1 Accelerator Pedal problem of the 2023 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 05/05/2025

The contact owns a 2023 Acura Mdx. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the accelerator pedal had erroneously extended to the floor and the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The contact indicated that the vehicle speed had exceeded 95 mph while driving in a 25 mph zone. While pressing the brake pedal the vehicle did not stop and drove through a red light. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and an engineer was flown to the dealer to examine the vehicle. The engineer determined that the driver side floor mat was faulty and the floor mat was replaced. The contact indicated that the failure had continued to occur. The failure had occurred on three separate occasions and lasted up to 40 seconds before self correcting. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.

2 Accelerator Pedal problem of the 2002 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 01/26/2005

While the consumer was driving at 30 mph sudeenly the vehicle turned left on its own, then turned right on its own, and accelerated.

3 Accelerator Pedal problem of the 2001 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 12/07/2004

Driving home last evening; first 5 miles; up a hill; slowed to make turn onto freeway. I took my foot off the accelerator, and the engine died. Power steering became very sluggish; had to struggle a little to pull off side of road. Car restarted easily, problem did not recur that night.
