2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 05/18/2026

When I was at 41,528 miles, may 18, the lkas, acc & rdms errors all turned on at the same time. So those systems just stopped working randomly. When I restarted the car, all errors turned off but it turned on again after 10 days, may 28 with 91,966 miles. I brought it to the Acura dealership and they couldn't replicate it. I think this is an issue because one of the highlights of this car is safety but at random times, those safety systems suddenly stops working and the dealership couldn't do anything about it.

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 05/01/2026

I was pulling up to our house to park in the open garage as I typically do and was in the driveway with my foot lifted off the gas pedal to allow the car to coast forward slowly. The car hesitated for a moment before it lunged/accelerated on its own with such force I had to slam on my brakes to avoid the car hitting the wall of our house. I did not have cruise control on. Took the car to Acura dealership for a multi-point inspection and they found nothing out of order that would’ve caused that to occur.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 04/04/2026

My 2017 Acura Mdx unexpectedly shifts into neutral while I am driving, specifically when slowing down approaching stop signs. When this happens, the vehicle loses power and will not accelerate, creating a dangerous situation in traffic. I have to manually press the drive button to put the vehicle back into gear while still on the road. This has happened multiple times without warning and no recall exists for this issue. This is a serious safety hazard because the vehicle can lose power in traffic or intersections.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 04/02/2026

The multipurpose camera on my 2018 Acura Mdx intermittently fails and stores dtc u3000-49. When the failure occurs, multiple Acurawatch/Honda sensing safety systems become unavailable, including collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keeping assist system (lkas), and road departure mitigation (rdm). The vehicle displays numerous safety-related warning messages on the dashboard. The issue is intermittent and appears to occur randomly. In many cases, the warnings disappear after the vehicle is shut off and immediately restarted. This behavior can be observed in the attached video, where the warnings clear following a restart at approximately 1:08 into the recording. The vehicle retains its original factory-installed windshield and related components. The windshield has never been replaced, modified, or damaged, eliminating a common cause of camera calibration or alignment issues. I contacted Acura client relations and opened case number 16409871 regarding this issue. Acura declined to acknowledge the problem as a manufacturing defect and did not offer coverage for diagnosis or repair. Because the multipurpose camera is a critical safety component responsible for advanced driver assistance and collision avoidance functions, its intermittent failure raises significant safety concerns. The fact that the issue temporarily clears after a restart suggests a potential defect in the camera hardware, software, or related vehicle systems rather than normal wear and tear. I understand that other Acura and Honda owners have reported similar multipurpose camera failures. Given the safety implications of losing collision mitigation, lane-keeping, and driver assistance features while operating the vehicle, I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether this condition constitutes a safety-related defect and whether a broader pattern exists among affected vehicles.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 03/29/2026

I am reporting a major safety failure on my 2017 Acura Mdx regarding the forward-facing multipurpose camera. Out of nowhere, the camera failed and triggered a cascade of warning lights across my entire dashboard. Because of this hardware defect, all of the critical safety systems—including the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), lane keeping assist (lkas), and adaptive cruise control—are now completely disabled. Having these emergency systems shut down while driving in traffic is a serious safety hazard. Furthermore, the constant flashing of 5 or 6 different warning lights on the dash is a massive distraction while trying to operate the vehicle. This is a well-documented hardware failure in these models, and it shouldn't be left to the owners to pay thousands of dollars to fix a primary safety component that failed prematurely. This needs to be investigated as a mandatory safety recall before these failures lead to an accident.

11 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 02/25/2026

Add auto high beam problem to the above adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation. Suddenly got several warning popups and persistent warning lights on related to the identified issues. We just replaced the battery a few months ago, and didn't have any of these problems until this week. Now, it happens every time we start the vehicle. We did the recall software upgrade. I suspect these problems are related to that software upgrade. Many people online report identical problems without solutions. Please advise re next steps for how to resolve.

12 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 02/19/2026

Unknown.

13 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 02/01/2026

While driving the car, several warning lights turned on all at once, saying that the following components were disabled: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and collision mitigation braking system. Not being able to use these features is more dangerous, not to mention that the warning lights associated with their disabling are distracting (making it likely that, if a more serious warning was flashing, it would not be noticed by the driver) and cannot be turned off without an expensive replacement. Yes, the problem was confirmed by a trusted mechanic (the warning lights will not turn off so it's not hard to confirm), who indicated that the radar camera needed to be replaced. No, the component has not been inspected by others. There was no warning of the problem.

14 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 01/01/2026

Hello, I am writing to report that my 2017 vehicle is experiencing the same issue that was subject to a recall on the 2016 models. Despite the recall being associated with the 2016 year, my 2017 vehicle is showing identical symptoms and concerns. This raises serious questions about safety, reliability, and whether this issue extends beyond the originally recalled model year. I would like this concern formally documented and request a review of my vehicle to determine whether it qualifies for repair, inspection, or coverage related to the prior recall. Please advise on the next steps and whether this issue has been reported or addressed for 2017 models. Vehicle details: year: 2017 I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to your response. Sincerely, [xxx] if I get killed me or my [xxx] son, you all will be responsible. You made these faulty vehicles. [xxx] I'm have to get a lawyer involved if issues are not addressed. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

15 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 12/22/2025

Automatic transmission. The car does not go to park when selecting park, it goes into neutral mode. It does not park at all.

16 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

I drove my car in the morning and parked it in the lot for about an hour. After I came back and started my car, the following multiple safety systems displayed on my dashboard at the same time: - lane keeping assist problem - collision mitigation system problem - road departure mitigation system problem - auto high beam problem - adaptive cruise control problem when I took it to the dealership on the same day to diagnose this, they came back and said it was an internal failure with the camera and quoted me around $2200 to replace and recalibrate the camera. These lights just came on out of nowhere, I had no repairs or modifications with my windshield and there were no accidents of any sort. This appears to be a widespread problem among 2020 Acura Mdx vehicles with similar camera modules. A malfunctioning front camera can prevent the vehicle from automatically braking or maintaining lanes, hence increasing the risk of collision. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the front multi-purpose camera system on the 2020 Acura Mdx for potential defect and safety hazard.

17 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 11/25/2025

While driving my 2020 Acura Mdx with 29,647 miles, all Acurawatch safety systems suddenly failed at once, including collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Multiple warning messages appeared simultaneously. This disabled forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure/lane keeping functions, creating a serious safety risk. The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed an internal failure of the multipurpose front camera/radar unit, and recommended replacement of the entire assembly. The repair estimate is $2,200. The dealer stated the component has failed and cannot be repaired. This issue is widely reported by many Acura owners of similar model years, and appears to be a recurring defect. The failure occurred without any impact, damage, or modification. The vehicle is available for inspection. The symptoms began suddenly and all warnings appeared at the same time. Because this failure disables critical collision-avoidance and lane-keeping systems, it presents a significant risk to the driver and others on the road. I believe this should be investigated as a safety defect.

18 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 11/22/2025

This has happened twice while on a drive, cruising along on a highway and go to pass a car in another lane, transmission down shifts and then lose all power, transmission repair light comes on as well as emission controls, vehicle is still running but no power to the wheels, trying to get back across three sometimes four lanes to get to the shoulder due to the loss of power, this happened once back in the summer and again today about 96k and now 110k, there are a lot of forums talking about it as well.

22 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 10/17/2025

Dear Acura, my Mdx is showing many lights on the dashboard (lkas, acc, break system, cmbs, rdm) associates with the code u3000-49 and all those features are deactivated due to the failure mentioned. I was searching on the website for this error and found many Acura Mdx oweners experiencing the same issue which apparently the windshield lane departure camera. Honestly, Acura should take a look into this since this issue is getting worse and those are safety features on the vehicle. Regards,.

The front camera failure. Needs replacement. Camera apparently is used for the acc , lane departure assistance.

24 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

The lkas and parking systems will randomly decide to cease functioning and express error messages. The car has not been in an accident.

25 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 09/19/2025

Monocular windshield camera failed for no apparent reason on five-year-old car with less than 50k miles. Dealer cost to fix $2k. My concern is there are an many individuals on the Acura Mdx forums complaining of the same problem. It appears to be a relatively common but very costly failure on many Honda vehicles that use similar cameras. I believe this is worthy of an investigation, especially since the camera is necessary for many safety related features to function properly.

26 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 09/02/2025

Constant errors in dash. Cruise control fails while driving. Auto braking no longer works. Warning of other vehicles in blind spots does not work anymore. Many error in dash display regarding the camera and lkas are displayed.

27 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 09/01/2025

My 2020 Acura Mdx is throwing up multiple dashboard warnings related to the camera sensor—involving systems like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation, and road departure mitigation. These systems rely heavily on the multipurpose camera unit mounted near the rearview mirror. I took it to my Acura dealership service and they concluded it's the multipurpose camera unit that's causing all these dashboard warnings. They are charging me $1800+ for a new one to be installed. I have researched and googled this issue online, and there were hundreds and hundreds of comments from Honda car owners that have faced this issue, especially Honda and Acura models made in 2019-2020. Many have bought a used camera unit for approx. $150 online and got it installed & calibrated. Others have said that this camera unit is so hot to the touch since it's located under the windshield. I agree with a lot of these Honda/Acura owners that this malfunction of this camera is a safety issue for the car drivers and others around them since these codes just pops out suddenly making the drivers so nervous during driving. Also, these cameras under the windshield get so, so hot that it could also start a combustible hazard. These units should be encased in a heat-tolerant case/cover and not metal.

28 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 08/31/2025

Camera is failing - reportedly due to a bad internal ground-wire. Acura is charging $900 for the part and $1600 for the installation and calibration of a new unit !! also - the unit is a black color, and located right behind the windshield, so bakes itself to death. Acura should be using white colors inside the space, limit the un-used volume, and recalling the units (or at least providing a low-cost unit) to allow simple replacement and improve safety. Such an important and expensive part should not be failing so often. The mxers. Org web site has hundreds of posts about this item. Also - the parts should be pre-calibrated! Acura wants several hundred $$ to calibrate it and 4 days to do it. Nhtsa should not be requiring adas technology if it is so fragile and expensive to fix/replace, as in the long-run owners will not maintain it (e. . G $2,400 repair bills for a small camera part nad 5 minute change). . Read more...

29 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

Front camera stopped working at 65 000 miles. Seems to be a faulty part as many hondas and Acuras have the same problem and the dealer wants over $2000 to replace a $700 part that sounds like less than 45 minutes to replace.

30 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 08/12/2025

Failed component: front camera system controlling adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and other safety features. Safety risk: loss of these systems increases risk of collision, lane drift, and reduced driver reaction time. Date issue began: August 12, 2025. Confirmation: problem reproduced and confirmed by authorized Acura dealership. Inspections: inspected by Acura dealership only. Symptoms: dashboard alerts immediately after startup stating adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist are unavailable; warnings remain active while driving.

31 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

While driving with my small children in the vehicle, my 2022 Acura Mdx suddenly displayed multiple simultaneous system failures without warning and the steering wheel locked and the car slowed and the brakes didn't work well: •brake system problem – warning that braking performance may be reduced •electric power steering problem – “do not drive” warning •vehicle stability assist problem •hill start assist problem •all wheel drive system problem - •adaptive cruise control problem •collision mitigation braking system problem •lane keeping assist system problem •trailer stability assist system problem •brake hold system problem •vehicle stability assist problem •electric power steering system problem •low speed braking control problem •road departure mitigation system problem these failures created a serious risk to my life as well as my children's lives by simultaneously disabling braking, steering assist, stability control, and awd traction. If this had occurred at highway speeds or in a location without space to maneuver, it could have caused a severe crash and even death. The vehicle was towed to the dealer immediately. The tow truck driver stated that he had transported another 2022 Acura Mdx with identical failures earlier the same day, suggesting this may be a widespread defect. The dealer found no recalls and attributed the issue to a steering angle sensor malfunction. Given the severity and the risk of injury or death, I am reporting this to NHTSA. Request: NHTSA investigation into whether this is part of a broader safety defect affecting 2022 Acura Mdx models, and whether a recall or manufacturer corrective action is warranted.

32 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 07/13/2025

This is a safety-related defect involving the multipurpose front camera used for advanced driver-assistance systems (adas) on the 2020 Acura Mdx. The multipurpose front camera failed without warning, resulting in the simultaneous loss of multiple adas safety features, including (but not limited to) lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, and road departure mitigation. These features are integral to the vehicle’s active safety systems and driver awareness. The failure required full replacement of the front camera assembly. The total repair cost was approximately $2,300, which I was required to pay out of pocket because no recall or extended warranty coverage was available. This failure creates a significant safety concern because: * the loss of adas functions occurred suddenly and without driver fault. * the driver may rely on these systems for collision avoidance, lane control, and adaptive braking. * the vehicle remains drivable, but with materially degraded safety capabilities compared to its certified design. * there is a risk that drivers may not immediately recognize the loss of functionality or may assume partial systems are still operational. After experiencing this issue, I discovered numerous reports from other Acura Mdx owners describing identical multipurpose front camera failures, often at similar mileage, with similarly high repair costs. This suggests a potential systemic defect rather than isolated wear or misuse. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this issue to determine whether this represents a safety-related defect requiring investigation and possible recall. Given the role this component plays in multiple safety systems, I believe this issue warrants formal evaluation.

33 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 07/06/2025

The front camera responsible for forward collision warning and lanekeep has failed. The camera has part number 36160-tyr-a02. It failed on it's own but it could have been alot worse if it failed before a collision occurred. The dealer and independent repair shop said it was the camera code u3000-49 and this was an out of pocket repair. The symptoms include having these error messages on the gauge cluster. Adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, road departure, collision mitigation, and auto high beam problem. At first it would intermittently show up but then after a while those errors would not go away.

34 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 Acura MDX
