1 Power Train problem of the 2003 Acura TL

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

Driving on highway going 65mph vehicle suddenly jerked and dropped to 20 mph. Causing my entire body to collide with the steering wheel. Luckily there no cars behind me. Was on my way to work when this happened too far from home. So when I got at work which is thirty minutes from where I live I had to get a tow truck to get my car home. That’s how bad it was. My mom had this car for about ten years. I’ve had it now for three years. Never had this problem before. We’ve had the car in the family for almost fifteen years. Only thing that’s had to change was a power steering line and front shocks. Almost sold it last week and I’m glad I didn’t. Has over 230,000 so I’m not upset. Just a bit sad that this happened to my Tl. Needs a/t clutch pressure control solenoid valves a b.

Tried again but this time placed in drive. Exact same results. Checked internet and apparently transmission on this year and others before and after are know problems. Googleand you will see this. Possible catastrophic incident - what would have been the end result having the transmission fail while on the freeway going 60 mph. Possibly could loose control of the vehicle with wheels locking up, cashing into another vehicle or a wall? this should be investigated!.

My "d" indicator light is blinking no matter changing the transmission fluid, cleaning the solenoids, etc. The car is not overheating, there are no apparent electrical problems and I do not even have any check engine lights or other codes. The light comes on blinking when I drive for a little while then goes off when I turn the car off and is fine. Then when I start it up it doesn't blink anymore. But then when I drive again for a while it blinks again. I've had transmission shuddering, jerky shifting, delayed shifting, etc.

13 Power Train problem of the 2004 Acura TL

Failure Date: 12/14/2020

After having my car in the shop for 2 weeks trying to figure out why the power steering won't stop freaking exploding when there is nothing wrong with any of the parts except the hoses going bad. I once again was left in the middle of a busy street with no power steering trying to muscle my way back to the shop. This is ridiculousssssss. Why are they not telling us their cars have issues!!!!!.

14 Power Train problem of the 2002 Acura TL

Failure Date: 12/03/2020

My car has been automatically shutting off while driving. Bringing my car to a halt, not a full on stop but to the point my wheels lock up. Sort of like im slamming on my brake but I can't press my brake. I lose power steering, the entire car shuts off. Then I have to try and restart it, but it won't turn over. Sometimes its just for a few minutes. Other times im stranded for hours. A few times its been days. After it dies and I turn the key off and then back on but not over ill have power. I have a kid and we've been stranded on an on ramp with cars going 60 all around us. The car just randomly shut off in the middle of the road. There's a lot of traffic around these parts and we were stuck, not even being able to get out of the vehicle with the cars going on each side of us. Ive done some research and ive seen thousands of other complaints about this issue since 2002. Ive had 3 different mechanics try to figure out what the issue was. Have had my car at the shop for weeks at a time. A few times even the mechanics couldn't get it started, and it had to sit for 3 days before it would start up again. The check engine light is on and all 3 different mechanics have fixed everything thats came up. After this started happening ive had to replace brakes and rotors several times. My car started shifting way to late. And feels like its starting to slip. This is a safety hazzard. Especially in larger cities.

My transmission went out without any warning while in motion. I was driving down interstate 64 and the engine light turned on, and the vehicle went into limp-mode drastically dropping from 55mph to 25mph. There were many vehicles behind me. I worked to pull out of the way safely. The code on the car was p0741. Crown Acura richmond advised me that the transmission needed to be replaced. I have had my vehicle serviced by the dealer since purchasing it brand new on August 1, 2006. I've now spoken with several people, including a mechanic who reviewed the car to give me a second opinion. He recommended not replacing the transmission because there is a history of the transmissions failing without warning. It appears that there is a known defect and Acura should have recalled this model. Although I was not in an accident or hurt, there was a very high potential for that to happen if I hadn't navigated quickly.

Over the next 1. 5 miles, I noticed smoke in the rear view mirror and a burning smell. I pulled the car over and noticed smoke from the hood and a trail of automatic transmission fluid from the car. 30 Power Train problem of the 2009 Acura TL

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

I've had my vehicle stop in the middle of the road due to a mechanical recall that went undiagnosed. ( over oil consumption recall, in which I was completely unaware until finally receiving the letter prodivided) I was driving off of pleasant street in hanson MA, crossing onto the main road when my vehicle engine just shut down and froze the steering wheel. Also a police officer was on the scene to help me safely off the road. I have been calling Acura of Honda and they have been running me in circles with numerous people on the phone and denied that they are willing to cover this problem, and this is a major safety issue. Which the claim safety is first and for the client, but they have failed to deliver on their own words in the safety recall. The car is currently down in hopes that they supply a repair since they have been much aware of this issue, any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

31 Power Train problem of the 2003 Acura TL

Failure Date: 02/27/2019

While driving on the highway and doing about 60 mph my car suddenly down shifted into 2nd gear. I nearly lost control of the car and caused an accident. There was no prior indication that something was wrong with the car. I'm a mechanic, and have been one for over 20 years and I have never seen or had a transmission give out on me in such a way. Called the dealer and was told that the car was not covered anymore by the recall. Recalls for this model and year Acura. Now, I think, no I know that this is a real safety concern that someone might possibly lose their life over. Upon doing some research on my own I learned that the transmission problems that this 2000 to 2003 Honda's and Acura has is due to shoddy workmanship. Now I'm if the manufacturer knows this and they should cover any and all vehicles still on the road with recalls that they should honor.

32 Power Train problem of the 2012 Acura TL

This vehicles 6 speed automatic transmission randomly downshifts and slips on 3rd and 4th gears on both city and highways. It makes the car unsafe to drive cause you could get rear ended cause random downshift will cause the car to slow down from 65mph to 15mph in a matter of seconds.

33 Power Train problem of the 2004 Acura TL

Failure Date: 10/03/2018

My 2004 Acura Tl is my first car owned. When I put the car in drive I can only accelerate to 20-30mph on the highway. Because, the car would not accelerate on a straight way or up hills. This is a dangerous manufacture malfunction with Acura transmissions for the consumers financially and physcially. I would appreciate a recall being done on my 2004 Acura Tl because I love this car and would love to keep it. I am a college student and do not have the money to install another transmission and the same thing happens again. I have read many reviews about transmissins failures on Honda/Acura transmissions. I thought Acura was a great brand, but Acura ceo and headquaraters have to know that consumers are frustrated and angry regarding transmissions and other related issues due to the transmissions.
