel from a turn. Each time nearly resulted in a collision with a garage ticket booth, a median, drifting into an oncoming lane. Ii slammed on brakes each time to avoid and accident or collision. It was frightening. This happened at low speed (approx. 10 mph), I had no warning indicators, and the wheel released after I stepped off the brake. I took the car to the dealer who could not replicate it; they suggested I keep all lane keeping aids off. They have since been off. This month of July 2022, this began to happen again: 4 times in one week. The last time I could not correct out of turn in the road and nearly resulted in a head-on collision at about 32 mph and I ended up in the approaching traffic lane. I was terrified and very shaken up. I returned to the dealer. . Read more...
My vehicle is having an oil consumption issue. I recently purchased a vehicle and the document stated that it was a oil change completed. Called the dealership to verify that a oil change was indeed completed. Oil light came on stating that there was no or low oil. Arrive to oil change location and there was no oil reported in vehicle. Oil change completed, and 1600 miles later I have no oil in my vehicle again. I noticed the engine running a little harder than normal, and the car is extremely difficult catching acceleration. I contacted Volvo cars llc, and they suggested I bring my vehicle to a dealership to have it evaluated at a cost.

Volvo xc-60 computer system / software updates malfunctioned. The computer(s) remain in the vehicle (to my knowledge). Without warning, the vehicle failed to start, supposedly because of a software update that failed to work properly. The car routinely has software updates. This is the second time in the 6 months since we leased the car that it has had problems with a software update. We have a home in ithaca NY, where it can snow for many months of the year. We are put at risk by a car that can fail without warning. When the car failed to start, it could only be moved by a flat-bed tow truck, as it was impossible to put the car into neutral and it would not roll. The Volvo dealer confirmed that the vehicle failed to start because of a software update that failed to work properly. As far as we know the car's computer(s) was (were) not replaced - it was a pure software download problem. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. There was a message that the car intended to perform a software update and could not be used for 1. 5 hours until the update concluded. But there was no warning that the car would fail to work after the software finished updating.
The issue is with the windshields separating from the bonding agent ( not sealing ) it is cause for a safety issue not only because it is loose and can move when pushed up , but water is entering the vehicle through the top part of the windshield and entering the electrical controls for the lights and sun roof causing a potential short or shock hazard, not to mention ruining the interior of the vehicle ,( headliner, mold. . Etc. . ). I and many other's ( see link below) feel it is necessary to have Volvo make the replacement of windshields in their vehicles . Https://beranek. Agrrmag. Today, my sensus in the center console, as well as my instrument panel that shows the map between the gauges, went black and switched my drive mode out of eco, shutting off my adaptive cruise control. Rebooted 2 times before becoming stable. I have a video, but your system doesn't allow me to upload the file type.
Today my sensus in the center console as well as instrument panel that shows the map between the gauges went black and switched my drive mode out of eco, shutting off my cruise cintrol and turned off my bluetooth phone call. Rebooted 3 times before becoming stable. This is unsafe and very dangerous. They just did a software update while it was in the dealership recently fixing an unrelated issue for a month. Now I have to try and get a video as they always try to claim they can't duplicate issues. . . I always have to take videos and recordings now. . .
When stopped at a stop light, have to hold brake down in order to keep the car from driving as the rpms are revving up and down, causing the car to want to move and when in park revving so high that it went into red and caused the check engine light to come on and I had to turn off the vehicle. Also the gas tank filler tube cloggs up easily and has to be dropped in order for the tube / vents to be cleaned out or replaced.

I’ve taken the vehicle back to dealership several times and they say nothing is wrong with it. The steering wheel vibrates at high speeds or when backing into parking spaces. Loud noise when backing into parking spaces, possibly brakes or steering. Engines unusually loud when starting up. Windshield just spilt all the way across when car was sitting for 5 days in August, not from rocks on road. Vehicle has unusually low mileage of 16-18 mpg city & hyw driving. Brakes are noisy- I thought they were crack when I purchased last year. These happened on multiple dates of which your system doesn’t allow me to add.
There is a steady leak in the top left (driver side) of the windshield. Heard from the tom wood service and collision department that this is a common problem with these vehicles.
Windshield leaks while raining. Mold getting into headliner and the drips affect my visibility. The water intrudes into airbag area and could affect airbag lifespan and efficiency. Can affect electrical safety features in car. Cannot see while driving . Other people all over internet have this issue . Reported it to dealer.
The entire vehicle shakes and vibrates violently at 50 mph and over.

I leased the vehicle in December, 2020. Periodically while the tailgate is open and I am underneath it, the tailgate has closed on me and hit me in the back. In February, 2021, the struts on the tailgate were replaced at patrick Volvo, fort myers, florida, after I received a recall letter from Volvo. On September 9, 2021 at approximately 11:00 a. M. (cst) I was under the opened tailgate and it closed three times in a row and hit me in the back. Each time that it hit me, it reversed direction and went back into the open position. I was not injured but my back was sore for the rest of the day. I brought the SUV into patrick Volvo, shaumburg, illinois. The service representative (sr) explained to me that there is a sensor under the rear bumper that will open and close the tailgate if you waive your foot under one specific location. Which is approximately two feet from the left edge of the bumper. The sr explained to me that I must have accidentally waived my foot under the bumper and the sensor caused the tailgate to close. He further advised that it could not be deactivated. On September 18, 2021, at approximately 10:00 a. M. I was sitting in the cargo area putting on my golf shoes. The tailgate started to close. I ran as fast I could and avoided getting hurt or injured. My feet were not capable of engaging the sensor as they were in front of the bumper. I have advised Volvo customer service and patrick Volvo of this new safety concern. Patrick Volvo has stated to me that they have never had this problem on any of their suvs. They also do not know what is causing it. They are waiting for a loaner SUV to come back to their dealership and then I will bring the vehicle in, so they can attempt to solve this safety issue. In the meantime, I have to be very cautious when the tailgate is open. My fear is not only that it will hit me, but more so that it will not reverse direction and close on me.
The front seal on my windshield glass is not connected, the adhesive us either gone or not working anymore. You can push the glass up and see it move visibly when pushed. The leak is impacting my safety while driving. Yesterday ice cold water was dripping onto my lap while I was driving (distracting), as well as obstructing my vision while it ran down the inside of the glass. An independent glass company has inspected the windshield and duplicated the issues I have mentioned above. They mentioned that they have seen many of these faulty windshield seals and thought there might be a recall, but I have not been able to see one from Volvo.
This is in regards to pilot assist. My husband and I purchased this vehicle in may of 2021. We have encountered several incidents (while using pilot assist). The car has directed us to different lanes, steered us to guardrails and other cars and has failed to break when cars have been stopped in front of us. We have taken the car in to our local Volvo dealership multiple times and they have still not corrected the issues. The first time we took the car in to the dealership, we were told (by the mechanic) it’s not a good system and it will never operate correctly. They have checked the sensors and hooked the car up to the computer and said it’s not sending off any codes, therefore there is nothing they can do. They have also test driven the car. The latest test drive, the mechanic left notes saying the car did start to drift in to the other lane but was corrected by the driver. However, he claims this is normal operation.
Water collects in the driver side footwell after every rain. While driving during rains, water leaks from (1) driver side top left corner (2) "a" pillar and (3) lower left corner of dashboard at emergency brake release. Took Xc60 to local Volvo dealer where the windshield was pulled and reset. Front floor carpets were pulled, fan-dried and reinstalled. Volvo waived the charge for windshield reinstall, but would not waive charges for carpet services. This vehicle has experienced this problem earlier, requiring a windshield replacement.
While I was driving in a busy multilane city traffic situation, the car's center console went completely blank and the turn signals, hazard lights, and Volvo on call were not functioning properly. I am not sure what else was affected. This continued for a full 1-2 minutes, unlike times before when the system has done the same thing but quickly re-booted. The safety of others and myself was compromised, as I needed to change lanes to get onto the interstate. I could not tell if my signals were functioning because the signals were not making a clicking sound and the flashing signal indicator lights were completely nonfunctional. I tried the hazard lights as well, which did not function. I pressed the Volvo on call button, but nothing happened. When I took the car to the dealership, the service manager stated that a "software update" was performed to fix the problem, and when I questioned how I was to know if this would be a problem in the future, I was told that I "wouldn't know unless there was a problem" and they claimed to know nothing about whether the incident would be reported to the NHTSA. I feel unsafe driving this car now, which is ironic considering that I bought a Volvo for its purported safety.
There is a leak on my front windshielhe, drivers side. . When it rains water seeps in. . The leak impacts my safety while driving. Yesterday ice cold water was dripping onto my lap while I was driving (distracting), as well as obstructing my vision while it ran down the inside of the glass ). It seems many Volvo owners are experiencing the same problems especially Xc60's. Apparently the seal did not adhere correctly therefore, eventually all xc's will experience if not recalled by Volvo. The airbags are supported by the front windshield and if not fixed, may lead to death for may Volvo owners. Please help us with Volvo corporate. This matter requires immediate attention.
When entering three local intersections the city safety auto brake engages even though there is nothing in front of the car. It has only happened at these 3 locations. They are light controlled intersections with inground sensors. Speeds have always been less than 10 mph. The most concerning example was the braking stopped the car and then when my spouse attempted to continue through the intersection it stopped her again and she was nearly rear ended. All three appear to have been updated or are new. This has been going on for probably a year and it doesn't happen at these intersections 100% of the time, but these are the only intersections we have had the issue, in the 4 years we have owned the car. I had the car looked at when it was in for our last oil change and the computer is not indicating any error code according to the mechanic. So the system thinks there was something in front of the car. I have not found very much online when trying to search this issue. The date I am listing was the most recent. We do have a video from yesterday.
While driving on a freeway (70 degrees external temp), my right rear window spontaneously shattered with no contact. There was a loud pop and the entire window shattered into tiny bits.
The park assiset does not work, rear camera not working.

For several years now I've had to deal with a defective windshield. It leaks water into my car and on me while I'm driving. The water turns to mold until I shampoo it out. It affects my visibility driving. I've tried to get it fixed but I was told it was my sunroof. The sunroof was tested and it is not leaking in the vehicle. There are multiple forums of hundreds of people having the same issue. I worry if I spend 1,000 on a new windshield that if this is an oem problem it will leak again. This issue happens both driving and stationary. But in the meantime I worry about my family getting sick from mold in the car every time it rains as well as when I'm driving my visibility. Volvo needs to be responsible for resealing all of our windshields for free and replacing front carpets. I am not experiencing any electrical issues which is good.
My vehicles windshield leaks on the drivers side during and reciveing a car wash on a teack in neutral.
Every time it rains water runs in from sunroof and or front windshield got to where you can't even drive in the rain anymore it is so bad. Still has the factory windshield in the car.
Over a period of the last 45 days on two separate occasions,in rain, at highway speed of 55mph+, the overall performance of the driver inputs failed to function. When driving, turning the wheel to left/right to change lanes or pull to the slow lane; made the car feel as it wanted to spin out uncontrollably. To move the steering wheel left, the car wanted to go right. When going straight there was a wobbly unstable feeling, and was noticeable to passengers in the car. The issue did not occur at lower speeds and car perform normally. The sensation was similar to the input on a boat. The only correction which worked was to slow down to 40-45 and take side roads. At lower speeds brake testing and other maneuvers were performed without issue.
The problem started 2 years ago and has progressively become worse. The original windshield is leaking water, which drains down inside the a-pillar and windshield. Water also leaks into the air-bag in the a-pillar, and moisture may come in contact with the electronic parts in the dashboard, creating a safety issue and a potential fire hazard. Last year I contacted tucson Volvo for help, and they referred me to jd auto glass (520-370-6599). The local dealer refused to take any responsibility for this safety defect. There have been heavy rains recently in tucson, and water is dripping onto my lap while I am driving, and trying to wipe the dashboard dry. This causes a major distraction and obstructs my vision, since the water continuously runs down the inside of the windshield glass. Yesterday I contacted tucson Volvo again, and they referred me to tony's autoglass (520-889-2422). The owner/manager of tony's autoglass informed me that leaking windshields are a very common problem with Volvos. I believe this is a very serious safety defect, and am seeking help from your office. Thank you!.
