Warnings Problems of Acura MDX - part 1

The vehicle is showing low speed braking control and brake system problems, it is also throwing dtc codes b2600-97; b2627-96; b2630-96; b2637-11; p2583-76 and p2583-97, as I consider the vehicle unsafe to drive or operate and it is a leased vehicle I took it to the same Acura dealer I leased the vehicle from, in order to have it repaired and put back to a normal operating status and make it safe to drive and operate. I took it to the dealer, advantage Acura of naperville, on Friday October 9, 2026. The dealer is refusing to repair the braking failure under the manufactures warranty, as the vehicle only has 31thousand miles on it, and it still is within the manufactures warranty period.

Lkas, forward collision, high beam all alerts are going off and have been told it's a camera system that gets over heated. This is not a easy fix and needs to be recalled to clear up the codes and alerts.

Hello! I am writing to report an urgent and serious safety failure involving my 2025 Acura Mdx a-spec and to request immediate investigation and action. The vehicle’s driver-assist systems - specifically the lane departure warning and forward collision warning - failed to operate. In addition, both the steering wheel and the accelerator became stuck, causing my vehicle to collide head?on with oncoming traffic. These failures placed my life and the lives of others in immediate danger. I previously opened a case with Acura contact and client relations (case #16550271). To investigate my vehicle failures that caused this major accident, the response I received was inadequate and deeply concerning. During my conversation with Acura representatives, I was told verbally without any willingness to provide this statement in writing that Acura “has nothing to do with inspecting their own car. ” instead, I was instructed to have my vehicle inspected by my insurance company, despite the fact that they are not certified to evaluate Acura safety systems and do not possess the diagnostic equipment required to assess failures of this nature. Given the severity of the malfunction and the resulting collision, I am requesting that Acura immediately arrange a proper inspection by qualified Acura technicians and provide a written explanation of how such critical safety and control systems could fail simultaneously.

I am reporting repeated failures of the front safety camera / collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) on my 2017 Acura Mdx tech (fwd). The vehicle has experienced intermittent and sudden loss of all adas safety functions, including cmbs, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and road departure mitigation. The failures occur without warning, while driving at normal speeds. The dash displays “safety support system problem,” “collision mitigation system problem,” “lane keeping assist problem,” and related alerts. When this happens, all forward?facing safety systems shut down, increasing the risk of collision. The issue is persistent and unpredictable. It has occurred in clear weather, dry roads, and normal driving conditions. The vehicle does not have the advance package or surround?view system; this is the standard tech?package front camera. Multiple Acura service departments have confirmed the problem is caused by a faulty front monocular camera module (part number 36160?tz5?a36). Acura has superseded this part several times (a63, a64, a65, a66), indicating an ongoing design or reliability issue. Replacement cost is extremely high, and the failure disables federally?relevant safety systems. This is a safety?critical component. When the camera fails, the vehicle loses collision?avoidance capability, lane?keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control. The failure happens while the vehicle is in motion, creating a risk of rear?end collisions or lane?departure accidents. I am requesting NHTSA review this issue for potential defects in the Acura Mdx front safety camera system.

While driving on a residential street under normal daylight conditions, the forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking system failed without warning. A dashboard message appeared instructing me to clean the windshield and stating that collision avoidance services were unavailable. The windshield was clean and unobstructed. There was no precipitation, glare, or debris. The failure occurred while the vehicle was in motion. I had no indication of whether the vehicle was safe to continue driving or whether I should stop immediately, and no way to know whether the fault was limited to the camera or whether other systems were affected. There was no prior warning, no gradual degradation, and no fault indication before this event. I purchased this vehicle in part for its advanced driver assistance systems and rely on forward collision prevention in daily driving. That protection is now unavailable, and I am driving without a crash avoidance system I was sold and expected to have. I took the vehicle to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The dealer determined that the forward facing camera module must be replaced and recalibrated, and quoted $2,700. No recall or technical service bulletin was identified. I believe this constitutes a safety defect. A primary crash avoidance system failed spontaneously under normal operating conditions on a vehicle marketed on its safety technology. The repair cost is also high enough that many owners will defer or decline it, leaving vehicles on public roads with disabled collision avoidance. I request that NHTSA investigate the failure rate of this camera module and consider a safety recall.

Various warning lights appear randomly for collision system, lane departure system and brake system and the radio power glitches on/off while driving on highway. I tested the battery and it's good. At one point I was just about to enter a car wash and the radio power glitched off and then a transmission warning appeared and the car shifted to n and I couldn't shift to drive. I pushed the p button and the dash just showed a blinking p with the transmission warning. With a whole line of cars behind me for the car wash I was in a panic of course. I turned the car off for about a minute and restarted and was able to get it back to normal but had this issue happened while driving then it would've been dangerous.

Faulty forward facing camera affixed internally on windshield. Adaptive cruise control will not function. Lane keeping assist will not function. Collision mitigation braking may be unavailable. Vehicle detects oncoming traffic in opposing lane as a potential collision, causing braking system to engage and causing a risk of a collision or being struck from the rear despite no vehicle ahead except on the opposite side of the road. Acura can not find anything wrong with the vehicle. Recently all warning lights for high beams, braking system, lkas, road departure, front end collision, etc flash on vehicle. Multiple people with Acura and Honda vehicles have reported the same issue with the front windshield sensor camera, yet no recall, instead they have paid thousands to replace a faulty camera system. Acura quoted $2000 for replacement of camera. Vehicle operationally runs fine. Why has nothing been done despite numerous, repetitive issues with this safety hazard?.

I am reporting a severe safety defect regarding the sudden, unprovoked failure of the Acurawatch driver-assist camera system (affecting lkas, adas, and the collision mitigation braking system), which directly and unexpectedly alters the vehicle’s powertrain and driving dynamics without driver input. While driving, the front windshield monocular camera module experienced an internal electronic failure, immediately lighting up multiple critical safety warning indicators on the dashboard and permanently disabling all forward collision prevention and lane-keep capabilities. I urge NHTSA to open a safety defect investigation into 2016–2019 Acura Mdx models regarding camera system degradation and its hazardous, cascading impact on transmission shift timing and vehicle deceleration behavior.

Warning lights for collision mitigation system, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control. Lane keeping assistance, auto high beam. Features are now disabled causing safety issue. Dealer confirms issues and recommends repairs that have not not been solved by others online. Errors appeared before battery failure in March 2026. Battery was replaced. Common complaint by many online. Need recall to fix.

I start getting every kind of warning on my dashboard - collision mitigation system problem -auto crues control problem -brake system light on - the car apply brake on the miidle of street/highway.

The front camera mounted under the dash stopped working, prompting all of these systems to fail.

Front windshield camera went bad due to overheating. When malfunction it gives multiple warning lights, everything that has to deal with front windshield camera does not work. Ive hearing multiple and multiple stories online and in person that they too is affected by camera malfunctioning. There needs to be a recall on it as it is affecting way too many people. My car is a 2019 with only 47000 miles pretty much still new. Parts plus labor and camera calibration is $2200.

All the sensors are blinking with no damage done to the vehicle no cruz control no abs no lane departure and more all sensor is not working.

Front multipurpose camera is starting to fail intermittently. Multiple warnings pop up (lkas, auto high beam, forward collision warning).

Blind spot warning, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assistance, and high beam lights keep flashing on dash giving a code u3000-49. The dealership quoted me $2000 to fix a faulty front facing camera. Research shows this is happening to thousands of people.

The front camera mounted near the rear view mirror stopped working which caused several systems to fail. Acura was slow to respond and was not able to complete the repair because the camera was backordered for several months.

Monocular windshield camera failed for no apparent reason on five-year-old car with less than 50k miles. Dealer cost to fix $2k. My concern is there are an many individuals on the Acura Mdx forums complaining of the same problem. It appears to be a relatively common but very costly failure on many Honda vehicles that use similar cameras. I believe this is worthy of an investigation, especially since the camera is necessary for many safety related features to function properly.

I was driving to work yesterday morning- busiest time of day on probably the busiest road in our area. My car started freaking out randomly. It popped up numerous errors. The steering wheel locked up. The brakes weren’t working well. I had a car behind me. Thankfully they were paying attention because they were very close to rear ending me. But they dodged me. I finally jerked the wheel and got it pulled over to the side of the road until someone could come get me and take me to work. There could have been a different outcome. After being hit head on in February of this year, this incident was not good for my ptsd!!!! my anxiety has been through the roof since this incident with a car that I bought six months ago! as soon as I can trade this car off and get something else, I will be. We still don’t know what it’s wrong with it. We are going to have it towed somewhere on Monday. This was a major safety risk for me and for the others on the road!!! if my kids had been in the car, I would’ve been even more upset over the situation.

The camera keep going online/offline in a middle of a highway while I'm on cruise control lkas, acc, camera, and ect warning lights keep coming on.

I was driving on a normal sunny day when every light on my dashboard came on. I initially panicked thinking my car was going to shutoff while I was driving it. This is in conjunction with the car stalling out when the auto shutoff feature malfunctions. After researching the issue, I realized the safety camera was no longer working and a major concern. A malfunctioning front camera can prevent the vehicle from automatically braking or maintaining lanes, hence increasing the risk of collision. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the front multi-purpose camera system on the 2020 Acura Mdx for potential defect and safety hazard.

Got multiple warnings, systems don't work: collision mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping asist, road departure mitigation system. All those additional systems designed for safety are no longer working. The front camera failed, as confirmed by the dealer. Part is available for inspection.

The front lane assist camera has failed internally and now the lane assist, forward collision and adaptive cruise control no longer work. This has been a known issue and has happened to other Acura Mdxs. The warning lights are now coming on saying the vehicle had a brake system error. It also states that all systems related to this camera are inoperable.

All of a sudden the brakes are automatically applied with collision avoidance amber coming on dash heads up display while I am on freeway approximate speed 30-40 mph with no apparent vehicle in front. This has also happened at lower speeds in local driving roads. Braking is pretty severe and dangerous could be rear ended by other vehicles . . This is a collision mitigating system falsely coming on with no vehicle in front very dangerous. It has happened about 3 times intermittently. Taking in vehicle to local Acura dealer on 24 th June 2025 for check up.

I purchased the vehicle March of 2025. Since I have been to the dealership on multiple occasions. I was there less than a week after purchase because there was a noise coming from the front tire the dealership balanced the tire. The noise was still there so I returned and the next time they replaced the front wheel bearings. I still have issues with the steering wheel shaking so they replaced all 4 tires. The problem still persists but they don’t know why. The car feels unsafe to drive especially on the highway and in rain. I have had the recall for the brake pin assembly addressed and fixed. I also have issues with the audio shutting off or not responding the dealer did a hard reset and an update to the software that has not resolved the issue. The car would turn off at random times and struggle to turn back on when the idle shut off was activated. The dealer replaced the starter. I have had issues with the car randomly braking when there is nothing in front of me and other safety features either not working at all or working when not needed. Dealer advised it was a faulty battery and replaced it. I currently am still having shaking with loud noises especially at higher speed. The engine is very hesitant when accelerating and I struggle to merge onto the highway. It is also extremely jerky at lower gears and its most noticeable in stop go traffic. The brakes are squealing already and the mileage is low. I also sometimes need to press the brakes hard to even stop. The screen often goes black or will not connect to anything and I am unable to see directions or hear music. I feel extremely unsafe in this car and have anxiety every time I need to have anyone in the car with me.

Lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning all stopped working and received error codes. Dealership stated camera was faulty and needed to be replaced at my cost. Continued issues with electrical systems where the car alarm will go off intermittently, and vehicle will not lock unless manually locking. Dealership stated Smart control unit needs to also be replaced at my cost. Part number for control unit #38320 was issued by Honda motor company service bulletin 21-055 for their Honda ridgeline. Acura dealer will not honor since part number does not specify Acura. Part issued in service bulletin is 38320-t6z-a11 (Honda ridgeline) part needed to be replaced by Acura is 38320-trx-a11. Other service bulletins related to original issues: 20-015, 19-005, 23-008, and 24-022 and safety recall report 23v-751. Dealership is still placing responsibility of repair of defective parts on car owner.

Acura issued service bulletin 23?008, which states that: “a problem exists with the detection logic in the multipurpose camera software. ” the bulletin applies to all 2017–2018 Acura Mdx trims, and the corrective action is a software update to the camera module. My vehicle matches the exact symptoms described in the bulletin. However, Acura and the dealership informed me that my VIN is “not eligible” for the update, even though the bulletin explicitly lists my model year and trim. Instead, I was told I must pay for a full camera replacement, costing over $1,200, despite Acura acknowledging the issue is software?related. This leaves me with a disabled safety system and no manufacturer?supported remedy. The failure is widespread among 2017 Mdx owners, and many report identical symptoms and identical denials of coverage. Because this defect disables multiple federally relevant safety systems simultaneously, I believe this should be treated as a safety recall, not a customer?paid repair. The front camera seems to be faulty and is throwing warning lights on the dash. Lane keep assist system, front collision and adaptive cruise control lights show up. These warnings disappear when the car cools down, but does appear again.

Vehicle make/model/year: 2019 Acura Mdx component affected: forward collision avoidance / lane departure / adas (front camera system) summary of issue: I am filing this complaint regarding a recurring and dangerous issue involving the front windshield-mounted camera on our 2019 Acura Mdx. After purchasing this vehicle and driving approximately 5500 miles in las vegas, multiple critical safety warnings began appearing on the dashboard, including: •“collision mitigation system problem” •“road departure mitigation system problem” •“lane keeping assist problem” •“adaptive cruise control problem” these warnings occur continuosly. The warning lights won’t turn off, resulting in the complete shutdown of essential advanced driver assistance systems (adas). Safety concerns: this camera-related failure disables major safety features designed to prevent accidents. The driver is left without automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, or adaptive cruise control. This is especially dangerous at highway speeds. Acura has not issued a recall, despite the widespread nature of this problem and documented cases in other hot-weather regions. Service experience: we purchased the vehicle used from a Cadillac dealership. The issue began approximately 3 months after purchase. A mechanic confirmed that the front camera system is likely malfunctioning due to heat exposure—a known problem with this model. Why I’m reporting: I believe this is a safety defect that should prompt investigation. Acura appears to have issued technical service bulletins (tsbs) but has not taken action to proactively notify owners or issue a recall. This defect compromises driver and passenger safety and puts others at risk.

The last 3 times we had very insignificant snow accumulation, my vehicle dashboard lit up with 6 different warnings, some audible. When you look up the info on them it says the car cannot steer, break, will roll on a hill etc. One warning advises to remove all flammables from the car. I was very nervous and almost towed the car but since I was a mile from home I drove it and brought it to the dealer at 0730 next day. They said nothing was wrong. Snow or dirt probably got behind sensor. It has happened two more times in the next 10 days. I keep taking off work and nothing is wrong. The issue is when this happens you cannot change the vehicle to snow mode to drive. This is a safety feature as well as the flashing "brake" warning and audible alarm. I have a [xxx] and [xxx] driver and they do not want to operate this vehicle. Both times it happened again, I took it to the car wash and cleaned every visible camera and sensor to no avail. I am taking it back to the dealer again this Friday but if nothing is wrong with any of these systems then there is something wrong with the cameras because how can someone operate awd and snow mode when there are these false warnings and how do you know if they aren't false. I don't want to assume each time it's not but 3 times in 10 days and missing work, etc. Plus I am very nervous driving it like this. I reported it to Acura- they said there were no recalls. 2019 Acura Mdx a-spec started up the SUV and the following appears on the dash: acc problem collision mitigation problem lake keep assist problem auto high beam problem battery has been replaced and issue still exists. Cruise control does not work at all. "break problem" light remains lit.

Problems may occur intermittently, including during engine startup and while driving, with warning messages appearing on the dashboard? auto high-beam problem, road departure mitigation sysem problem,, collsion mitigation system problem, lane keeping assist problem and adaptive cruise control problem. All of advanced driver assistance systems can't be used.
