On 22 Dec 2017, while driving my Volvo Xc90 hybrid r-design, I received an error light that stated 12 volt battery had an issue. I called the Volvo dealership in sarasota and spoke to the service manager, joe rice to let him know about this issue. While on the phone, an additional error light "abs" and then a few seconds later a car with a squiggly lanes error light came on. I immediately lost the ability to brake, I lost the ability to steer, I lost the ability to put the SUV into neutral, I lost the ability to put on my hazard blinking light. All I could do is take my foot of the gas pedal but because I was not able to put the SUV in neutral, and had no brakes, I continued to move. The screen on my front console went black and the middle console went black. If I was on any busy road or expressway, I would have immediately been in an accident. Luckly after miles of forced driving, and with the help of the service manager, apply manual brakes by flooring the brake pedal as hard as possible to the floor and tap, not pump. This electrical failure defect is so detrimental that it will cause accidents resulting in death. Volvo has kept my car since 22 Dec and they stated that they are changing out the computer that caused this issue. I'm afraid that Volvo might not disclose this defect to NHTSA and that someone or someone else's family with be in an accident resulting in death. This is a very serious problem and beg NHTSA to look into the matter expeditiously to recall Volvos with these defects. If NHTSA moves quickly, they have the ability to prevent accidents and death. I'm available to provide a sworn statement to the incident and willing to help anyway I can. Thank you for your consideration, very respectfully, peter kazil.

Recently we lost the serpentine belt without knowing it. No warning lights or computer message called our attention to the fact that we were running on battery. The only indication of a problem was the loss of power steering. We drove a short distance to a Volvo repair facility and learned we lost the serpentine belt, thus the alternator, water pump, power steering and air conditioner were inoperative. We were informed that the computer controls everything and would not issue a warning until the engine overheated and/or the battery was close to failing. This is a recipe for disaster for a driver or family who might drive into a dangerous situation or at the very least harm the engine through overheating. The loss of the alternator should send a warning to the driver that there is a serious engine malfunction and to stop at the earliest safe place and seek assistance.

There has been problems with steering the driver shafts the fuel pump airbags and wheels making a clicking noise while driving on highway. The gas smell is always inside the car and mechanic has said it's from the fuel pump defect during manufacturer. Along with the other fore-mention defects . Volvo does not want to address issues because age of car. There is a defective sunroof that allows water to leak inside the car during rain fall . There has been a top class action placed against Volvo for this . They wanted to charge me $700 to $800 for this defect and $1200 to $1500 for fuel pump .

My 2003 Volvo Xc90 has been to the dealer several times including over 3 times for same problem when I purchased the vehicle in 2006. All recalls have been fixed, front axle, wipers etc. I have purchased 4 sets of tires, tires boston Volvo installed and my 17 year old son received a complete blow out because wrong size tires. I continue taking to same dealer and since owning the car have had the same noises in front of car. Boston Volvo has stated in October and since owning the vehicle can find nothing wrong, April diagnosed with need new drive shaft after having car for 2 days but could not really fine anything but drive shaft. A strong fuel smell stated fuel pump does not need to be corrected. I need new muffler and taking to my own mechanic the real issue is transmission service urgent and need new transmission. Volvo did not diagnose this problem and my son is driving the car! my son is driving a lemon that is a danger to himself. Taking to Volvo does nothing, they cannot even diagnose and give wrong info given to me. I am currently up to over $8,000 in damages and still owe on this lemon. I need new transmission, muffler, still car vibrates and front end noises from whining, thumping etc.
