There is a class action lawsuit against Volvo for both these problems and I was affected by both this month. 1. Windshield for Volvo Xc60 is known for a failure of bonding along the top edge. When I brought it in the service guys were able to just push the windshield upwards and out with their bare hands to show me that there is a huge gap along the top edge. This happened to my car in the past 1 month and ended in a $420 repair that involved popping the whole thing off and resealing it. This is very dangerous because the water drips onto the steering wheel and electronics, which is distracting for the driver, but also obviously a huge threat to the car's electronic system. 2. In the same month, the car just failed completely, flashing all sorts of dashboard lights and demanding to be put into park when it was already in park. It said brakes and srs airbags were failing. The whole system went black and the fob was stuck in the console. The car had to be towed to the dealership, where they said the culprit was the rdar software, which is connected to the satellite radio. It causes a parasitic draw that keeps searches for a signal even when the car is off. They will charge everyone hundreds to update the software (not included in the free software update Volvo boasts about), and sometimes more to replace the battery, plus labor, or maybe quote thousands to try to disable the satellite radio completely, which is hard or impossible because it's integrated into the rest of the electronics. Luckily mine was parked when this happened, but I don't think this needs explanation for why it's dangerous if the car just randomly drains of battery while you're driving due to a faulty satellite radio system that Volvo + dealerships will do nothing about and charge customers hundreds or thousands even though the problem is very well documented. Disgusting and immoral.

Safety issue the auto-hold brake function malfunctioned. I am using this feature a lot. When entering a paid parking garage the car stopped correctly before the gate . But when opening the door and unbuckling the driver's belt the system malfunctioned- instead of entering auto parking mode and be stopped if moved forward fast, breaking the parking gate completely, damaging city's property, breaking my mirror and getting dents on the hood, driver's door and b-pillar trim panel. Also my left ankle had a big bruise and lump after that, but luckily was not broken . This case was reported to police. The vehicle was stopped. Parking garage entrance.

I was pulling into a parking space and put my foot down to apply the brakes the car would not slow down, the harder I pushed onthe brake the more the car would go fordward. Have you had anything like this before.
We have in at least 2 occasions experience the feature "city safety" on our Volvo Xc60 2015 , braking to a stop while we are in traffic for no apparent reason. The company as well as the dealership claim this is how the feature is suppose to work . According to them the software has its limitations and these limitations include the car stoping abruptly and dangerously. The feature can be turned off but it will reset itself to on every time the car is restarted. The advice was for us to turn the feature off every time we drive in the city and or through fog with defeats the purpose of a feature called "city safe" . We believe that the company does not want to admit that the first generation of this feature is not street safe . Thank you.

This happened on two separate occasions - while driving normally on a regular city street the engine suddenly shut off. With no power available, the power steering and brakes were also affected. This caused an extremely dangerous situation as the car suddenly stopped in the middle of a busy street. After a minute or so the engine was able to be restarted. The engine shutoff option was disabled and all other functions had been working normally at the time.

The contact owns a 2016 Volvo Xc60. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle began to shake and the brakes engaged without warning. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and occurred temporarily. Volvo cars princeton (2931 brunswick pike, lawrence township, new jersey 08648) was made aware of the failure. It was unknown as to whether or not the vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

City safety brakes for no reason. When applying the brakes, brakes grab and car lunges forward, sometime the city safety message appears and other times it does not. I was breaking for a stop when this happened. Thought I was going to rear ended because of the sudden stop. This has happened several times. Has me worried if wife is driving. Dealer said there is no problem, not so!.
When I purchased the vehicle, I had told sacramento nello Volvo that there was a issue with the handling of the car. I did not look at the rotors when I purchased the vehicle. I have been out of the country five times since the purchase of the car so, I have bearly driven the vehicle. I was fortunate that I was driving at a low speed when I used the brakes in a hard stop and they failed to prevent a collision. I was driving on a city street driving north towards travis afb.
Driving at slow speed with no cars in front or behind me. Suddenly the car engaged the city safety and it came to an abrupt halt.
While driving on a local street the vehicle without warning suddenly shut down, braking the vehicle to a sudden stop and locking the steering wheel in the middle of moving traffic. The vehicle came to a sudden complete stop without driver input narrowly avoiding a collision. Vehicle was unable to start or be moved and had to be placed on a flatbed by the use of a dolly system. If the vehicle had been driving on a highway control would have been lost causing a very serious and most likely fatal accident. Please advise the next step in this procedure as I feel this car is unsafe, in that no warning was provided if a malfunction were to and did occur, why did the car completely shut down, stopping the vehicle immediately and locking the steering wheel. No control was possible due to this situation. As stated previously if the vehicle was driven at highway speeds at the time this would surely have been fatal.
After starting up from a stop, city safety activated with an emergency brake activation, we were almost rear ended by the car behind us. There was no reason for the activation of the brakes, vehicle in front was accelerating away from us, plenty of space between us, and space was increasing. This occurred on 3 more occasions before I could get to the dealer. My wife has not driven the car since, as she no longer feels safe, worried about self, and the baby due to hard stop or if rear ended.
