In the last 6 months, my SUV has stalled either at a stop light or when parked. It would sputter on trying to restart. Battery was not an issue. Thought it was a starter issue and got a new starter. But it happened again today and the tow truck guy powered with jump start (even though it was not a battery issue) and it started.

My Mdx has only 62,400 miles and today I got a message "check starter system" due to the hfl module is draining the battery. Luckily the car was in my garage at the time. I had to charge the battery so I could start the car. All the info I have read online states the the hfl module gets real hot and can cause fire. My garage is under my bedroom. This is a part made by johnson controls, Acura needs to recall this item.

Car constantly loses power or get warning light stating I need to check my starting system. Have replaced the battery 3 times this year, replaced the alternator twice and have replaced the starter once. Sometimes car does not lose power all the way, but will lose functionality of windows, turn signals, windshield wipers, radio, ac and any other function although car will still drive. Inside the arm rest is usually extremely hot when this happens. So hot that it burns your hand to the touch. After reading over 20 complaints on this same type of issue, it seems to be caused by the handsfree link in the car, which I have not been able to use because it stopped working completely back in March 2014. This issue needs to be recalled before someone is seriously injured or worse!.

The vehicle was stranded on three separate occasions and would not start. The battery still worked. The dealership, hendrick's Acura in charlotte, nc, replaced a fuse twice and removed the automatic starter and replaced a wire. Today, the car would not start again. It has less than 35000 miles on it. A vehicle that cannot start and gets stranded multiple times create a safety hazard. Moreover the dealership was not sure what was causing the problem, but charged us to try to figure it out.

The starter on my 2004 Acura Mdx has failed. I am going to pay 500. 00 to replace it. Repair shop says this is not a common repair for a car of this age. I am curious if it is a defective part. The car only has 54,000 miles on it. Please help me. Starters should last much longer than this.
