Ignition Switch Problems of Acura MDX

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Acura Mdx. The contact stated that the key failed to remain inserted in the ignition switch when the vehicle was not in park. As a result, the vehicle drifted. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called apple Acura (1202 loucks rd, york, PA 17404, (717) 854-1800). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 12v573000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 200,000.

The contact owns a 2002 Acura Mdx. The contact stated that while the vehicle was unoccupied and parked, it rolled away and then crashed into two other parked vehicles. A police report was filed. There were no personal injuries. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who stated that the ignition switch cylinder would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

I have a 2003 Acura Mdx which has a defective ignition switch interlock mechanism . When in drive I can turn the engine off and remove the key. I have had the car roll away momentarily. The problem is exactly the same as described in the Honda recall issued 8/9/10 for 2003 accord, civic and element vehicles.
