I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the 2011 Acura Mdx I purchased November 2018 this vehicle has had all type of problems from the start from oil issues to needing the engine rebuilt to now timing belt issues and the only thing that is covered under warranty is the rebuild and it is not likely to happen until early 2020 and the only thing I'm getting is quotes of 1200 dollars and sorry your going thru this I am tired of that from one of mobile most respected dealership I want immediate action especially when it was under warranty and should have been inspected before it became a sellable vehicle I am also sending this response to Acura and the better.

April 25,2019 driving from illinois to ms at 75 mph on interstate and applied break for upcoming construction zone and all warning system lights flash through dash and care immediately started slowing and had no acceleration at all. Disabled all safety features. Road departure, brake system, ect. Pulled over to side of road. Restarted several times and all but two lights remained on so called dealer. Two lights remained flashing and car now seemed to drive ok so could be brought to dealer about 80 miles away. Memphis Acura dealer wanted to keep car because they indicated transmission issue but since lights were reset they said take to dealer if comes on again. Mileage 92,321. Called peoria IL Acura dealer a week later to check on issue and they said code was imply a glitch. July 28, 2019 driving 40 mph in town and all safety lights came on dash. Disable ed all safety features of vehicle. Restarted several times and eventually all lights but two remained on. A few hours later all lights were now off. Make appointment with peoria IL Acura dealer. Mileage 97,974. Peoria dealer said the lights some on because we needed our 105,000 servicing which includes about $1500 in service like plugs and timing belt. I challenge their claim (not at the mileage) that Acura would cause a serious safety issue for us all to get us to do the service. They said unfortunately that is what happens. Next week had spark plugs replaced since they said that caused misfire code. August 21 2019 at 99,800 mileage driving 40 mph all safety lights on car lost power and hesitated and then quickly went off. October 6 2019 at 105,392 mileage driving on interstate in illinois at about 75 mph and applied break for rest stop and all lights on and this time rpms rose to between 5/6. Drove 20 mph on side to rest stop. Restarted several times and only two lights remained. Car drivable.

When driving the SUV after the second gear kicks in the transmission has a jolt and it feels like a lag in the shift but then pulls very hard. This shift pull happens when you are going 15-20 mph. Engine timing belt has a loud chirping noise.
2003 Acura Mdx has so many issues and it's affecting a lot of other owners. Srs airbag light issue 61-10 that needs the seat belt replacement and the engine mounts need replacement . Seems like the front and side engine failure is common.

I thought it was the transmission but they replaced the timing belt pulley and it's still making the same chirping sound. The car is very jerky when it shifts gear while driving. Also, the car accelerates when it's going down hill while in motion. Also the drive 1, 2, 3 button is on the steering wheel and when you accidentally hit it, the car abruptly slows down and will not move forward and I had to literally turn off the car and turn it back on while driving in a parking lot and another time while in traffic, had to keep pushing the button because the car would not go but only idle. (city street. ) this happened multiple times on different dates. The accelerating while going down hill happens all the time.

It's unfortunate that Honda motor CO has not takenany corrective action to address the numerous probles with its Acura Mdx transmission problem and I am calling for a full federal investigation along with a potential class action suit against Honda. A vehicle of this calibre on a luxury line, costing thousands of dollars is supposed to live up to its repuatation. To be further proactive, I ask all the Mdxers for us to start a chain blog for Acura and the other car manufacturers to see how extensive these problems are. Acura has been less trhan cooperative during my interactions with them. So first let me talk about the problems and issues on my Mdx. It started with grinding and whining noises coming from my 2005 Mdx while still under warranty. I brought it in to open road Acura of wayne, NJ several times to fix the problem but issue still remain today. Finally, I was told that the transmission would need to be replaced at my expense to correct this problem. When driving 50-60 mph, whining noise from engine area develops. It can be unbearable sometimes, sort of what you experience with earaches on a plane. The engine idles rough, in a grunting way. Initially, constant noise came from the tensioner pulley. I paid and got that fixed even though this was a recall issue. Two weeks into buying the car brand new, something in the drop dowm dvd screen was rattling and I got that fixed. Then, the dvd/nav frooze on me causing yet another repair and time lost. So, now back to this transmission problem. I contacted Acura hq and they asked me to contact the dealer. I asked for them to initate call to dealer but said they were't allowed to do so and all repairs is at discretion of dealer. Now what happens if car seizes while I'm driving causing serious injury or death? Acura has refused to even call me back as a courtesy and has never done so with its customer. This issue should be covered under warranty but dealer claims its at their cost. Dealer service is good, policy is bad.

I purchased the 2002 Mdx on 12, January 2004. At that time I questioned the hard shifting from first into second. It would lurch, shudder, and jump from standing still to first gear, all the way through the gears. I was worried that the transmission would be damaged as well as other parts. On 27 July, 2004 the transmission began to rock front and back, with loud grinding and metal to metal sound. The dealer explained there was a recall on the at and an oil jet cooler was needed. Over the next 7 years I had my Mdx serviced at the dealership. Each time I would complain about the noise at speeds between 20-30 and 35-45. Again I was told nothing could be done. The engine broke the side motor mount, again I was told that nothing could be done. Finally on 6 July 2011 while driving 75 on interstate 71, my transmission reeved into the red area on the gauge, atf was blowing out the back and covered the back window. I pulled over and the transmission seized on the spot. The Mdx was towed to the dealership were I was told the oil jet cooler had a drain nut, that came out, thus releasing the atf. The drain plug and atf was replaced, but again I was told there was nothing could be done as the defect was a part and not covered. The shop manager told me that the shock and spring was rusted and leaking fluid. I was told that both motor, the timing belt, the shifter cable and connection, outer tire rod, boots needed to be replaced. I searched the internet for 5 minutes and discovered thousands of complaints related to the transmission. I confirmed the recalls on the shocks coils transmission, and multitude of other components. I had the timing belt, every belt, water pump, and motor mounts replace at another dealership in town. This is a dangerous problem. As long as there are 2002 Mdx's on the road and Honda Acura ignore or deny the problem. The risk of death is great.
On 5/9/2003 the vehicle was taken to the dealer for service. About 45 minutes later the vehicle stopped while in a busy intersection. The vehicle was taken to the dealer which stated the problem was the water pump and timing belt which was on recall. The consumer was never notified of the recall #02v226000.
