Uknown acc, lkas, brake system warning lights intermittently come on. Started around 25000. More persistent now. Dealer advisor checked windshield/wiped over where the camera is and since it was not on at the dealership no problem found. Just stated the camera is funky sometimes. Vehicle has 59000 now. Not sure exactly what components are effected but the safety features of the vehicle no longer work properly such as the breaking warning.

My 2023 Acura (VIN# [xxx] ) has experienced two separate incidents of sudden, total power loss while driving. In both cases, all dashboard warning lights came on, including the brake light, and the vehicle reduced speed to 20 mph and would not accelerate. The first incident occurred while I was driving on a 55 mph expressway, creating a major safety hazard. I had to maneuver to safety in high-speed traffic. The second incident occurred under similar conditions. The dealer has been unable to resolve the issue. I am filing this report to document the safety risk for investigation. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The windshield camera suddenly failed one day while driving and it ended up disabling all the driver assist systems including the emergency braking, lane keep assist, forward collision, auto high beam, cruise control etc. Over the next few weeks the system kept randomly working and failing during driving every few hours or minutes. The discussion forums are filled with people complaining about the same issue with all Honda and Acura vehicles starting 2013 where they camera suddenly fails and then start working intermittently until it eventually fails. It seems Honda is using the same defective camera across all it's Honda and Acura models which is a big safety hazard and they refuse to acknowledge the issue.

I have experienced several incidents where I am driving on open road with no obstructions in front of my vehicle and the collision braking feature suddenly engages. This has led to vehicles behind me almost rear ending my car due to the unexpected, strong, and abrupt nature of the braking on open road.

2020 Acura Mdx tech package with 31600 miles, I purchased this vehicle first owner in March of 2021 and about 3 days ago 5/22/25 I get a fault reading for collision mitigation system problem, lane keep assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, adaptive cruse control problem and auto high-beam problem, all safety feature issues, I brought vehicle to Acura dealership and they scanned for error codes which produced error code#u3000-49 for faulty multipurpose camera unit millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure recommend to replace the wave radar, dealership states vehicle is no longer under warranty and would cost a total of $1500 to get repaired and replaced , this issue should be looked into further for faulty Acura part if repair is done what are the chances of it happening again with normal usage of vehicle.
My vehicle will phantom brake and kick on the automatic emergency brake system without cause. It has done it as I was accelerating onto the freeway onramp and almost caused a collision with the vehicle behind me. There was nothing in front of me and no reason to brake. It has happened on several occasions.
I was pulling into a friend’s driveway. I had my foot on the brake was barely creeping forward. Without any yellow warning, the car slammed on the brakes for me. It hit the brakes so hard, I had smoke coming out of my front, middle vents and when I got out of the car, it smelled very bad and I had smoke coming from my brakes. There was nothing in front of me. The same incident also happened to my husbands few days earlier while he was pulling into our garage.

There is an active recall on the brake calipers and fuel pump for Acura Mdx 2017, and hondas. My Acura Mdx 2017 has the same issues with a code of p07e4, which is the brake calipers. When looking up the recall of my car, there is no recall on it when inserting the VIN. My car is an Acura Mdx 2017; I do not understand why it is not included in the recall when it should.

The last 3 times we had very insignificant snow accumulation, my vehicle dashboard lit up with 6 different warnings, some audible. When you look up the info on them it says the car cannot steer, break, will roll on a hill etc. One warning advises to remove all flammables from the car. I was very nervous and almost towed the car but since I was a mile from home I drove it and brought it to the dealer at 0730 next day. They said nothing was wrong. Snow or dirt probably got behind sensor. It has happened two more times in the next 10 days. I keep taking off work and nothing is wrong. The issue is when this happens you cannot change the vehicle to snow mode to drive. This is a safety feature as well as the flashing "brake" warning and audible alarm. I have a [xxx] and [xxx] driver and they do not want to operate this vehicle. Both times it happened again, I took it to the car wash and cleaned every visible camera and sensor to no avail. I am taking it back to the dealer again this Friday but if nothing is wrong with any of these systems then there is something wrong with the cameras because how can someone operate awd and snow mode when there are these false warnings and how do you know if they aren't false. I don't want to assume each time it's not but 3 times in 10 days and missing work, etc. Plus I am very nervous driving it like this. I reported it to Acura- they said there were no recalls. Would not provide info if they have prior complaints. On google, I have found numerous complaints about this. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I reported these issues to Acura corporate and to jackson Acura, dealership I purchased the vehicle from in February 2024. Beginning in July 2024 the vehicle would stall, DE-accelerate then the automatic brake would engage, and the vehicle would go into "n" mode, neutral and lock up. I was able to press the gas pedal a few times, and the vehicle would come back online and drive. This issue happens about every 100 miles driven. On [xxx] the vehicle suddenly DE-accelerated, went into auto brake mode and then shifted into neutral. On this date the vehicle locked up suddenly to an abrupt stop, we were almost impacted in the rear with two other vehicles having to take evasive action to avoid hitting us. My wife and I were lucky not to injured by the sudden brake, or transmission lock up. There were no other issues with the vehicle until this date, other than the stall issue. It seems the system had a sudden catastrophic failure. The car has been maintained with oil changes, new battery and transmission service. The car was shutdown then restarted. All the lights on the dash were on and the vehicle was unable to shift to any gear. The vehicle had to be towed to my home address. I was advised to have the vehicle towed to a dealer for diagnostics at my expense. It is currently at nalley Acura, marietta, GA being diagnosed for the issues. The vehicle has 74,000 miles currently. It was purchased with 57,700 miles from jacson Acura as a certified Acura used vehicle. The Acura dealer and Acura corporate both stated my VIN # was not included in the recalls. It should be included in the recalls as it has the same issues as other Acura models. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I bought the vehicle in February 2024 from a certified acuara dealer. On December 26th the vehcile suddenly went into neutral mode and would not change into any other gear. The car was shutdown and restarted about 5 minutes later with the dashboard full of warning lamps at start up. I attempted to move the car from the roadway but the gear shift control would not work in any gear. Transmission warning lamp came on. The car was towed back to my home address. This car was Acura certied used. It has been maintaind by a Honda service center. Acura, Honda and the Acura dealer locally all have stated there are no issues with the car or warranties for the issues. The car has 74582 miles. Based on online forums this seems to be an issue with many Acura Mdx owners. Acura and Honda America are not acepting their product is defective. Lastly, we nearly avoided being in a severe accident due to the sudden stop on the roadway.
On more than several occasions the car has slammed on the breaks for no apparent reason. This has happened multiple times and thr dealer can’t fix the issue because the computer is showing no error. This is a serious concern for me as the last time it occurred a child hit her face on the back of the passenger seat causing her lip to bleed.
I was lightly stepped on the gas coming off a complete stop with no cars in front of me. The automatic breaking came on hard and a sensor flashed to brake as if I was going to hit someone but there was nobody in front of me. The sensor alert system was turned off 15min prior as I had gone through a car wash. This is the first time this has happened but unknown why. Had there been a car behind me, I may have been hit.
Airbags: I was driving on interstate five when traffic had come to a slow stop. The vehicle far behind me not paying attention and hit me going at a very fast speed that forced my car into a box truck in front of me. My car was found to be a total loss. Zero airbags were deployed with either impact. The hood completely crunched and dash broke open inside vehicle.
While driving at approximately 25 mph with no vehicle in front of me and no objects in the road ahead of me, the automatic braking system suddenly and unexpectedly engaged and brought my vehicle to a near stop. This was sudden and unexpected and the vehicle behind me nearly collided with my vehicle. It also caused my head/neck to jolt forward and while I did not sustain an injury it was a significant “jolt”. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk by my vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly braking automatically for no reason. This issue could easily cause collisions and injure me, my passengers, and occupants of vehicles driving behind my vehicle who may not be able to slow down or stop in my time when my vehicle automatically brakes suddenly and without warning, for no apparent reason. The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. When the brakes suddenly engaged, the “brake” warning flashed on the driver panel/screen in a yellow/orange color. There were no other warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the automatic braking system suddenly engaging for no reason.
1. ) I have had repeated, on-going issues with the fuel propulsion system since the day I bought the car. When I step on the accelerator it randomly (lately more constant than random) does not respond, then it will shoot me out into traffic. For example when I am entering the highway from an onramp, I see my opportunity to merge into traffic and I step on the gas - nothing - no response, then it suddenly accelerates and shoots me into oncoming traffic. This is so bad that I am afraid to drive the vehicle. It is deadly. I have reported the issue every time I have had the car serviced (always dealer serviced, from same dealer where I bought it. ) 2. ) the vehicle will randomly decide that I am going to hit a car in another lane, and will forcefully apply the brakes (when there is no issue, no danger, no possible way I am going to even be close to hitting another car) causing the cars behind me to come extremely close to rear-ending me! or the car will decide I am going off the road when I am taking a soft curve, and it will sound a warning and try to turn the wheel. 3. ) the display panel will go black for no reason. I then cannot use the navigation screen. It will randomly return after a few hours or after a day or two. 4. ) the camera/display will get stuck on the reverse camera causing a visual disconnect as I drive forward, but can only see what is in reverse. (like seasickness). No idea what causes it or how to fix it. Eventually it corrects itself after a few hours/day+. 5. ) car will occasionally make a strange squealing noise after it has been turned off - no idea what that is, or what causes it. As a salesperson who spends many, many hours in her car, this vehicle has become a constant danger to both my livelihood and my life. I am afraid to drive it and I will not let family members drive it as I am afraid for their lives due to the issues stated above.

I purchased this car in September of 2023 with 23,000 miles on it then I received a recall in December 2023. I purchased tires for my car at the dealership and they scheduled my car to have this recall to be fixed on Monday may 13, 2024. I brought the car in on Monday and received a call on Saturday may 18, 2024 to pick my car up from the dealership that it was fixed. I took my car to get gas and two lights on my dash board came up one about my emergency brakes and the other code stated that there is a engine problem and immediately bring the car to the dealership less than one hour of picking it up from a so called recall repair that I was told was going to take two weeks to fix ended up less than 5 days and the car is back at the dealership less than a hour of picking the car up today. I am pissed off and the car is a $40,000 car I paid for with these types of problems when iam paying a $680 a month on the car note and can’t drive it . Btway the car smelled of burnt oil while driving it back to the dealership when the lights came on. I want my money back on this recall I need to let you know that is why I bought a new car so I wouldn’t have to deal with this big ass migraine. The dealership needs to replace my car period in my eyes this can’t be fixed it already has to many problems and issues with this vehicle.
Multiple occasions the brake collision senor activates without an obstacle in site. The car would spontaneously brake as the warning sensor flashes on the dashboard. No resulting crash, but a few close incidents.
I was in a parking mode and was leaving the parking lot. I reversed my car lo leave, and the car went out of control and was not until it crashed on two other parked cars that came to a stop. Then, after reversing my car, when trying to put it into drive, it would not move. When I tried to turn it off, the engine (re) started again and it worked so I could clear the path for other cars and wait until the police came. I had major maintenance at Acura hopkins 2 and 3 years ago, I had a new steering pump and hoses changed 5 months ago and new front and rear brakes 3 months ago. Many people who are familiar with cars tell me that it was probably the rings. I don't know it may be the transmission? there was a police report as there were two other cars involved and both with severe damages. State farm considered my car totaled despite the large amount of money spent to bring this car to almost new condition.

Within a month of buying our 2023 Mdx the rear parking sensor stopped working. When we took it to the dealer (10/23) they were unable to get the part. Car sat at dealer waiting on part but we finally decided to just get car back. Within a week of getting it back (12/23) I turned the car on one day and on the screen every system that could fail was flashing on the screen- brake system, power steering, parking assist, etc. The car was not draining correctly as all these alerts flashing. We finally had to get it towed to dealer (could not even get car in neutral to get onto tow truck). Still waiting on the rear sensor part to see if this fixes all the issues.
Abs vsa malfunction light comes up constantly and car rattles when brakes are used. It’s constantly turned on even with good road conditions. There are millions of customer complaints on the web about this issue and I believe this should be logged as a major issue which should be logged a recall and offered as a fix to customers who have these car models and issues. My daughter was driving the car and experienced issues on freeway when braking. The car slipped to the side when brakes were pushed and the whole car was shaking and unstable.

Auto braking system engaged abruptly, without necessity. This occurred twice (December 2022 and November 2023) almost causing collisions on both occasions. The dealer could not reproduce the problem when it was brought in in December 2022 and said this could occur if the sensors are dirty and to ensure they are always clean. I have since done so, and the same thing happened again. There were no warning signs for this error prior to it occuring.
On at least 5 occasions my automatic braking system has engaged when there were no obstacles in front of the vehicle. This has happened when driving at higher speeds (approx. 50 mph) on lake shore drive in the city of chicago as well at speeds below 30 mph along residential streets in my neighborhood. When I mentioned this to the dealership, I was told that perhaps there was interference from metal guardrails during the higher speed triggering of the brakes. The residential area incidents have occurred when there was no cars or pedestrians anywhere on the street. I am worried that I will be rear ended because the braking is occurring unexpectedly with clear roads ahead.
As I was approaching an intersection the car engaged the brakes without reason and I was unable to drive the car. It forced the car to stop in the middle of a busy intersection. Thankfully no one else was around or behind my car, but this could have resulted in a very bad accident resulting in my being rear ended at high speeds. The car had 4 passengers, including 2 children in car seats. I am open to the car being inspected. I plan to take it to the dealership for this reason.
The collision mitigation braking engages independently with no objects in front of vehicle. I was going through a green light with no car in front of me. The car momentarily started to brake on its own.
On two separate occasions (December 2022 and April 2023), the collision mitigation system (cms) of our 2020 Acura Mdx improperly engaged. On the first occasion, the cms abruptly engaged the braking system without warning. There was no car in front of the car, but there was a car in a turn lane to the right of the car. There was no reason for the system to engage. Both the driver (my wife) and the passenger (daughter) reported back pain from the incident. The driver received physical therapy for the event. The dealer (gary force Acura) and Honda America were notified. The dealer examined the car and found no issues or failures. On the second occasion, the car was changing lanes at a slow rate of speed while approaching an intersection and a stopped car well in front of the Acura. The cms again abruptly slammed on the brakes in a manner not corresponding with the risk or danger of the situation. A collision with the car behind our car was fortunately avoided by the driver of the other car. The violence of the braking system caused damage to the braking system. No injuries were incurred. Again, the dealer and Honda America were notified, and the car was again examined. No issues or failures were identified outside of the brake repair. On both occasions, individuals were put at risk. The dealer was not able to reproduce the problem. The dealer said a cms warning to brake should have come on before the cms engaged. On both occasions, no warnings were observed until the actual braking event started. We are not comfortable driving the car, particularly with a student driver in the family. In most cases, we turn the cms off before driving the car. The intent is to dispose of the car due to concern associated with the cms.
-alerts for all safety systems going offline appeared. Also said awd is not working. Car would turn off with on push of ignition. -tailgate went haywire. When opening it just went up and down and halfway. Had to push it close both issues went away, for now, after several restarts.
The contact owns a 2020 Acura Mdx. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the collision mitigation braking system inadvertently activated. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact had since deactivated the collision mitigation braking system. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,725.
All warning lights came on dashboard. Car wouldn't turn off.
The contact owns a 2016 Acura Mdx. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph, the inadvertently slowed and decelerated to 30 mph. The brake alert warning message was displayed. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

My fcw/auto-brake settings are all set to minimum interference. In approaching a left turn (via green arrow) the car in front of mine abruptly stopped, and immediately moved again. I stopped, just as the system did. It however, held the brake for 2-3 seconds and I was almost rear-ended by the person behind me for not moving again with traffic. The following has happened at least 3 times: on a 2-lane curvy road the fcw has abruptly engaged the brake for an oncoming vehicle when we are both in our own lanes.
This morning I read that you were investigating the automatic braking for certain Honda models. I have had this same thing happen with my 2017 Acura Mdx several times over the past few years. I would be driving (not following another car), and my car would suddenly brake and flash "brake" on the screen, without my doing anything. Both times, I attributed the issue to driving into a bright sun, but I am not sure. It did not cause an accident and it was not a big deal, but the last time (about 3 months ago) I remember braking and being nervous about someone else read ending me. . . When I tried to accelerate I was unable to do so.
The contact owns a 2019 Acura Mdx. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the forward collision-avoidance automatic emergency braking suddenly activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the road. During the failure, the dashboard warning lights and messages remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who serviced the vehicle. No further information was available. The contact indicated that the failure reoccurred approximately three months later. The manufacturer was not yet notified. The failure mileage was 41,000.
2017 Acura Mdx purchased may 2020. Incidences has happened 5 times. Twice this month in July 2021 the brakes engaged! anxiety and fear of being hit by cars behind. 1st incident:location back road when the brakes engaged the vehicle in front had taken a right turn. The vehicle was cleared from mine so it came as a scare as it stopped in the middle of the road with others behind me honking…. . The brakes released and I proceeded driving. 2nd:location back road again in front a vehicle turned right and the brakes engaged. I hit the gas gently I dont know if that helped to disengage the brakes or not. 3rd: location highway brakes engaged and immediately released. I was in passing lane and a truck in middle lane …. . This made no sense. 4th: location at intersection truck turned left across and in front of me, brakes engaged and stopped my car, only to find out a low trailer was being towed. Brakes did help prevent an accident. Kudos earned here!!!! 5th: location back road speed less than 40mph vehicle in front of me turning right again my brakes engaged! again I used the gas hoping the brakes would disengage. I dont know if it helped or not. Now I only use the cruise control on highways.
At different times, either with my wife or I driving the vehicle, we will receive error messages on the dash indicating that various systems are inoperative. These involve the lane keeping assist system and the braking system. I also believe that the cruise control does not function when these messages appear.
