I am writing to report an urgent safety concern regarding my 2018 Acura Mdx tech sh-awd. Upon starting the vehicle, all primary Acurawatch driver-assist systems suffered a total failure. The center display continuously cycles through four warnings: collision mitigation system problem adaptive cruise control problem lane keeping assist problem road departure mitigation system problem in addition, the brake system, crash warning, and lane departure dash lights remain permanently illuminated. Diagnostic findings an obd-ii diagnostic scan logged the following stored chassis code: dtc u3000-internal electronic failure of multipurpose camera unit / millimeter wave radar I am aware of TSB #b23-008 regarding camera logic errors. However, clearing codes and software resets do not clear this persistent hardware failure within the monocular camera unit (part # 36160-tz6-a34). Safety & request for action the total shutdown of primary crash-prevention systems presents a clear safety hazard. Forcing owners to absorb $20,000+ out-of-pocket for camera replacement and mandatory dealer recalibration on a known hardware fault undermines Acura's commitment to safety and quality. The subject 2019 Acura Mdx model includes the tech package which adds several safety features that function through a windshield mounted camara/radar. The system has malfunctioned and none of the safety features are working. The dash displays the following messages: collision mitigation system problem adaptive cruise control problem lane keeping asist problem road departure mitigation system problem automatic headlight system problem at the bottom of the dash, I see brake system, crash warning and lane departure lights on as well. Acura is charging $2,319 to replace this unit in addition to a $270 diagnostic fee. This issue is widely reported as a significant issue in several model years for the Mdx and should be part of a safety recall. The Acura technician acknowledged this issue is common. I should add this is the second major electronic issue with this Mdx within the last several months. The prior issue was multiple system failure warnings that Acura determined were caused by a faulty wiring harness at a $1,604 cost, plus a $255 diagnostic fee. Please note I am the original owner of the vehicle and it has never been in a collision. Additionally, the system has recently mistakenly activated the brakes at very low speed and warned against collisions with other vehicles traveling in the opposite direction while on a curve.

My cruise control, automatic lane changing indicator light indicator, brake indicator light, high beam light indicator lights all keep coming off and on. Researching it on youtube states that it’s the camera on my windshield getting too hot and it’s a known issue. It’s $1800 to fix but others have stated they get fixed and it doesn’t resolve the problem. Asking for your help.

When I was at 41,528 miles, may 18, the lkas, acc & rdms errors all turned on at the same time. So those systems just stopped working randomly. When I restarted the car, all errors turned off but it turned on again after 10 days, may 28 with 91,966 miles. I brought it to the Acura dealership and they couldn't replicate it. I think this is an issue because one of the highlights of this car is safety but at random times, those safety systems suddenly stops working and the dealership couldn't do anything about it.

I was pulling up to our house to park in the open garage as I typically do and was in the driveway with my foot lifted off the gas pedal to allow the car to coast forward slowly. The car hesitated for a moment before it lunged/accelerated on its own with such force I had to slam on my brakes to avoid the car hitting the wall of our house. I did not have cruise control on. Took the car to Acura dealership for a multi-point inspection and they found nothing out of order that would’ve caused that to occur.

Right and left rear stroke sensor and after market connector with pigtails found corrosion nee rear stroke sensor connector causing dtc c1646-f0=== $872. 13 right + $872. 13 left they are using after market parts with this new suspension system for Acuras Mdx type s. Any car wash or rain storm or snow storm this parts gets corrosion!.

My 2017 Acura Mdx unexpectedly shifts into neutral while I am driving, specifically when slowing down approaching stop signs. When this happens, the vehicle loses power and will not accelerate, creating a dangerous situation in traffic. I have to manually press the drive button to put the vehicle back into gear while still on the road. This has happened multiple times without warning and no recall exists for this issue. This is a serious safety hazard because the vehicle can lose power in traffic or intersections.

The multipurpose camera on my 2018 Acura Mdx intermittently fails and stores dtc u3000-49. When the failure occurs, multiple Acurawatch/Honda sensing safety systems become unavailable, including collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keeping assist system (lkas), and road departure mitigation (rdm). The vehicle displays numerous safety-related warning messages on the dashboard. The issue is intermittent and appears to occur randomly. In many cases, the warnings disappear after the vehicle is shut off and immediately restarted. This behavior can be observed in the attached video, where the warnings clear following a restart at approximately 1:08 into the recording. The vehicle retains its original factory-installed windshield and related components. The windshield has never been replaced, modified, or damaged, eliminating a common cause of camera calibration or alignment issues. I contacted Acura client relations and opened case number 16409871 regarding this issue. Acura declined to acknowledge the problem as a manufacturing defect and did not offer coverage for diagnosis or repair. Because the multipurpose camera is a critical safety component responsible for advanced driver assistance and collision avoidance functions, its intermittent failure raises significant safety concerns. The fact that the issue temporarily clears after a restart suggests a potential defect in the camera hardware, software, or related vehicle systems rather than normal wear and tear. I understand that other Acura and Honda owners have reported similar multipurpose camera failures. Given the safety implications of losing collision mitigation, lane-keeping, and driver assistance features while operating the vehicle, I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether this condition constitutes a safety-related defect and whether a broader pattern exists among affected vehicles.

I am reporting a major safety failure on my 2017 Acura Mdx regarding the forward-facing multipurpose camera. Out of nowhere, the camera failed and triggered a cascade of warning lights across my entire dashboard. Because of this hardware defect, all of the critical safety systems—including the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), lane keeping assist (lkas), and adaptive cruise control—are now completely disabled. Having these emergency systems shut down while driving in traffic is a serious safety hazard. Furthermore, the constant flashing of 5 or 6 different warning lights on the dash is a massive distraction while trying to operate the vehicle. This is a well-documented hardware failure in these models, and it shouldn't be left to the owners to pay thousands of dollars to fix a primary safety component that failed prematurely. These error messages & warning lamps would appear anywhere from 15-30 minutes after vehicle was in motion.

Supplemental — reference odi 11742372 follow-up to odi 11742372, 2018 Acura Mdx, VIN 5j8yd3h33jl******. Intermittent multipurpose camera failure, dtc u3000-49, causing simultaneous loss of cmbs, acc, lkas, and rdm. The defect remains unresolved and I have been unable to obtain diagnosis or repair through Acura's authorized service network. Acura client relations case 16409871 was opened. Acura declined to acknowledge the failure as a manufacturing defect and offered no coverage for diagnosis or repair. I then attempted to schedule service with autonation Acura, an authorized service center. Over approximately one month I left more than 25 voicemails on both the reception and service department lines. I received no return call and no acknowledgment. I have been unable to secure a service appointment. On [date] I sent written correspondence to Acura corporate relations documenting the failed scheduling attempts, restating the safety nature of the failure, and requesting referral to an alternate authorized dealer. [no response as of this filing. ] the effect is that a safety-critical driver assistance system has been intermittently non-functional since at least April 2, 2026, and the manufacturer has neither acknowledged the defect nor made its service network available to diagnose it. The vehicle remains in service. Failures occur without warning during normal operation, disabling collision mitigation braking, lane keeping, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control at once. The vehicle retains its original factory windshield, never replaced, modified, or damaged, eliminating a common cause of camera misalignment. Mileage is low for the model year. Other Acura and Honda owners report comparable camera failures with similar codes. I renew my request that NHTSA evaluate whether this constitutes a safety-related defect and whether a broader pattern exists across vehicles using the same camera module and Acurawatch/Honda sensing architecture.

Add auto high beam problem to the above adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation. Suddenly got several warning popups and persistent warning lights on related to the identified issues. We just replaced the battery a few months ago, and didn't have any of these problems until this week. Now, it happens every time we start the vehicle. We did the recall software upgrade. I suspect these problems are related to that software upgrade. Many people online report identical problems without solutions. Please advise re next steps for how to resolve.

While driving the car, several warning lights turned on all at once, saying that the following components were disabled: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and collision mitigation braking system. Not being able to use these features is more dangerous, not to mention that the warning lights associated with their disabling are distracting (making it likely that, if a more serious warning was flashing, it would not be noticed by the driver) and cannot be turned off without an expensive replacement. Yes, the problem was confirmed by a trusted mechanic (the warning lights will not turn off so it's not hard to confirm), who indicated that the radar camera needed to be replaced. No, the component has not been inspected by others. There was no warning of the problem.

The car is giving external right head light issue. The light turns off suddenly at night which we need to turn on again after 2 minutes. This happens frequently and we have to turn on the lights very often. The dealer examined the issue and he expressed regret in repairing the vehicle and estimated price of $2. 500. The service manager though stated that the issue is same as it pertains to the rear lighting issue for Acura 2014 to 2020 models. We paid $100 just to examine the lighting issue to the dealer. We are senior citizens at advanced stage and it is becoming increasingly difficult to take out the cars at evenings for fear of proper and reliable lighting in the car.

Automatic transmission. The car does not go to park when selecting park, it goes into neutral mode. It does not park at all.

The dealer stated the component has failed and cannot be repaired. This issue is widely reported by many Acura owners of similar model years, and appears to be a recurring defect. The failure occurred without any impact, damage, or modification. The vehicle is available for inspection. The symptoms began suddenly and all warnings appeared at the same time. This has happened twice while on a drive, cruising along on a highway and go to pass a car in another lane, transmission down shifts and then lose all power, transmission repair light comes on as well as emission controls, vehicle is still running but no power to the wheels, trying to get back across three sometimes four lanes to get to the shoulder due to the loss of power, this happened once back in the summer and again today about 96k and now 110k, there are a lot of forums talking about it as well.

Google on-board gives a persistent error that the mmi and car driving technology firmware cannot be completed. Service center says it’s known and they can’t do anything. The car is supposed to have voice control over vehicle temperature and functionality — it does not. It frequently will not automatically connect to a wireless apple car play or google auto connection. Firmware is also supposed to communicate w car speed, etc. To make Acura assist driving more safe.

Multi purpose camera stops working while in use causing safety features to stop working. Has almost caused a serious accident. Acura is stating it is not an issue they feel obligated to fix.

Monocular windshield camera failed for no apparent reason on five-year-old car with less than 50k miles. Dealer cost to fix $2k. My concern is there are an many individuals on the Acura Mdx forums complaining of the same problem. It appears to be a relatively common but very costly failure on many Honda vehicles that use similar cameras. I believe this is worthy of an investigation, especially since the camera is necessary for many safety related features to function properly.

My 2020 Acura Mdx is throwing up multiple dashboard warnings related to the camera sensor—involving systems like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation, and road departure mitigation. These systems rely heavily on the multipurpose camera unit mounted near the rearview mirror. I took it to my Acura dealership service and they concluded it's the multipurpose camera unit that's causing all these dashboard warnings. They are charging me $1800+ for a new one to be installed. I have researched and googled this issue online, and there were hundreds and hundreds of comments from Honda car owners that have faced this issue, especially Honda and Acura models made in 2019-2020. Many have bought a used camera unit for approx. $150 online and got it installed & calibrated. Others have said that this camera unit is so hot to the touch since it's located under the windshield. I agree with a lot of these Honda/Acura owners that this malfunction of this camera is a safety issue for the car drivers and others around them since these codes just pops out suddenly making the drivers so nervous during driving. Also, these cameras under the windshield get so, so hot that it could also start a combustible hazard. These units should be encased in a heat-tolerant case/cover and not metal.

Camera is failing - reportedly due to a bad internal ground-wire. Acura is charging $900 for the part and $1600 for the installation and calibration of a new unit !! also - the unit is a black color, and located right behind the windshield, so bakes itself to death. Acura should be using white colors inside the space, limit the un-used volume, and recalling the units (or at least providing a low-cost unit) to allow simple replacement and improve safety. Front camera stopped working at 65 000 miles. Seems to be a faulty part as many hondas and Acuras have the same problem and the dealer wants over $2000 to replace a $700 part that sounds like less than 45 minutes to replace.
